So...my desire is acting strange (yes i use the search funtion, but found nothing close).
If i start the phone without sim, no problem. all good. but with sim in it, it reboot right after launcher appear (if i'm fast enough, i can activate airplane mode, so it wont reboot).
the only way i manage to keep it open, is to connect the charger. it seems to work, but if i call someone, the image is freezing, all buttons/touch will not work, but io can speak with the other person. and if the battery is low enough will reboot
oh, without charger it just close..with charger it reboot...
can it be a battery problem?

Which Mainboard revision do you have? Pvt1? You can see that in the bootmenu.
PVT4
later today i'll buy a new battery, i will try that too. it have also a strange behavior, it discharge very fast from 70%, and the strangest thing is that if i leave the phone off, connect the carger for a while, and turn on with charger on it works. if i activate 3g and mobile data (more battery consumation) it turns down/reboot/freeze... i'll try that too and post here my results
i forgot to mention is a sh phone, i don't know what it have been throught

Ok I thought your Mainboard could be one of the first revisions. Had Pvt1 and my phone rebooted very often when I plugged it out of the socket. Now pvt4 has no problems.. Try another rom?

so i'll try a new battery today. i've changed already 3-4 versions of roms (4.0.4, 4.1.2, 4.2.1). i'm thinking to get it to stock rom, to see if that helps, but i doubt...

How can I change from Pvt1 to Pvt4? My phone rebooted very often too. I used SanDisk 10 class 32gb sdcard.

You have to replace the Mainboard with the latest revision. Send it to HTC, if you still have warranty. Mine was replaced for free due to warranty

Hi y'all,
My 3 days old sensation doesn't power up. It's S-Off, rooted and I've been testing different roms on it until I got to the revolution HD. I followed all the steps, Super swiped, flashed it, but the first time I rebooted it didn't power back on; I tried "power+Volume down" and no results.... I've tried removing the battery for an hour or so and trying and it still didn't work.. Kind of pissed cuz I paid the full non subsidized price for it ($530).
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Wow I'm sorry to hear that did you try plugging it into the charger and wait about 20 minutes and see if you can boot it into clockwork mod

Hey so sorry to hear what happened... I can imagine the pain going through..
Can you give some more details?
1. Does it vibrate when you press potter button?
2. Does it show any charging light when you plug in power?
3. try charging for one hour or replace battery with another sensation set as sometimes battery can be culprit
I always try to prevent running that super wipe script since that pays with your partitions...

had your battery ran down all the way?
that happened to me and i had to do a battery swap and forwhatever reason it worked after that. i can still use my other battery no problems.
just something from my experience. might want to think about getting a secondary battery, just in case. 10 dollars.

Hi All,
1- No, it doesn't do anything. no vibration, no light. It like the battery's been completely drained.
2- Also nothing happens when I try charging it (I only tried charging thru the PC though)
3- I ordered a new battery, so hopefully that would fix it. Whats weird is that when I started the installation process the battery was more than half full.
First of a you need to try and charge from mains, does your pc make any noise or do anything at all when you pop it in?

Sorry to tell you but...Its bricked. Mine just did this last night.
It was charging...Once done, I took it off the charger and set it down. I came back to it later to use it and it was completely dead. No response.
I connected it via usb to my laptop to try the ADB reboot and was told by my computer the DREADED "cannot install drivers". That was the last action that happened.
Tmobile is sending me a new one. Have to go till monday with an old flip phone.
Call Tmobile. They called it hardware failure.

Holy Crap!!! I just realized what I've done. While browsing my downloads on my PC I found two superwipe zip files: One for the sensation and one for the EeePad... I might have used the Eeepad zip file!!! Damn it! Most probably that's what killed the phone... But whats weird is that even after the superwipe, the phone was on. It didn't die until i decided to reboot it.... DUMB! DUMB!DUMB!

I feel your pain. Not knowing what killed it is the worst part. I dont know if it was some ticking time bomb from a ROM, Kernel, theme, or if it was just an honest quality control issue that finally reared its ugly head.
The one clue I have is that when I got my phone on day one, long before rooting and all the magic, it did this to me...ON DAY ONE! After freaking out and doing a battery pull, it finally booted after holding down the power button for a minute. This time, however, its done for. If your PC wont recognize it, then its dead. Simple as that.
Id either call tmobile, or call HTC to see if they will fix it. (They will likely reflash it the elite way if its software related). If its hardware failure, then they will replace it.
I hadnt done anything serious to mine. It just stopped all on its own. The tmobile tech guy said its hardware failure for who knows what reason? I know that my phone has been buggy for a long time. Should have done this back when it was working!
Lesson to be learned: Dont put up with stuff that a warranty exchange can fix. Dont wait for a total brick to occur on its own. If you suspect issues, SWAP IT!
Word to your mother yall...

