I don't know where to find that file, but i do know that no such app exists for SGH-i727(r). You have to manually unlock it.
There is a guide that tells you all about it here.

Lol :silly:
I just posted that link above :good:

So to clear up some confusion you'll only find NV.data_bin on vibrants. It was an exploit used to unlock them. The file was SUPPOSED to be encrypted. On the Vibrant it wasn't. It was hidden in plain site in the EFS folder under efs/root/afs/settings. From there you could use a hex editor to read the file then unlock it. Samsung has gotten wise and now hides that file. So there you go.

Thanks alot, so i need to find "Tmo_SGH-T989_UVLE1_radio.zip" then unlock it then switch back?

No, there is no current method to decrypt the efs, only to restore (encrypted) backups if necessary. Besides, we already have an unlock method based on ucld2 service menu.

Thanks alot for all you help i found that section and the links you provided. Im running stock ICS 4.04 and i just downloaded your modems-ucld2.zip you provided. Im gonna flash in recovery and see if it lets me unlock my i727. my whole thing is i see people saying just flash it back. Thats just where im confused. When they say flash it back and it should stay unlocked, do they mean restore from the backup that im making, or use the other link (ULCD2-oem-rooted) that you provided to restore.

Once you follow the steps and unlock your phone it will remain unlocked. The unlock will persist through ROM flashes. So flash or restore whatever you want.

Thanks everyone for all your help
After following the directions my i727 is now unlocked and working on t-mobile. wow im amazed at the download speed with t-mobile hspa 16mb/s down and 5mb/s up
Thumbs up to everyone

ns pro never corrupts the imei of galaxy s 4g. {t959v}. I ve unlocked many such galaxy 4gS.
IMEI corruption had occured must be due to incorrect ( ' i9000 modem unlock patch file') flashing with z3x followed by a repair attempt with the ns pro modem repair file. AND then some desperate attempts with ODINs also.
So many files now on board - try your luck OR wait for a pro solution to be released.

let me know if you found a fix, im in the same boat and cant get it back
any fix for this?

Hi Kenzo888, Upon searching I do not have the .nv file or the or the md5 file either. All I see is the nv_data.bin file in the /efs/root folder and one /efs folder.
I am not sure if the others have the same but I have the same exact IMEI shown in the OP (1st post by amanvir).
Hope someone can help.

U sure that ur files is nv_dat.din and nv_data.binrm ?
I had this problem and it is because the app is supposed to take the nvdata.bin out change the codeing to make the phone unlocked and then it puts the file back in the phone and your unlocked. If it is not there then the app failed to restore the .bin and thats why u have no imei. Find the file and push it back with the adb method for unlock. I do not like these unlocking apps. they can cause too much bs if they do not operate properly. I use adb to extract the file to my sd card and then place on desktop and edit the file with a hex editor. U only have to change a few 0's to 1's or vice versa and its super easy if u follow the thread about how to unlock the sgs 4g with this method. (can't remember which one but it is in our forum for sure) Then u push your nvdata.bin back to the phone with adb and ur unlocked. To relock the phone u do the same method and change back what u changed to unlock it. ( 0's to 1's or vice versa. just read the thread.)

I'm kind of in the same boat.
I bought a phone off craigslist didn't work now im stuck with a phone i can use wireless on. attempting to make a call, the call drops instantly , received calls go straight to voicemail.
after researching all this past week.. i've noticed the following probles so here is my situation at hand.
i have the IMEI issue with corrupted characters except mine says 04 at the end.
unable to root.
unable to put this phone in download mode
(attempting to fix the imei issue reflashing with odin)
I have no back up files
unable to enter recovery mode manually. I read from another thread someone was able to do so using t mobile one click root program for vibrant ,
which works for this, but when i tried to root i get e signature verification fail issue as well.
I've read countless threads and forums and about to inquire to samsung or t-mobile for a repair. my aim is to get this phone operable.
i'd like to help myself on the issues but find myself at a dead end with being unable to put in download mode ,and yes ive tried the different methods of holding buttons/ inserting usb.
and at another dead end being unable to get this rooted because of signature verification fails.. any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
are the files device specific? cuz if not i had same problem and i fixed it...i will post file if not device specific, someone just let me know.

