The Jelly Bean custom rom is absolutely amazing. I have been using it for almost a week now and the UI is as smooth as silk. I am loving it as well.
As far as your fears are concerned the best way to ensure that you can revert back to the stock rom is by taking a full backup in CWM recovery module prior to flashing the custom rom. This way you can restore your stock rom along with installed applications and settings at any time from CWM. Just make sure that you do not format your SD Card during the flashing phase as CWM creates a backup of 1-2 GBs of your stock rom on the SD Card. I would suggest copying it to your computer for safety.

I have been doing a lot of research on this issue over the internet, but have not found any workable solution. However there was one option for which I would like to know from the developers here if this is possible. It was suggested on one of the websites that if accelerometer or any other sensor on the Android Device is not working after installing a custom rom then replacing the system file of that sensor in the root using the file of the stock rom can make it work.
What do you guys say.
help
will u plz upload the stock rom backup or email me on [email protected] plz plzplzbro for god sak

A510 Custom Light Stock ROM Odexed
built on Acer_AV041_A510_1.099.00 and
NoThrills WorldWide optimized Stock ROM
I made this rom for my personal use but I want to share it with you
First of all, I'd like to thank you NoThrills for his roms and recovery
This rom is very close up to his, so take a look at main features on his topic
Here's what's changed:
rom is fully ODEXED (speed up boot and default applications)
default launcher replaced by HoloLauncherHD (JellyBean like launcher)
screen sensitivity bug "removed" (tablet will always start with sensitivity set to high)
olympic stuff removed (wallpaper removed and bootanimation set to iconia tab)
all Acer applications removed exept Ring, Print, DolbyMobile and DRMVideoPlayer
AmazonApps, FileManagerHD, FlashPlayer and TitaniumBackup added to flexrom
all apps up to date on 2012-10-02
Phone services removed to save more battery
original Acer kernel
Installation:
If you don't have it already, install the CWM-Based Recovery.
Download the ROM from this post and put the .ZIP file on your internal or external SD Card.
Start Recovery by powering down your device, holding the Volume down (**) button and turning it on again.
Make a Nandroid Backup. Select backup and restore and choose one of the backup options.
Select wipe data/factory reset. Select format /flexrom in mount menu.
Install this ROM by choosing install zip from sdcard and then choose zip from sdcard or choose zip from external sdcard.
Wait for the installation to finish and select reboot system now.

ps: sorry if my english is not perfect ....
Thx for ur sharing :good:

yes you can but NoThrills doesn't provide it as a flashable zip, you'll have to do it yourself
and you 'll lose the fix for screen bug sensitivity because it's include in my stock kernel

not totally satisfied with touch screen, too hard to play emulators or games that need to press more than 4 fingers ....
in any case for the price it's a good product ... but I prefer using the Asus transformer. I'll send you more details in french by PM
I have the same..want to sell it too. It's not the product that I thought it would be. Maybe gonna buy the TF300 with keyboard. I hate the touch problems.

You may try to copy /data/data/com.acer.android.acerring/lib/* to /system/lib/* -this file may be not needed by older AcerRing version or it can be extracted during first boot (this is system app after all, "market apps" do this during installation only)
good idea I'll take a look tonight if I have time
also some feedbacks are welcome

Hi,
what means "•Phone services removed to save more battery" ?
Is there really more battery (about 30min - 1h) or only 10min?
Phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk are removed, it's about 20~60min in standby mode or 10min in use
it's also less memory used, a better stability I think
But without it you can't do a factory reset from setting menu (use recovery instead)
and I think it will block the OTA checking
but with a custom root rom you don't need this features
I had using ur rom for 1 day, everything good :good:
Thx so much for ur hardwork.
Thx for remove the useless phone feature in this rom.
Maybe u can try Go Laucher HD, all free n nice.
go launcher is good but not stable
I prefer hololauncher because very close to stock and fully optimized for ICS

I want to upgrade to JB custom ROM on TF101. I have seen a quite few. But I want to know which one is the best. Also please let me know do we need to download all the apps after upgrading the ROM. Is there a way to keep the apps intact after upgrading or reinstalling by taking back up. Downloading again will take a lot of data and a lot of time. Please help.
You can back up your apps with titanium backup onto an SD card or other external storage, but you must wipe the tablet when upgrading to JB, I recommend team eos nightlies with KAT kernel, they work very nicely.
You can also get the apk files from /system/app I think or /data/app and reinstall after putting those back on the tablet after wiping.
Shall you please let me know what is the purpose of KAT kernel

I'm running Revolver 4.2.1. What are the advantages going to JB from ICS? I'm going on a long trip soon, so I'm mainly looking for stability, battery performance and keyboard/dock compatibility.
Also, I'm reading that we need to install TWRP to run JB ROMs? Or can I still use CWM?
Thanks in advance!

