XOOM 2 - Charging? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all -
I have a XOOM 2 I got as a freebie from a buddy who said it was "stuck at the motorola logo". I verified this, and downloaded all the fastboot stuff. Attempted to get into fastboot mode and fastboot indicated it would not allow flashing because the battery is low.
I plugged it into my mac, the white light next to the USB plug comes on, and after a few hours it will go out again. However when I go to start it, I get a blinking red light next to the camera.
Is there something goofy I have to do so it'll charge when the OS is wiped?

The blinking red light next to the camera is telling you it is not charged enough. Don't plug it into your pc but use a usb wall plug to charge it until the white light turns green.

I suspect I have the wrong sort of wall charger? I can't seem to ever get it to turn green.

Alright after much gizoogling, turns out Motorola flips pin 1 and pin 4 on the USB so that pin 4 is +5V. Writeup is here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/146492-how-why-make-your-own-motorola-factory-cable.html
The tablet will run and charge (although slowly) from a wall charger, but you can't actually charge it if it doesn't have an OS, and it doesn't have an OS if I'm stuck at fastboot, and if it has no battery, it won't let me fastboot...
That stupid cable lets you flash a motorola whilst charging it too. I officially hate motorola for these hoops, but it's problem solved for me. $7 on ebay.

little problem

ok so last night my NBD crashed and is stuck on the NBD splash screen..this is happened before and i just had to reflash it....
the problem this time is my battery is empty...i can jump start it (red and black wire from usb) enough to start the phone, but since i cant load the OS i cant start charging the thing....
1. is there anything i can do short of buying a new battery?
2. how long do u think it would take to force charge it with the black and red usb wires until its full enough to flash?
This happened to me, I plugged my phone into the wall charger and left it for about a half hour, it started taking a charge and I was able to boot it long enough.
however, im using an old razr charger, which the phone doesnt take a charge from unless its on....:-/
Do you get the red charging light when you force charge it? Try different miniUSB charger. Something similar to this happened to me just yesterday and I got it jump started with an iPod wall charger adapter with a normal miniUSB cable.
well by jump starting i mean...i take the battery out..take a usb cable connected to the comp, cut one end off..take the red and black wire and put it to the positive and negative battery ports..since the battery is out f the phone...no lights..
how else can u forcecharge the bat./
Stolli,
with the wall charger you should be able to re-charge:

(especially post no.11 and following)
"Normally" also with a USB connection as mentioned by ND4SPD.
Cheers!
Sorry, I didn't know what you meant. What I meant to say by jump starting was just force charging the battery in the Wizard.
I don't know if this was understood properly, but when I meant a normal miniUSB cable was that I stuck that cable into the iPod's wall charger adapter.
Keep trying and good luck!

[Q] Motorola Backflip Overheating/Won't turn on.

So, here's the deal. I have a Motorola Backflip, it has been rooted and now runs 2.1 instead of Android 1.5. A few weeks ago, I woke up after charging my phone all night and it was very hot. It wouldn't turn on, I panicked, then later I tried and it was fine. Now, it happened again this morning when I woke up. It was very hot, I waited for it to cool off, and tried to charge it again, because it wasn't charging all night. When I plug it in, it recognizes it's plugged in with a little vibration, does the white screen with the Motorola M for a bit, then shows the "0%" screen with a charging battery. Then, it vibrates to show it's plugged in, shows the white screen with the Motorola M for a bit, then once again shows the "0%" screen with a charging battery. It keeps doing that, and won't charge. I obviously can't turn the phone on since it will not charge, and the battery is dead. I am using a normal wall charger, but I will try charging it through the computer to see if that makes any difference. Any suggestions? Is my phone okay, or should I give up?