Im looking for the best way to back up my IMEI

Any ideas post your
backup methods here

Look for Synergy_Backup_HWKeys_signed.zip load into SD card, run recovery, run ZIP...voila , backed up. If you lose it, find /synergy in recovery then the zip file to restore it
The synergy one seems to be the easiest. It was supposedly just confirmed to restore a lost IMEI, without the roaming issue too.

What are the real chances to lose an imei??? Does anyone know? 5%,1% or less? My guess is well less than .1% of phones//not flash attempts

might as well do the qpst method just to be safe as well. again, please use the search function.
Of course mine is backed up, but should I back it up again everytime there is a new tool/method?
My point is it must be very rare or there would be a much larger outcry on xda and the net in general.

It's common enough that there are guides and methods about how to solve or counter the problem. XDA is a very small portion of S3 owners. Just depends on how safe you want to be. None of the current methods are guaranteed now even though all are confirmed to work to some extent. Maybe the new fix is all we'll need, but we thought that about QPST too. Time will tell.
I've been searching for several weeks on the best way to do this. The result was simply to be drowned by the deluge of information. Also, now that I'm already running CM10, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do it. "Use the search" is not an acceptable answer in my case, nor the OP's and frankly, I'm tempted to report anyone who posts those words as spammers.
Download terminal emulator from the market. Type "su" (no quotations), then type "reboot nvbackup" (no quotations). Your phone should reboot and backup two modem files. If you lose your imei, open up terminal emulator again, type "su" (no quotations), then "reboot nvrestore" (no quotations).

Doesn't get any easier than that!
The way I understood it was that there was a path in the reboot code that tried to restore imei from a backup. If "reboot nvbackup" was never run, then the imei would be restored from nothing. Once you run "reboot nvbackup", the backup will be there and you will no longer have an imei problem. Either way, this is great news!

Look we all know what opinions are like. Yes got it we all need help but sometimes you just have to do it. Why not do multiple ways of backing it up so your safe. Yes they should have used the search or ask it it one of the IMIE forms that already exist I'm not straying to flame but come on guy we should report the OP for making this thread and not keeping up with it not the people who reply!

Sprint SPH-P500

I've searched everywhere and can't find anything on the sprint SPH-P500.
Does anyone know of any guides out there? I don't want to risk bricking it with a root from another model number. Thanks for all your hard work guys.much appreciated!
Do you have your stock rom? If you do, try rom for GT-5100 but you will not have 4G capability...
And if it don't work, you go in download mode and then restore your old stock rom thank to odin!
I guess everyone has forgotten about our tablet
I've never done anything on the coding side. But if someone could give me some guidance, I'd be willing to attempt to port some of the greatness that all of the other tablets are getting.
Its a great undertaking. I do website development and have linux experience and would rater not touch rom development. I have been interested though.
As far as the gt builds, i can give that a try. I dont have 4g in my area anyways,. Ill just have to become comfortable with odin before i do anything. Thanks!
Has there been any update on this? Looked around and doesn't look like there is even a developer working on it.
I can't even find the stock firmware for the SPH-P500.05 to download. I'm about to see if a sprint store will give me the file so I can start experimenting. If someone has a link to the stock firmware for this device it would be great. Maybe I'll get my hands dirty and make a few attempts and maybe get a guide going.

I understand that CVE-2013-2094 has been ported to work (escalate to r00t) on Android devices. I don't know if this model has "performance events" turned on but, if so, could this be an opportunity to get # on our tablets?
Also, I have a way to kick off processes as system. Could that help us?

I need to subscribe to this thread. Sorry about the delay. I have been playing with the idea of flashing the GT-5100 firmware, but there is no way back to stock if things go bad. I think I'm going to be more proactive and talk with the local Sprint store to see if I can get that firmware / bin from them. The fact that the development community for this device is so dead is a bit eerie.