Lots of speed improvements over the stock kernel, fixes for different things like audio and gps
Grab the Kat-App too, that also boosts Audio and GPS

Yes move to TWRP as soon as possible or risk bricking your TF as many have done trying to flash new ROMs with CWM
If you install Goo Manager you can easily install TWRP from the top right settings menu "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
Highly recommend TeamEOS4 and KatKernel in terms of everything you are looking for for your trip
Advantages over ICS are performance and stability and a new UI (Which is swappable with the ICS tablet version from settings in TeamEOS)
OK. I looked at some tutorials to get a sense of TWRP and Goo Manager. I know you can view and download ROMs from GM. So after downloading the ROM, boot into TWRP to install it? How about flashing kernels and the Kat app you referred to? Is that downloaded and installed in the same procedure?

Yep exactly the same as a ROM, I do it this way
For a ROM
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache and System
Install ROM
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
---
For a Kernel
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install Kernel
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
---
For Gapps
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Install Gapps
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
----
Basically Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache between each flash and when your done, then reboot
For Kat App, its just an app, so wait until you're done with the above, boot into the ROM, get everything set up how you like it, then install the Kat App, its just an APK so you just use a file manager (ES File Explorer is my choice) and click it once to install it
Once in there, goto the Install section and install the GPS and Audio etc, the rest is pretty self explanatory, sections for Audio etc
EDIT - You don't have to use Goo Manager to download the ROMs or others either, sometimes its faster to use the PC and copy them over to the TF then reboot to recovery to flash them, you can use internal or external sdcards in TWRP, I have the links in my sig
EOS 4
I'll second the Team EOS 4 Recommendation
+1 for EOS4
hello developers, m quite new to android rom testing. my a110 had stock ICS v2 installed. i have few roms tested before. I always make cwm recovery backup before trying new rom. but yesterday i tried JMP 12.25 JB rom for some time and wanted to revert back to stock ics afterwards. for that i tried to restore the backup i created but the process stops at "/system" after restoring few files in that saying /system restore error. while i can restore /data, /cache /boot from advanced recovery options. the phone booted after other than /system restored in ICS but cannot say its fully functional. how to check its all working correctly. /system holds which files and procedure to correct the issue. this happened first time with a JB testing.
anyboy plz reply
anybody plz reply
do wipe before restore,
wipe cache,
advanced_ wipe dalvink cache.
mount & storage, format system.
if this not solve your problem I can't suggest anything.
+ don't tey every rom this may cause serious issues, so take one rom and use it for few months atleast.
Sent from my Micromax A110 (Canvas 2) using xda premium
You can stable at any rom and customize it as per your requirements for best performances.
I would like to suggest stock rom v2 for that because it is best for development and customization.

i'm on this rom now. i'd like to stay on it - after i get some important issues resolved.
backups using the script does not work. as you'll see, i've tried 7 storage options.
copying to usb otg using the included root explorer and es file explorer does not work.
edit: since you've been successful in deodexing stock kk rom, can you release a S005 version without any tweaks at all?
no pre-root/busybox/init.d/build.prop tweaks etc. this is so everything works as in a newly bought phone. thanks.
@m0han sir,
Sir As i already gave u the results here when i used ur script in this rom.
The error u getting its cause of root permissions only.
the file system is read only so this app doesn't have root permission to write.
Please check root permissions using any root checker app.
I will try to make that stock untouched version - it will take 5 mins to make but much time to upload.
we can use this stock kk as base and delete some files and u can get that version.

i ve tested online android backup on last rom and its working fine..so im sure your problem is the recovery..im using CWM from philz and its 100%..so if you are using TWRP use the last version it worked for you..its not rom related or kernel..just recovery version you are using..for me i cant help you more..

Thank you sir for testing this script.
@m0han It clearly shows that this script is someway dependent on CWM based recovery as it worked on philz and CTR3.0.