Hi guys,
Need some help here
I have a HTC Sensation, I'm using Android Revolution HD 6.6.2, everything was working fine until this morning. My phone made a strange beeeeeeeeep, I couldn't do anything, so I turned it off, and since, no way to turn it on again. I last charged the phone last night, so the battery shouldn't be a problem.
I tried to boot with vol. down and power, not working.
When I plug the charger, the light doesn't turn on.
I really have no idea what to do next. Any tips ?
My main problem is that I bought the phone in Ireland, and I since moved in France, so I can't go back to the place where I bought it to replace it..

Can you see the phone when you plug it to your computer?
Or you could try a new battery
Nop, nothing on the comp when I plug it.
I have a spare battery, same issue.
I just tried to boot without the sim and the sd card, it worked (wtf ?).
Shutted it down, and no power once again.
I'm gonna try with another sim card when my wife will get back home, will keep you informed, thanks for the answer.

I had this problem and what I did in the end was use the Android Debug Bridge. Here are instructions on how to install it:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
Then once you've installed it run command prompt (Start>Run>cmd) and type cd/androidsdk/tools (or whatever location you've installed the adb to)
Plug your sensation into your pc with USB and then type adb devices into command prompt. Hopefully it will come up with a code below devices attached.
Then...type adb reboot recovery and hopefully your device will boot into recovery, from which you can relfash a rom or whatever
Hope that helps!

panic! lol I'm not sure - my first guess would be that the battery has somehow died - that would explain why there is no light when you charge it, just the same as if you were to try and charge it without any battery plugged in! If you have a multimeter, try measuring the voltage output from your battery and ensure that the battery is making proper contact with the terminals in the battery compartment

I tried it with another battery, still nothing. I phone has just like completely shut down. I was in the middle of flashing a ROM when it froze up on me and I turned it off. Turned it back on... well I tried to.. and it never woke up. Is it permanently bricked or what?

Ohh it froze while flashing a Rom ???
That's bad man it might have corrupted all the partitions especially if bootloader partition got corrupted then your phone is bricked which seems to happen in your case . you got no luck with adb/fastboot?
Edit:
You were able to bootup without sim and sdcard? Then have you tried another sdcard

Hi, I actually just experienced the exact same problem. I actually finished flashing the ROM and everything rebooted..and reinstalled the apps too. While calling on the phone...all of a sudden it made the beep sound. IT rebooted the first time..and I Thought everything was ok. Then I made a call again...and after a minute or so...the long beep came on...and then now it's completely unresponsive...no light when plugged...can't turn on.
Any update or ideas?
Hi everybody, I followed every single steps of the guide to install ICS and ARHD 6.6.3 on my phone, but something went wrong... It hasn't yet booted to the home screen after 1.5 hours it finished to flash the ROM. It's stuck on the white screen with the "htc - quietly brilliant" logo. What can I do? I tried to turn it on by pulling out the SIM and SD cards, but it doesn't solve the problem.

Can you do a restore?
Or go into recovery?
ICSensation 4G
No...it won't turn on...won't do anything with volume down + power...or when plugged in to PC and ran as ADB
A follow-up of my situation..
The day I started the thread, I was finally able to start again my phone, don't ask me how, I have absolutely no clue ! I removed the battery, sd card, sim card, put them back, and so on, for hours, and finally it worked..
BUT.
This morning, same situation. And I can't get it back to power up, once again.
I can't access it through adb, as the phone is totally powered off.
Wondering if it's a bug from Android HD 6.6.2 as newr got the same version and the same problem..
Hmm...so you got it booted up again? So it's not a hardware problem? I don't know if it's the ROM problem..it happened afetr I installed 6.6.2...but mine never did turn back on...no matter what I did....can't connect to ADB...can't turn on...can't charge.
I just sent it back to HTC...hopefully it won't turn on...as if they do..they'll say it's not under warranty cuz it's rooted.
Anyone have problems with 6.6.2? If it's causing it...it should be told as otherwise, others may have problems turning on their phones.
How can we tell if it's hardware vs. software?
I tried a lot of things since yesterday, but this time it's not booting again.. *sigh*
And in France, apparently you can't send it to HTC directly, you have to send it to one company working with them, where you have to pay 20 euros just for the diagnostic, I'm so f*cking happy right now.
Same problem here. Weird noise, line across the screen and dead. Plugging USB into PC comes up with a detection noise but immediately fails to find drivers. Any one had any more luck?
Are you all using the same rom? Maybe the developer of the Rom knows something about it, I would ask. Seems strange that your all using same Rom and same thing is happening to you all. Hopefully it can be fixed! I wish you all the best! Wish I knew of a solution but sadly I do not . Best wishes .