I can also confirm cydia impactor works and is really as easy as downloading to pc run impactor hit startband it installsnsuper su right to the root of the tablet after that I have been able to successfully install (titanium, busybox, , link2sd, rom manager) and they all have root access
I have also been able to download mobile terminal and at $ prompt put in (su) and # should show letting you know you now have root access
after that I have also been able to change the default storage to ext2 by using. pm set-install-location 2, from # prompt and using link2sd to move apps 2 extsdcard for those of you that have an 8 gigger like I do I hope this helps im still alittle new to android
Any custom roms found for this tablet? I googled and I could only find rooting method but no custom roms (e.g. kitkat) for this tablet. Can the P5100 ones be used instead? I don't need the 4G service.
cydia impactor isnt recognizing the device. usb drivers fully installed and all that... kinda weird
nevermind. it worked!!! now i just need to install recovery and find a darn ROM LoL
I just received my Sprint SPH-500, and wouldn't have known it's a nonstandard Galaxy Tab 2 variant without this thread. I rooted mine with Towelroot, so I still have a locked bootloader, but full root access. AFAIK, my flash counter hasn't been triggered.
Here;s a screen capture of my downloading screen. It shows I haven't done a custom binary download (what triggers the flash counter), and I'm not running a custom binary, as I'm running the Samsung Official binary. But it does show my system status is custom..

I should have progress to report on moving apps to my external sdcard and second partition soon.
After experimenting with Link2SD for more than a week, I gave up on it. It's just too unstable to be a daily driver. I only have the 8 GB model, and run several large data astronomy and birding apps, They left me with 800 MB free RAM on my internal SD storage, and I still had other apps to install.
Link2SD put apks, Dalvik-cache, and lib files on the second partition of my external SDCard, but lost the links a reboot or two later. It claimed to move 1.8 GB of files, but showed 14 GB of RAM used on my second partition. It lost user and system apps that were linked, unlinked, and lost, for instance, the Google Play Store Services.
I ended up using a symlinking app called Foldermount, similar to the old (unsupported) Directory Bind app. It stores data folders on my external SDCard, and symlinks them so my astronomy and birding apps think they're still stored on the internal SDCard. I've got all my apps installed, and still have nearly 3 GB internal SDCard RAM free.

Instructions for Flashing
Root: Latest version of CF Auto root HERE (Seriously, go buy that guy a beer. http://www.chainfire.eu/ )
As far as flashing the package goes, all files need to be put in their respective shots as per the screenshot, you may need to flash 2-3 times in odin to get the whole package in there, like with most custom -> stock transitions.
The updated bootloader is the only real bummer here, overall a very nice package, fully rootable, works with Wanam Xposed for any of those curious, with very little as far as incompatible modules I can see.
One key change I'm missing personally is the lack of adaptive auto brightness... Can no longer increment -5/+5 on your auto brightness setting
Anyway, enough about it for now, here is the package link. Screenshots will be posted in a few minutes.
https://mega.co.nz/#!h8pTnCZS!t2-PiSb5W9ZyNp7fct7WD_Pg_dnc-eZqtMvpsuKv_9Q <-- Now with 100% less pit file!
I know some people were doubting the legitimacy of this in the Canadian thread, but I just finally got permission to post the leak from my source, since it's not carrier specific, and doesn't tie back to any one specific person. Heh.
downloading right now, will install it asap.
Thanks a lot 0mega1
Interested in trying this out...wondering if anyone has noticed any bugs or general performance issues? Also is it responsive on the S4?
Thanks,

Through a well executed chain of private messages I managed to get a hold of a shiny new leak for us S4 users, Don't know if it will help you AT&T users much, But I'd love it if it did. For now, this is for Canadian users only, and can be used (Confirmed with Bell, and Telus) with any carrier
Included in this package are a few things:
1) BL, AP, CP, and CSC files for Odin
2) The appropriate PIT file for the Canadian 16gb model
3) CF Auto Root package for Odin(Latest version as of posting) -- HUGE Thank you to chainfire for all of his work. http://www.chainfire.eu/
4) Odin v3.09 to be used for flashing (Not confirmed to work with any other version, So why not have the latest? )

Up until I hear otherwise it is literally running on two phones, aside from whatever there is internally.
I've had zero issues since I flashed it yesterday, and battery has been great.
Very nice. Thanks for uploading. Can someone please provide and upload a system dump of this ROM? Having trouble with my ext4.img extract tools since 4.3.
Thanks.
I noticed that the pit file isn't in the package anywhere!
dont use pit files unless you NEED a pit file.
quick way to bork your phone
always check the post count of the Uploader.
less than 200 ? I would not follow his instructions. And i would only flash his leak, if my post count was higher and I knew what to do without reading some "new guy's" instructions

OP probably took the files and infos from here: http://true-android.blogspot.ca/2014/03/i337mvlufnc1-android-442-kitkat.html
I don't care where he got it, my point is only experts should be flashing leaked firmware.
Or to put it simply if you need instructions, don't flash it.

