[Hey everybody, how ya doing?
I'm currently running cm 10.1 experimental, the KTM 747 kernel
And a 2.1 ghz over clock on my vzw galaxy s3!
I'm using this as my daily driver right now, its amazingly stable but does
Suck down the battery a little.
Figured I'd share some benchmarks with u guys!

Nice to see you're happy but I'm pretty sure majority (if not all our devices) can run at that speed (I know mine can). Seems pretty pointless since @ 1.5 it's more than enough to do everything s4 = beast.
2.1 ghz is why your battery is draining. I would like to see those screenshots. Have a hard time believing an AOSP rom is getting benches that high. No offense.

Why would you have such a hard time believing it? I belive Sammy does something to pad/boost scores . Plus I just got 11,160 on stock 1.5ghz on cm 10.1.

Yeah, I realize now that everyone here is pretty much at or above my tech level, and I should stop holding my nose so high, haha
I really like this phone. Had a droid eris for far too long.... But the s4 at 2.1 ghz just stomps everything I have... Maybe an s4 Pro could do it, too

There's nothing wrong with boasting :good:. Higher clocks will give you higher bench scores, but at this in real world performance not too certain. I mean @ 1.5 everything practically loads instantly anyways . We all start somewhere so have fun and flaunt off your device! S3 is a sexy device :highfive:.
Lol I still have a hard time believing it. I see the difference in the RAM scores is huge. No way OC the CPU will cause a huge swing in numbers like that. Ran many at different clocks.

It was reported last summer/fall that Samsung (and others) cheated on benchmarks with the S4. Don't necessarily believe the scores you achieve on TouchWiz. This is why benchmarks aren't the end all, be all.

Hey what are your quadrant results? Stock Rom, Stock Kernel I was doing 1600-1800.....I just flashed the Adrynalyne's Overclocked 1.4ghz (b) kernel..and now I am a solid 2200ish with all governers. I am still running the stock rom with all verizon bloat.
Is 2200 a good score for a Stock Rom w/ Adrynalyne's kernel o.c to 1.4?
and what are your scores with your custom roms/kernel's?
BAMF Remix 1.4 at stock=1436

2.5k.
1.4 ghz, and no cheats, and bmaf 1.4.

I'm using the Drod Kernel v1.5 and at 1.8Ghz (max) I'm getting around 2800 quadrant scores (no cheat).
I run the kernel at 1.5 normally (with great battery life I might ad) and get around 2400 (again, no cheat).

What's the point of the quadrant cheat except for meaningless bragging rights?
One of the blogs posted Quadrant scores on one of the new dual core phones (might have been Sensation) yesterday. Damn thing got 3300! Hard to believe on a stock anything.
Everyone uses Quadrant, but it's flawed and easily cheated; in one of the other phone sections I read here people are pretty passionate about not using it.
My TBolt 100% stock (rooted) only gets 1666 (evil number) on Quadrant, vs 2100 or more on my overclocked Galaxy S, but in daily use, the TBolt seems a lot snappier, even with sense. That alone tells me that Quadrant doesn't really provide real-world useful information.

Quadrant is not doubt flawed, however since it been around so long, it provides a decent comparison across different phones/platforms/roms etc. I agree that at the end of the day what matters is how the phone feels.
On my tbolt OC'd to 1.92ghz (no cheat) using Imosyeon kernel I get 3123 (no cheat). On my Nexus S OC'd to 1.4ghz (no cheat) I get 3950.
That being said, my Nexus S definitely feels faster to me. Maybe it's because it's on Gingerbread while tbolt is on 2.2. Don't really know but in this case scores match up with perception.
Just curious, but how does your Nexus S score on linpack?

Not sure, could be that Linpack is optimized for the snapdragon because on every other cpu bench like smartbench or cpu bench, etc, the Nexus S scores significantly higher.

With Tegra 2, not sure about the specs, but it lags more than one would expect (especially on the 2X). Homescreen requires multiple swipes at times to register. Where it really excels is of course gaming. There's obviously more to a device than gaming hence why the bolt is a beast. It's like walking around with a mini computer

Lol, I noticed the same thing
So, LG offers us a 2 yrs warranty, even if we root our amazing smartphone.
Samsung does not.
Everyone knows Optimus 3d has got better processor, but it still lags with every rom you actually put on it.
Also SGS2 has got very good hardware, but it's supported moooooore than our LG smartphone.
Why this?
What's wrong on our O3D??
It's just been released in USA as the Thrill.
Sent from my LG-P920 using Tapatalk
What are you talking about? LG O3D has been relased in the same SGS2 countries
the gs2 had from the start on a very huge dev community because of the sg1 and the other galaxy smartphones...
i think it only takes some time to get great devs for this phone
i currently have a galaxy 3 but i ordered the o3d and i can't wait to hold it in my hands!!
Because sgs2 is more popular than o3d
Sent from my LG-P920 using Tapatalk
@deox91: I had a sgs2 before having the o3d... I'd come back without any doubt
@dexxxterek: sure, it's popular, but how's it possible there isn't any unofficial (downloadable) gingerbread-based cooked rom (like happened with optimus 2x)? there isn't a decent kernel which fixes lags, there are no decent roms... nothing of nothing!
Gingerbread o3d update should be released in october, yes, but Ice Cream Sandwich is coming soon....

