I have an HTC One S and I've been trying to get root so I can flash new ROMs. I have the TokenID string but the HTCDev website is down for new registrations since at least yesterday so I'm stuck at this step.
Is there any way to unlock the bootloader outside of HTCDev?
No

If I have stupidly done the official htcdev.com unlock and I want to S-OFF can I still use the revolutionary S-OFF method. Will doing both the official unlock and the revolutionary method cause any issues? Has anyone tried this?
S-off
I think htc's site just makes your device s-off, but use the revolutionary method because in cases of warranty, htc's site might take a number down from your phone so if you happen to send it back they'll look up that number and you have to pay for the phone again if they found out that you s-off it. plus the revolutionary way is very easy
I have already done the htcdev unlock. My device is unlocked but S-ON. My question is if I do the revolutionary unlock on top of the htcdev unlock will it damage my phone?
The only issue it gave me was wipe all my downloaded apps, contacts, and homescreen layout (everything else was in tact).
I also have some issues getting into the bootloader (sometimes it works, sometimes it dosen't).
I've unlocked the bootloader through HTC Dev, and still have S-On.
I used rev to s-off and tried a few custom roms then flashed the 1.45 euro ruu and then used the htcdev to unlock bootloader againg just to see if it would work as I have a T-Mobile UK branded handset. HTC has 2 levels of unlock you have bootloader unlock and s-off you don't need s-off to flash custom fw just first stage unlock which leaves s-on but you will have a pink bar with unlocked in it at the top of your bootloader. Unlock still has a limited warrenty but s-off voids all warenties

HI. I tried to unlock my bootloader and i did and it goes from lock to unlock. And then i did smth that it goes from unlock to ''relock security warning''. What it means? what is the difference between unlock and relock? sry, i'm noob and i'm just trying to root my HTC evo 3d.
Apologies for my english and noobnes.
rooting htc phones needed to unlock the bootloader you juust relocked your bootloader. until bootloader is locked nothing can be written in /system partition and without write access no root access so again try to unlock the bootloader
Basically I want to root my replacement phone.
Does anyone have a technique for unlocking the bootloader on the au J Butterfly with firmware 1.39.970.1?
I've tried the diggetroot method, but the phone kept shutting down before I could execute the /db/shell command.
I've tried various techniques from all over the web, with no success. Am I missing something?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you need to downgrade first, to the version that you can unlock bootloder or S-OFF. I have never tried downgrading though.
Other S-OFF method needs bootloader unlock, but only revone S-OFF doesn't need boot loader unlocking.
If you don't want to use custom kernel(or ROMs based on custom kernel), you don't have to unlock bootloader.
If you don't care about unlocking bootloader, use whichever method you want, Of course...

Hello all is rooting a HTC One Mini the same as any other HTC phone.
I am guessing you go through HTC Dev and so on.
Yes that's correct.
Unlock bootloader then you can root.
Unlock your bootloader with htcdev and flash then the SuperSU zip. You can find it on the website
You can also install a great app called unlock root and unlock boot
