Fist of all, BIG thanks to all that donated! This was a very awesome and unselfish thing that you all were a part of. As all of you might have read, and in case you didn't, morfic said:
"Thanks everyone, I'll be working on things this weekend, just gotta stay out of trouble with wife, so no feature promise.
In case anyone else feels compelled to still donate: Think who really helped you, find their donate button and donate to them!"

i would gladly donate a few dollars to help the great morfic get this phone but we have to come up with some sort of benefit for the people that dont know what he does or have never used his work.....

id say only people that donate to him can use the pre released beta/alpha kernels he makes....
but that never really seems to work and get alot of interest...

i.e. i donate 15 bucks he puts in 15 bucks
so its not all of the community paying for his device just helping him
or maybe he should send out thank you android cards made from his blood and sweat to anyone that donates.....

Yes he is a great dev. I'll set up a fund somewhere, let me see what i can do. Might not get to this tonight but i will get to it. I have been talking to him all day today and he is a great guy. Just for the record I will probably be throwing in 50 bucks myself.
I would like to ask you people if you have time, can you try to help spread the word?

In terms of a fund, why don't you have one of the mods here hold onto it. Mikey1022 and Ryanmo5 are good guys. That way people knew it was going to the right cause Just a thought

Agree with this! Maybe make a Facebook group like TW/EDT.
TW once release a built exclusive to the FB group and everyone respected it and there was no leaks!

Based on my geek level, a dropbox.access on.a.shared folder if people prefer this added benefit, I can do similar over mailing list to unpublished links on my host.

I'm sure many of you are firmilar with evild's work on the n1, mt4g and other highend devices. I happened to flash his 3.0 rom on my wifes mt4g sand got to chatting with him. Hes interested in getting a g2x, so I told him id attempt to orchestrate a collection of funds to buy him a g2x. First things first, what will a no contract g2x cost? What is the cheapest anyone has seen one for sale off contract? Secondly, if anyone has an upgrade they are willing to donate, THAT WOULD BE PHENOMENAL! I'm good for $100 to start things off. That is why I hate xda bunch of free loading crack flashers that don't help the Dev. community just piss people off and whine for help when they get in trouble....... count me in for 20 bucks

Very good question... I can only assume so, since alot of his work is done with sense ui. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread, so as he reads through it, I'm sure he'll clarify on that.

haha yea a little part of me died when the sense roms stopped for the N1

Yea, I guess I didn't miss it all that much because I went straight from the n1 to the mt4g. So I almost immediately had evil support again lol.

have you been on the internet long? people are people. and you'll find people like that on any forum. i've seen people talking like that online since before the internet was mainstream. it's not only xda. there is no way to stop it. so just get used to it. but, i got your back on voicing your opinion as well. what xda needs is a dislike button. i've seen them on other sites. and after so many dislikes,your post gets hidden and members have to click "show" to see it.

People like you thinking it's ok to use these Roms for free without donating a dime is a FAIL!
These Devs work hard and long hrs. to make these roms for your phone to function and look better!
So a little donation wouldn't hurt for you to give!
Or better yet if you don't, don't bother commenting on it!
Don't look at it as paying for there phone, but rather an advance for work they are going to do for you!

Your idea is ingenious. I will take it up with a friend whose a mod here and see what he thinks. Not sure it will get too far but you never know.

That is a very good idea. Giving thumbs down to certain posters would warn other readers at this forum. It would also be useful against scammers who steal the Dev's work and pawn the mods as their own begging for donations. There was one on the Samsung Epic forum last year and on the Asus Transformer forum a few weeks ago.

I've been on the internet for awhile... a lot of forums and yes I know there are always negative people... I can be one of them... at times... but I hate how broad the ignorance on this site is..

Well, we have to consider many things.
First and most importantly, Google just acquired Motorola's mobile phones division for $12.5 billion. That means that they are gonna be a major hardware manufacturer and the phones that they make will probably be able to handle Android better than the rest of the competition.
Also, don't forget that 2011 is the year of the rabbit. The rabbit is a swift little creature and it doesn't like to get caught.
If we compare cyanogemod to the rabbit, and then compare that to google's purchase of Moto's mobile division, then we can clearly see that there's no connection between any of these things.
So long story short, yes, we still don't know. We're all just sitting tight.

Very understandable. In the time I've been with this forum, I've seen a lot of that going on and it's ridiculous. Internet browsers should pop up a notice saying "Don't forget the search feature!" when somebody opens a new tab or window lol

Ok guys So you own a SGS4g now what? Well lets just air out a few thing that get Devs absolutely fired up.
1) Requesting ROM features.
2) Ordering them to do something.
3) Repeatedly asking the same question.

I could keep going on about what makes them mad but there is already a thread about that. This thread is to Distract Noobs away from bugging the Devs by discussing ROMS with each other and answering each others questions that would normally bug Devs. Yes Devs are welcome here, but mainly this is thread to prevent Noobs from pestering the Devs about things that can be answered by other Noobs (or Google). If you honestly don't understand the difference between positive criticism and negative then just don't criticise anyone. Better yet lets keep negativity to ourselves.

on OTA ICS well google, all the electronics companies, and the air carriers made an 18 month agreement to upgrade all devices made in the last 18 months that can be upgraded. As to whether or not they abide by the agreement is up in the air. We have to wait until they are ready to update our phone, aka when S2 sales fall, before we see an upgrade. Its all about keeping us from buying a competitors phone.

