Realy f#@ked up this time.. - Verizon Droid Charge

So my phone has been slowly dying. Camera stopped working 50% of the time, then vibrate stopped working, then my messaging app would force close every 4 hours or so forcing a restart. So I decided I'd had enough and went to re-flash back to stock.
Plugged my phone into the normal USB drive I plug it into flashed EP4 and the PIT file. a little bit into the process I got a RX_Timeout error on my phone. Googling this came up with a couple people with the same problem and they said to switch where the phone is plugged into so I unplugged my phone took out the battery and plugged it back into my computer and nothing...
It won't turn on won't spin wurr make noises **** nothing. As a member of this community for over 2 years I know that bricking my phone this bad out of warranty means I'm pretty much screwed.
So I'd like to take this time to say good bye to my fellow charge owners. I might as well take this time to upgrade my phone rather than waste money and time on another charge. Unless someone can miraculously help me, this is goodbye. Thank you dwith, imnuts and kynalvarus and to all of the themers and troubleshooters out there, it's been a tough journey but a great experience none-the-less.
Love,
P2Kmafia

take your battery out and put into download mode and put the battery back in and Odin flash...that way if your note 2 needs some down time you can move your sim card to the charge for a bit... oh wait... that's what I am doing... btw upgrade to the note 2 on Amazon... 200...good luck and hope you find one that whirls and purrs...

The same thing happened to me. I could not get it to start. Luckily I had 3 days of my warranty left.

Ya, figured it was a lost cause nothing worked, bought a gnex and extended battery/cover for $200 definitely a steal. It was running cyanogenmod 10.1 when I bought it, so clutch.

Yep I left that hunk of junk too for a gnex!

[Q] Random Shut Downs, Only when plugged in

i have been getting some random shut downs but only when plugged in to a wall charger. at first i figured it was due to heat while being charged. but the phone could shut down while plugged into the wall at any given time no matter how much charge there is or how long it's been plugged. Last night I plugged it in before bed at 30% and today I woke up at 44% with the phone off. Sometimes it's minutes until it shuts down and sometimes it's hours. It's the same on any Rom/Kernel I tried. Thinking it may be a hardware issue. Any ideas? Thanks.
Currently Trigger2X 14 - Faux SV 3.5
Happens to me too... I'm on stock though.
And is it me or does charging the phone off seem to be ineffective?

which makes me believe this is strictly hardware. its not really like the software related reboots of the past. too bad i can't get it to go while plugged into pc, otherwise i could check logs to see what was up. let me know if you can recreate like clockwork. thx
Its hardware trust me. I've had in total like 6 g2xs and this is the first I've had with the issue.. I also have another now.. Both have the same rom, baseband, kernel and apps. Yet my new one shuts down on the charger.... Its hardware for sure and a replacement is in route. No point trouble shooting its a bad phone.. Threes many good ones just be patient... Now to wait for replacement...
If your on your 6th G2x, did you have to pay the 20 dollar exchange fee or whatever it's called? It would get pretty expensive after your 3rd or so G2x.

no. Bought first one full price it had no issues but dust, return no fee, then I exchanged again from pixel, no fee. Thats 3. Then I sold it for a sensation. Had bad luck with the sensation so I sold traded it on CL for a G2x and cash. Well that g2x was awesome too. so thats 4. I then dropped that ***** hard and had to exchange for another no fee again because I paid 130 through asurion. Thats 5. that g2x is awesome too. Now on a new line of service I got a free g2x with a online deal, so theres 6. Thats the one Im on now and it sucks donkey doooo.
but ive had enough to know there are good ones with no issues. I knew this one was gonna have issues cause of the ratio of no issues vs hearing issues here. LoL time to hunt for the good one again. LOL then after this I got to get the other g2x replaced again cause it was dropped again, and I cant have that. So Asurion that will be.....
Wow. Asurion must love you! LOL!
Last time I gave T-Mobile support a call, they wanted 20 bucks.
But that's a lot of G2x's my friend. And how much cash did you add on top to get the Sensation?