Actually, it does.
In terms of performance, OMAP4 is better.
On the S2, Exynos was just overclocked, but when both are at 1ghz, OMAP4 is better.
I've underclocked my SGS2 to 1 Ghz to test benchmarks and it still does better than OMAP4. And for real world performance, I underclock my SGS2 to 800mhz (to save battery) and notice no difference between it and 1.2Ghz.
Maybe you don't know, but Cyanogen is working for Samsung, and he's help is invaluabe ;]

I believe reason for that is the 2.2 vs 2.3 argument.
One has better dual core support and one... =/ well everyone knows the answer to that one. So just trying to tell you that underclocking one to 1ghz while its on 2.3 and the other is running 2.2 still doesn't say which is the better processor.
Also, benchmark results are very subjective to many things. I highly doubt you would have the exact same things running on both devices when you ran the tests. Even if the apps are the same, the stock apps that comes with the devices and other factors also affect the results. For example, I'm on stock rom and a very heavy user. Quadrant gives me a score of 2138. Yet, real performance is still much better than you would expect.

I really doubt that GB will bring significantly better performance. Its all about optimizing the drivers to which Samsung did VERY well (compare Debut GS2 to a Released GS2). OMAP4 has a lot of potential imo, but I'll guess we'll see in the future with updates or the Nexus Prime.

What performance boost does GB have? I remember Froyo had JIT but I don't recall anything like that being in GB.
Yes, but my aim wasn't to start a discussion about which processor is the best...
My aim was to let people able to do this, think about developing more on our amazing device.. :\
Gingerbread is faster... I have an SE X10-
From using highly customized froyo Roms to the bloated, stock gingerbread was a massive speed shift, and then once the custom Roms came out it was like having a whole new phone.
I'm here because my contract is up in a few months and I'm considering getting this phone, actually it's a toss-up between this and the SGS2.

Not true at all.
I have an SE X10 as well for a year and half now. The stock 2.3 ROM is A LOT slower than any custom 2.2 ROMs.
Only massively tweaked 2.3 ROMs like Wolfbreak or Trip's MIUI ROMs are fast. The stock 2.3 ROM is so slow and laggy.
I found it faster than scramble...

I also want more devs to develop for the O3D and a LOT less devs to develop for the SGS2 (there are 2 freaking sections for development).

I hope one good outcome of all these Apple lawsuits is that Samsung could finally stop designing phones that closely resemble iPhones (Internaional versions of GS1 and GS2 with the big HOME button in the middle) or iPad (GTab 10.1). Making some truely unique looking phones, Samsung.

2.0 ghz quadcore? wow! it'll eat the batt again!
again, batt life will be a major problem, even with the alleged 2250 mah batt
I just heard a rumor that Galaxy S4 will have 4.95 in HD screen with 1680x1050 resolution, Tegra 4 with 8 cores and laser pen with refillable ink that can be used to write on paper or as a stylus on the phone. It also comes with an extended battery that can fit into your other pocket and charges wirelessly to SGS4.

I beg to differ: the majority of the time the phone will be in deep sleep or at minimal (200? Mhz) with minimal voltage.
And according to those rumours, it gonna be 28nm fabrication process (that means lower power consumption).

no such thing as "enought powerful"
anyways, the source is 4chan. hardly the most reliable.
The only thing I am interested in are the UMTS band frequencies supported by next devices. I am tired of seeing tri- or quad-band android phones that are not necessarily compatible with every major countries. This means that you have then to wait for a specific version for your country, you are oftentimes stuck with carrier-specific phones, etc.).
And I am not talking about compatibility with new networks (LTE, 4G europe, etc.)...
Take the current generation of phones specs double them, release as rumor about new phone, repeat

Everyone needs to stop developing phones and start some R&D into a new battery technology which will be able to cope with all their dreams.
Just a note, this device is hot. Really hot. I burned myself, actually. It is never a good idea for a manufacturer to overclock a processor. The LTE does not burn battery as quickly as most people seem to think (compared to other devices), but overclocking by 0.3 GHz does.