Just woke up to the very same thing with my backflip. It may have something to do with the amount of current going through the connection. I had mine plugged into the back accessory port on my old Blackberry Bold dock. The one that has a spot for the bold upfront, spot for a bluetooth headset, extra battery charger and an extra USB port on the back(I use it and my old Bold as a bedside alarmclock/internet radio now .) I had been playing a bit of leaf green on gameboid last night with it plugged in and woke up to a feircly hot Backflip that would not power on. it was on until I picked it up then turned off. i hit the power button and it just kept cycling through the moto M logo and then returning to the 0% battery screen and then off. i disconnected it from there, plugged it into my laptop where i could only get the micro-usb led to blink... it would not power on at all. I then got my Blackberry Torch's little usb wall adapter and tried that out and it worked like a charm. phone loaded up the way it was intended to.
Now as far as amperages go, for the dock i am unsure, it states on the wall plug it has an output of 1600ma, but for up to 4 devices... i am unsure as to how much power is restricted to each port if any. I only had the bold and backflip connected to it. My laptop has powered USB ports which deliver 550ma's each which is typical and in my experience often not enough to start a device from 0%. My BB wall adapter is 750ma's which has to be my personal preference. I actually refuse to plug my Torch into a USB port until i know it does not supply over 750ma's for fear of ruining my battery like had before on other phones not designed to use a 1amp charger. I am assuming my Backflip has the same idea.

Weird USB problem, phone dead

Last night I was getting ready to flash CM11 via adb sideload when I dropped my phone from less than 50cm and my computer suddenly stopped recognizing it.
I thought it was my USB cable or my Windows installation that was going crazy but when I tried to charge it, it just wouldn't. In fastboot, all i see is Battery OK but when I connect it to the wall socket, it doesn't show "Charging".
Battery is not full, it was around 20%.
When I power it off and connect it to the wall socket, the screen doesn't turn on, it just vibrates for a second and after that is totally dead. It charges, but it's totally dead and won't show the charging progress bar.
It's like the micro usb port is half-dead.
Any thoughts?
Yes man you night have broken one of the pins. You should try the wireless charging mod, I'll give you the link in a bit. But if you use your port a lot you should order a replacement online.
I saw a video on YouTube that recommended charging the phone with a higher amperage charger. I grabbed my Nook charger and left it overnight. When I woke up, it was 100% charged so then I connected it to the computer in fastboot mode and it finally showed "Charging" and could use adb.
I hope it's fixed...

[Q] turned off for a long time and now won't start

Hey all, I have a stock tf700t that was working well until the charger cable snapped. Several months passed before the replacement cable arrived. So I put it on to charge overnight, and got both the orange light initially and then the green led to say it was fully charged. But I can't get it to respond to any attempts to turn on. I tried the usual
Pwr held for 30 sec.
Pwr and volume buttons
and stincking a pin in the reset hole
- but nothing happens. no vibration or LCD response?
Reading some forums, I tried to use a PC USB port to trickle charge the device, but interestingly this does not light the LED's.
Any ideas as to what is happening?

Do you remember the charge state before you stored it? Li-ion batteries generally don't like being stored in a totally discharged condition, and if the voltage drops below a critical level, the battery can even be permanently damaged.
Try charging the tablet from a PC USB port (directly - not via the dock) - it's normal that in this case the LED does not light up.
thanks for the advice, I am pretty sure it would have been <5% battery, maybe even lower. I hope the battery is okay, and will try your idea.
The trickle charge via USB takes a long time. Leave it connected for at least 6 hours and make sure your PC doesn't hibernate or sleep.

HTC ONE E8 not booting... Guys, please help me to gets this thing turn on..

I was on the phone and it died. I immediately plugged in, turned on and attempted to make call (it was really urgent:crying, it again died. Now that I have it plugged in, and have done for about 25 minutes, the orange LED is flashing, and the screen shows up with the battery image with the electric bolt inside it to show that it's charging. But I'm fairly sure that iimage of the battery should start filling up with green colour to indicate the battery level, not sure though. It's not turning on and I can't get it to fast boot either. I tried all combinations of volume buttons and power button with charge without charge, with bright light, without bright light and so on and so forth and still I can't figure this out.
It's VIRGIN..:silly::victory: [Completely Stock]
Tried different charger and usb cable... Looks like your charger not enough to supply power required.

Yeah, tried a couple of charges and cables too.. Different power outlets too.. Still nothing happened..
when i charge the phone turned off, the orange led will not blink. it's simply light. i have a sprint version and the battery indicator in this condition is animated showing the percentage of charge. with a growing green animation. The electric bolt will shown only when i plug in the cable, but disappear after a second start charging. May the battery be damaged or under powered. If you can, try with a more powerful quick charger or bring it back to vendor.