Oh and only 270 for sensation used upgrade.
This sounds like a defective battery. If your phone was plugged in at 30%, then you slept all night and woke up to a 44% charge with the phone powered down, that means that the battery was not taking any incoming charge for the vast majority of the night, nor does it seem that the battery was powering the phone for the majority of the night. Charging from 30->100% should only take 2.5 hours or so - maybe 3.
It could be that when you plug it in, it heats up - and thus expands. This could cause a loose connection to the battery somewhere (maybe something as simple as the physical contacts for the battery, or could be something more intricate inside the phone).
As much as you don't want to hear it, i'd say you'll probably need to take it to a store or send it in for replacement.

Thats my thought. It's still plugged in but does not charge. Forgot to mention that it requires a battery pull to restart. So possibly the phone is not really off, just in a non responsive idle state. Im going back to stock for now to see if that changes anything. I know they will ask if I got the update so I might as well. Thanks for the info.

Half the time its off, and half in a non responsive idle state. Cause sometimes you can turn the phone on, and sometimes you need a battery pull and the ***** is hhhhhhoooottt.
I doubt theres a loose connection when it expands as the copper connections in the corner are pretty lines up and expanding would only make em touch more you would think.

Sensation 4G Won't Charge Or Turn On.

About an hour ago I tried charging my phone because I was going to flash a new Rom and it wouldn't charge. The LED Light doesn't even come on. It was at 15% when I first noticed it doesn't charge. I tried multiple chargers and USB cords but still no luck and me turning the phone on and off constantly trying to diagnose the problem caused the battery to die. I haven't dropped my phone and it doesn't have water damage. Please help
Still on contract may warranty it its sounds dead if you tried diffent plugs and battery
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
Thanks for the response I appreciate it... The battery works it just won't charge. What do you mean when you say it sounds dead? I don't know if I can get insurance from it because I traded my old phone for it with a friend. I have insurance though. Do you still think I should warranty exchange or use my insurance?
i had the SAME exact issue 2 weeks ago and made a post about this with a weird story to it. But there is nothing that I could of done and luckily I had insurance so I got a replacement and I suggest you do the same.
Warranty may still be good though. Is it rooted?
Sent from my Sensation 4G using xda premium
Yes it's still rooted but I'll find a way to brick it and take it to the T-Mobile tomorrow. If they won't replace it I'll just use my insurance. Luckily I still have a Samsung highlight from like 2009 I can use for the time being. Thanks guys I really appreciate your feedback.
Flash radio, remove battery halfway through should kill it.
try adb reboot with battery in before you brick it, you never know

Samsung Galaxy S 4G suddenly keeps shutting itself off

Ok guys let's see you work that voodoo that you do so well...
I got the idea to come here when someone of a T-Mobile support forum for Samsung Galaxy S 4G said they gave up on getting any help from those people but the guys from XDA were great and her phone has worked right since speaking with them. So here I am.
I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 G since July 2011, no real issues at all aside from a few random freeze ups from various programs. Well, a few days ago it starts turning itself off randomly. Sometimes it turns itself back on when I press the on button, sometimes I have to plug it back in, sometimes it says the battery is way less than it was right before it shut itself off. So I do what any savvy computer person does that's still a noob at anything technical- I learn how to reset the phone to its factory settings, delete all data and start fresh, figuring I had some bug in the system. This did nothing to help.
So I go online and discover all these different web forums with people complaining about the same problem. They all say the same thing, update the phone, don't update the phone, reboot, don't reboot, nothing fixes it. I even considered there being the "impossibility" of a loose battery connection and cut a thin strip of a business card to shove between the phone base to push the connection end tighter together.
The only place on any forum that anyone seemed to find an answer, albeit the answer was not discussed, mentioned coming here.
I apologize in advance if I don't immediately understand any technical details people may offer up as help, but please please please if anyone has an idea of how to fix this issue let me know.
Thanks in advance to everyone for their thoughts or suggestions :cyclops:

yeah mine did that too new battery helped... my my touch also had a problem with the battery staying in place; so try the business card trick and leave your phone on a flat surface with no movement and for a day without charging... Don't blow money on the battery if you aren't sure, unless you've wanted a backup battery anyway.