I have never had anything to do with LG, but decided to give it a go. I will give them credit on creating the "best" phone out there. It is really the fastest in terms of network and in terms of hardware. I tested against SGSII and HTC Raider, which are certainly high-profile devices currently. Could not "get my hands on" a Galaxy Nexus.
With all its merits, the LG device is, I believe, using an APQ8060 processor overclocked to 1.5 GHz. I discharged and charged the battery multiple times, and was left with the same impression: battery runs out VERY QUICKLY. On the first day it was at around 20% per hour with minimal usage, then, by the sixth day, it slowed down to about 10% per hour (also with minimal usage).
It also tends to get quite hot, especially when charging. That nice metal below the rear-facing camera? Yeah, DO NOT touch that.
Summing it up, the device really does perform better than every other device. The problems are that it does not last (I believe one user on this forum summed it up as "the fastest device on the market for the hour that it lasts"), and that its safety is...questionable.
Yup the device has already been released in Canada as the Optimus LTE and the phoneès only saving grace is the screen on it at 1280 x 720 IPS

I cannot do anything but pity the people who have gotten/will be getting this phone.
It has always been legal to sell faulty products, just as a car company can decide to recall a million cars or leave them there and settle lawsuits due to deaths. Not quite ethical, however. Ethical is something I think I would like our dear mobile service providers to be.
All its flaws aside, that overheating issue WILL be a problem. We all love to laugh about the iPhone's occasional spontaneous combustion, but this device stands poised to take that title.
I hope what you saying about overheating is true or you going to talk to LG lawyers pretty soon!
But I'm getting this phone! If it overheat, I just return it. Nothing to lose by getting this phone!

Go ahead. I am interested in seeing results from when more people get it. My experience may be just an isolated case of two devices.
Just make sure you meet the requirements to return the phone while you are playing with it.

I used a SGS2 SR and for 1.5 Ghz it did not seem as fast as my S2 at 1.2 Ghz or the 4 core phone I got to use. ( If I say any more they will pull black ops on me and then the news will be like in the movies.)

Try running something processor-heavy. If you are going to baby it, I doubt anything will happen.
I never said it is slow. Other people did. It is fast.
Any ideas on how to root?

I'll do some heavy browsing and YouTube video watching plus some games tomorrow when I get back to work. But.. the phone has a huge banding issue. At least the one I played with did. It is clear and smooth but you can see the color separation and its like a rainbow effect. Also the build quality feels cheap compared to the vivid.

looks like LG gonna put a lil NITRO in that SKYROCKET... eh eh?? anyone?? lol
It would be the most amazing thing if someone could get the highest-end phone out right now and flash the lowest version of Android on it. I haven't seen anybody do this, so I'm curious: is it even possible to downgrade a phone by so much? This is both an idea and question, so bear with me. In your opinion, do you think the S4 would run slower or faster? Slower because the lowest android was built some 4 years ago and isn't really optimized (beta of Android). Faster because the S4 doesn't need to work half as much, and has well over the minimum processing power needed to run smoothly. So, what do the XDA community think- is it possible, is it faster, or is slower?
Impossible

I think you'll encounter a huge issue with app and hardware compatibility. Over the various versions many changes were made, such as support for more screen resolutions, higher frame rate support, support for front facing cameras, USB tethering and wifi hotspot support and better battery management, just to list a few.
So yeah, using a lower version would be a step backwards, and really would not make the most of the features available on newer devices.

How come? If you fiddle enough with it (removing the options from the reply above me)and just tweak the crap out of it, theoretically, it should work, right?

If you really find it amazing, maybe you should start petition to Samsung for S4 Retro Edition
Such devices, should have promised support for two years, with at least three DOWNgrades through OTA (Android 1.4, 1.3 and 1.2). Screen would be black and white, 128x64, mono sound and resistive touch panel.
btw. I just got BMGA update yesterday for my I9505, and I am happy with these cutting edge Android versions from Samsung. I value this Samsung commitment in Android development and fixing, so rather do not count on me in your "retro" mission... I will not put my money on such product.

Better yet why dont you install win 3.1 on your notebook or pc?
There's a workaround to it. The easiest and fastest way to do it: you have to modify the build.prop. Search for this part:
ro.build.version.release=4.3
Change it to:
ro.build.version.release=1.5
Hope it helped!
???????
Why the hell would would you want android 1.5 on the S4......... But whatever floats your boat.

My workphone is still stuck (officially) on GB 2.3.6, and trust me, I'm not happy about it.
And I know people who still use 2.1, and well, they aren't happy either.
The newer versions of Android have introduced a really great feature set, and going backward on one of the most (if not the most) high end device doesn't make much sense.
Personally, I wouldn't want Windows 1.0 on my laptop either.