Motorola got around that by stating certain devices will not operate any better on ICS than GB. There is many ways to get around that agreement. If there wasnt none of them would have agreed to it.

True but it's all about sales, if they feel that upgrading your phone will prevent you from buying the competitor, especially if the competitor releases a phone that is cheaper then their current market topper. It only makes perfect business sense if you can't sell them something new, prevent them from buying from someone else. If you have noticed that's why updates tend to always be released/leaked around the same time as a new competitors phone is released.

I would like to apologize to Lumin and fb I made and guide that was based off incorrect info, they stuck by there guns in correcting me. I was wrong as happens sometimes. The guide should be removed soon.

Need some info from devs.

hello everyone As some of you must have already read that Moto is closing down in asia-pacific and so in india, I was thinking to sell of my A2.I'm not really sure but thoughts are coming in my mind.So what I want to ask here is that is there any development and breakthrough on good front going on ? (I'm sure something or other might be surely brewing up amongst devs) but still is it that exciting, If yes i would hold of my A2 and wont sell it off (If i am getting some good ROM) or atleast a progress on it (don't get me wrong here i m not pushing anyone).
Just wanted to ask coz, if there is no future regarding development I might think to sell A2 before the prices drop even more.

I already know that nothing is guranteed but looking at situation one can atleast judge what is up in store.Right now that dev section is kinda stagnant and devs are upto something in secret and that is absolutely fine considering what moto has done in past.So a small heads up would always be welcomed.

Really? How long have you been here? To pose the question as to if there may be no 'exciting' advances being made on the development front is rather insulting. I can say that I myself have worked 'behind the scenes' and these guys are ALWAYS working on things. How "exciting" they may be is purely based on your own perception. If there was any indication of having no future of development, don't you think these guys would have moved on half a year ago from this phone? Also, I don't see as to why Motorola shutting down to some capacity in India would have any bearing on whether to sell your Atrix 2 or to keep it. Not sure if this is "forum fishing", but hold onto your pole... you're going to get some bites.

You missed my point here, I'm afraid. I posed a question in retort to your own, pointing out all of the 'breakthroughs' that have been made in almost a year, and more specifically here lately. No, the dev team hasn't bought tickets to "Margaritaville" and will not be kicking up their heels after ordering two pina coladas- they are always on the job, and always testing. If you'd like to pass your Atrix 2 on, for whatever reason, then I wish you the best. Impatience has always run amok here in this forum, and more so recently. Be it due to Motorola or otherwise, it's rather unnecessary. I'd suggest waiting before you pull the trigger on a sale of your Atrix 2, with the abilities we are fortunate enough to benefit from by our devs, this is why I opted to hold onto mine after purchasing the SGS3. But, as LaVar Burton used to say, "You don't have to take MY word for it"...

For one I'm not being impatient.Impatient would be "hey you dev wats taking you so long i want new ROM" < This is impatient and arrogant. I never said anything like this,It was just a humble question.If you as a kid as some questions to your elder coz they know more does that count as being arrogant,impatient and rude ? I guess no.I asked very humbly as they know much much more than me.And again for the breakthrough as I said earlier yet repeating for nth time i am grateful to them and did not discredit or deny that fact.They have done much awesome work and changed the A2's scene.But for once just get in my shoes and try to think,and again if someone interprets this as disrespecting devs i really cant help coz i didn't.

You're right my friend, but the atmosphere and the people being what they are around this forum, you were always going to be flamed. I'd warned you.
In any case, there's not much anybody is going to be able to tell you. Things are uncertain and they take time...you know what I mean.
I wonder why anybody can't understand that Motorola leaving India does have a bearing on whether you want to keep your phone. I perfectly understand.
Anyway, long story short, on this forum, if you ask a question - you're spamming, if you don't know something - you're an idiot, if you you have a different opinion - you're being aggressive.

Edit: I really wasn't trying to be a jerk, but when someone - anyone - makes a post, they should expect to have it open for discussion. That's all I was engaging in.

Oh, I'm good. Trust me, my blood pressure is still within normal range. I was just clarifying that my comments were not of a "flaming" nature. Now, if others flame the OP over this, I'd have to align myself with Archmag3, in that he's got every right to ask a question here. With every question should come answers, unfortunately and at times frequently they happen to be befouled with opinion.

I never suggested that any particular persons comments were "flaming" in nature. So we're cool. BTW, "opinions" by themselves can never "befouled" or for that matter be true or untrue. That's something lots of people here don't understand. Hence, all the unpleasantness.

Let's not argue semantics here, I stated that "answers" can be befouled with opinion. That is quite categorical.

I wasn't arguing semantics. It's something that requires serious introspection among some guys here.

Just think like this..if moto is shutting down sales in india that means no one is ever goin to get a chance to own such an awesome phone like atrix 2..this phone is really awesome man..i am goin to hold on to my A2 (mine just two months old) till the last breath is out of my phone..and i would advice you to do the same..and service centres will work naa..so why worry??

I think the resale value will be adversely affected because of real or perceived lack of after sales support.
About chance to own a Motorola phone, I think that is less of a consideration as these days, everything is available on ebay India.