Good ideas so far...
One more thing, I've noticed the few times today its lasted for awhile and then I go to show someone something on youtube, it will play part of the video like 30 secs or so and then 'blip' we're back to automatic shut down again. Does this spark any different ideas?

Ok so I mentioned before about the 30 secs of video and then dead right? Based on the theories so far, which I'm also leaning towards and praying is correct, I ordered a new battery, won't be here for 3-5 days, but I decided to test an idea...
I thought perhaps if its the battery, if I plugged in the charger, things that kept shutting me down should 'in theory' continue to work.
So I plugged it in and tried to watch the same video 'Cat man do' again and see if it died in the same place it had done 3 or 4 times before or if it would work on through. And guess what, it played through the whole video, no random shut downs.
So I believe this might go a long way to proving your theories on the battery are correct, also the battery itself seems to be slightly swollen through the middle, which could cause a host of different issues, not the least of which would be slightly changing its size and therefore its connection to the power cup link.
Still happy to hear any other ideas, but as soon as I get and test the new battery I will repost on here and let you guys know if that did the trick.
Thanks again so much!

Hadn't thought of that. Sure hope not though, been using this 32 gig sdcard since a week after I bought it and haven't experienced any issues with it during that whole year. Do you suspect anything on the sd card or just the card itself, just in case this battery issue isn't the culprit.

First back up your sdcard. Copy all of its contents to your computer.
I do this every now and then, because if my phone eats my sdcard, I keep all my pics and music.
Second, reboot to recovery: Advanced -> Partition sdcard
It should then ask about ext partition size and swap partition size. I usually set ext partition to 2048 and swap to 0. We don't use swap. ext is the sd-ext partition, but iirc, recoveries with voodoo lagfix will use that to backup partitions it is converting. It has to be 2048 or it will fail. Unless you will never use older voodoo lagfix (which none of my roms/kernels do) you can use any size you wish.
Repartitioning sdcard can take a while, so be patient.

I am 110% sure its your battery. Same exact thing happened to me battery was swollen and it kept randomly shutting off whenever I used internet based apps. I ordered a new factory Galaxy s 4g battery from amazon for about $8 popped it in and it stopped shutting off and battery life was actually way better. I suspect the swollen battery is caused by stuffing the business cards in the battery compartment.

I had the very same issue 2 months ago, and it was the battery. I think the telltale sign of what is happening is that when your phone reboots, it has gone from almost a full charge to just a few percent. The issue as I understand it is that basically, when higher processing loads are being placed on the battery by the phone, at some point, it cannot provide the level of requested power, at which point, your phone believes the battery has died, and shuts down.
I swapped the SGS4G stock battery (1650 mAh) for the Anker 1800 mAh battery, and had great success and no issues. Best part is, you can buy 2 of them (which includes a wall charger as well) for $20 bucks on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Batteri...2126170&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=anker+1800+s4+g (Free 2 Day shipping if you have Prime) Things are almost disposable at that price, but the Ankers have worked great, and not had the reboot issue since.

And for the record, ANYtime your battery ends up swollen and distorted, you can guarantee that it's on its way out. At work a few years ago, had an issue where we were supposed to support PDAs and their battery life went down to seconds rather than the days they were supposed to last. Turns out their cells were swollen, sometimes enough to actually distort the back of their case. Replace the battery pack and get back to normal life. Without exploding batteries.
Random news story from 4 years ago with swollen battery pictures:

Great- thanks for the advice. Glad to hear from a few others as well that this should take care of the problem.

Nexus S won't power up?