I've installed this using Odin. Can't get the modem file to stick. I'm stuck on MK6 for baseband. Wifi doesn't work as a result.
Did a complete wipe of System, Cache, Dalvik and Data.
I've tried reflashing the modem file a few times but it's not sticking. I'm attempting a reflash of the entire ROM right now to see if that does the trick.
Edit: It stuck after a second flash. Wifi works now.

That's my ****ing screenshot. Are you for real? I can submit the full resolution one if you'd like.
I've leaked a full early release before...

That was the official went-to-public build for the Telus Fascinate... Same deal.

I fail to see how my post count indicated the quality of what the release. This isn't the first time I've posted a leak here, might be the last though... Apparently the content doesn't matter so much as who is doing the work nowadays.
Hey, I'm thankful for the leak.
So where is the .pit file in the package? Or can we flash this without the .pit?
Thanks!

You don't need the .pit file. The OP should remove that from the instructions. Otherwise it's running smoothly.

Oh, ok, thanks. And just another question, if we're not using the .pit file, we should also uncheck the repartition box? (because .pit files will only need to be used if a firmware update needs to change your partition layout). Or how did you do it?
Thanks for the info!
modem.bin
Is it possible to pull the modem.bin file from here? I am running another kitkat rom but with MK6 would like to try this one......

Remove the "silenced", "4G", "Battery symbol" and "AM/PM" from notification bar

Remove the "silenced", "4G", "Battery symbol" and "AM/PM" from notification bar
I want to modify my notification bar so it's more something like this:
Sadly I can't put this as an image because of new user restrictions, but if a mod could edit my post for me that'd be great.
Is this possible?
I'm using a rooted 4.4.2 M8 on Verizon.

Are you on a custom ROM or stock (or stock rooted)?
I think we can help you out with a combination of system settings and systemui, apk modifications.
edit: Just saw you said you're on the stock rooted. Go thru all the settings, I think you might be able to remove the AM/PM and possibly battery. Otherwise, can you get into your phone and copy /system/app and find the systemui.apk file.
Copy it and upload it here, we can find the settings that control those.

I don't see that anywhere. I'm using ES file explorer in this picture but I also don't see it in Root Explorer.

ES is what I use. Make sure you have root enabled and RW system. Navigate to /system/app.
You'll see systemui.apk
Copy that and go to /sdcard or /0 and paste.
Plug in your phone and grab the file and upload.

I don't see any app called systemui.apk. The only files on there that start with an S are settings.apk, Settings.odex, SmartcardService.apk, SmartcardService.odex, SmartDim.apk, SmartDim.odex, Street.apk and Street.odex
Try /system/priv-app folder.

Awesome, if there's something I can help with let me know.
Also, if I follow this guide to change it to the google play edition, would the apk you send me still work?

No, that is totally different.
RUU is the HTC file that contains your system image, radio, bootloader, etc..
The file you gave me is just one system file we are changing in your current ROM.
I really advise you to read A LOT before flashing a new RUU or custom stuff to make sure you are 100% in what you're doing.

Alright, in that case I definitely won't try doing that.
Also, I just got an OTA update "offer" from Verizon that wouldn't let me decline, just delay for up to 24 hours. I have about 12 hours left before it auto-installs (4.4.3). I asked the developer of sunshine (what I used to root it) and he said that it would not brick my phone and I should be fine updating it, but it's odd I got it because I uninstalled the default crapware.
ANYWAY, will the update break the rom?

If you have not installed a custom recovery or bootloader or ROM you should be fine. Freezing certain system apps does not mean that the OTA checker is necessarily disabled.
If the the Sunshine dev told you it should be fine, then it should be fine.
edit: It will probably remove root access though, and you may need to re-root if everything goes smoothly in the first place. I don't think root would make it not update correctly, more likely it will just replace some system stuff, but maybe someone who actually owns this phone knows more than I do on this.
I am on a OnePlus One as my daily driver at the moment and we don't run into the same issues HTC users do.