I recently flashed CMRex with Kejar's 4.1.1 gapps and was going about setting up my device. I got everything set up how I like with all the apps I wanted downloaded and running how I wanted them. I then ran the v6 supercharger mod that I had used on my past two roms with no problem whatsoever. After finishing the set up of the script, I rebooted my device and all was well. I went to browse on craigslist's mobile app, then I saw something I wanted to google, so I opened my browser. My browser took an ungodly amount of time to load my homepage(google), and wouldn't respond hardly. I couldn't get the touchscreen to respond. My hardware buttons did respond and I got haptic feedback from them, but no response on the screen. Eventually, after numerously pressing the home button, I got a message saying the browser wasn't responding, selected ok to close it, then back to the non-responsiveness of the touch screen and hardware buttons. And then another eventually later, after another multitude of home button presses, I got to my homescreen but everything was laggy. The most lag I have ever encountered with my device since I obtained it, not to mention that my device was beginning to heat up. So, I decided I would power off the device, remove the battery, let it cool down, and then replace the battery before powering it back up. Well, lo and behold, I did just that, went to power back up my device, and there was no sign of life at all. Tried to get into the bootloader, no response. Tried a normal boot, no response. Tried to plug it into the charger to see if it would charge, no response. Well, my girlfriend told me to leave the battery out for a while and leave it alone for a while before trying it again. So, I played some MW3 for about 45 minutes to an hour, repeated all the above, and still no sign of life. Can anyone help me out? (I don't know if this is supposed to go into the Q&A or here, so I just post here.) I'm so distraught at the possibility of losing my phone, that I'm finding it hard to cope at the moment. Should be thinking of ways to gain some money in order to purchase a new device or is there still hope?
what a long message.do you have any point form here?
i hope you solve the problem .
Do you have access to a separate charger? You can try charging your battery there and see if that works. Did you try connecting it to the computer? Maybe that will show some sign of life. Also, how old is your phone and did you over clock?

I did not overclock, I do believe that my clock speeds were at the kernel default, either 100/1k, or 200/1k. Not sure which, but definitely one of those. The only other charger I would have access to would be my mother's HTC charger, but I will try that and connecting it to the computer as well. Well, I'm not exactly sure on the age of the phone because I purchased it off of craigslist, but it's in great condition. Only had a small scuff on the top left corner, but I know that has nothing to do with the age of the hardware. ): Could it possibly be that my battery decided to die for some reason? I've been having horribly battery life lately. Granted, I had horribly battery life when I got the phone, but it's gotten worse and worse since then.
My Nexus S wouldn't start but gave a flash on the screen when the battery was first inserted. Just got it back from repair and it was a motherboard problem. Was looking at a Huawei G300 as a cheap replacement if the repair wasn't covered by warranty (which it was). Good luck!
Thing about it is, I bought the phone off craigslist so I have no idea if its covered by the warranty still. Should I try calling samsung and find out?

Sorry for my late reply! You could try, but u guess you can get a battery from Ebay and check if that solved the problem. Or if you have a friend who has one...

I'm the only person I know that has this phone. And I guess the battery will have to wait till I get a job, but if im waiting that long, I'm just going to get a new phone all together.

Testing the battery can be done differently, do you have a multimeter? Maybe your neighbours have one, it's a common thing. You can measure whether it has any power left. If you measure low voltage (below let's say 3400 mV), then it could be battery related.

I recently flashed CMRex with Kejar's 4.1.1 gapps ... or is there still hope?

Many reports on dead Nexus S with 4.1.1. Mine included after flashing CM10. Sent for repair 10 days ago and still waiting...
If you've got no warranty, perhaps time to buy a new phone? Bought myself a new Galaxy Nexus.
I would like to get a new galaxy nexus, but I have no money to do so. I'm currently trying to get a job and i m going to save up for a new phone. Im either going to get an s3, a galaxy nexus. Either one of those two or the new nexus if it comes out.