Hi! Sorry if this was posted in the wrong forum, im new here
I installed Fallout V 4.3.0 on my HTC DS and everything was working fine. But then suddenly my phone started to restart randomly. 1-2 minutes after booting it restarts again. If i take out the battery, wait 1 minute, and the put i back in the phone starts automatically again. Then another 1-2 minutes before restart loop.
This does not happen when the charger is plugged in. First thing i thought was a battery-issue, but this happened after flashing a ROM, so?
The phone was working fine on Fallout V 4.0.0, problem occured when updating.
-I wiped everything before installing the ROM.
-Have tried to reinstall Fallout, same problem
-Have tried to install Endimyon, same problem.
Information about the phone:
Current ROM: [Endymion V3.5|Sense 3.5|GB 2.3.5][kernel V2.2|ControlCenter]
Hboot: 6.98.1002
Radio: Default
S-off
Would appreciate some help, as my phone is useless atm! :crying:
Hello,
Maybe this should be posted in the Fallout thread (however you have to make 10 posts before being able to post in the dev section...). Up to the moderators to move your thread or not
I have had some similar issues after flashing Fallout, except my phone didnt reboot but it just went off a couple of minutes after i tuned it on. Although this just seemed to happen once. After I turned it on again, everything ok until I charged it to 100%, turned it on again - and same issue.
I then flashed CM9, same issue.
I read somewhere that it might be a charge level display issue : when you plug the phone in charge and unplug it right away, battery indicator will say it is charged to 100% - while obviously it is not...
Hope that will help you.

Yes. Do you think buying a new battery will do the trick?
Time for the really stupid question - but it is the old one and has been a problem for many people (including me).
Have you tried to insert a piece of paper, folded so it is 3 or 4 sheets thick, in between the battery and the back of the phone when you insert it? There is a manufacturing tolerance which can cause the battery to move and lose connection to the contacts sometimes.
It's probably not the solution for you, but it's a damn sight cheaper than buying a new battery immediately.

Thanks for answering, but i've tried that... The weird thing is that if i turn on the setting "screen always on", the phone does not restart. Or if the charger is plugged in. It only restarts some seconds after the screen goes black (inactivity) or if i press the power button.
Sadly I don't have an answer for you, however, I wanted to recommend that you avoid taking your battery out as that can cause damage to the emmc chip and thus brick your phone

Don't worry about the eMMC chip that the other poster mentioned - the problem is not caused by removing your battery - it is caused by not removing it properly, or by removing and reconnecting it quickly which means there is still residual charge when it reconnects.
Given the more detailed description, I assume you have a custom ROM running? If so then try two things
1) Try to decrease the under-voltage settings by 50mV
2) Increase the minimum CPU speed.
It sounds like the phone is going to sleep, but is slowed down too much and a reboot is forced.

Tried your suggestion, but no luck. Will buying a new battery give me any chance?
It might do. I would be tempted to find a phone shop and ask them if you can test your phone with a battery from them before buying it though - just in case it is something else causing this.

Hy Guys!
My DS is doing the same thing after I istalled the ICE DS 5.1. Funny thing is it started only after 1 day. It was working perfectly until it restarted after pressing the power button. I've tried different ROMs (CM 7.2; Fallout 5) but it happend almost instantly. Also tried the CPU voltage, no result.
I'm curious superlorre if the new battery did the trick?
Or is there a thread I missed where the problem got solved?
Thanks in advance.

It's possible it's a problem with the charger and/or battery. Try and borrow a compatible charger and battery from someone else (I dunno if other HTC phones use the same battery, if not, it may be hard to find someone).
Also, before doing that even, try turning on the phone while holding the volume down button. If that makes the bootloader screen appear, it may be a software issue. In this case, you could try running one of the RUUs (these are HTC issued applications which run on your computer and reinstall the stock ROM on your phone, at least that's how I understand it).
If you can't access the bootloader, it's probably a hardware issue e.g. problem with battery/charger (easy to replace) or some other important component (not so easy to replace; in this case, it's probably either send to service centre or else buy a new phone).

If you can't access the bootloader, it's probably a hardware issue e.g. problem with battery/charger (easy to replace) or some other important component (not so easy to replace; in this case, it's probably either send to service centre or else buy a new phone).

I have tried to use my one x charger and i have tried to get into the bootloader. Im going to buy a battery and give that a go.
May be battery must be wake up with external power to battery plus and minus. Current must not be over 1,5 ampers.

Hi,
You're not going to believe this but .....
My Son's phone had the same problem and I figured an unusual way of sorting this out.
Did a lot of searching and there are many instances of HTC phones, when left discharged for weeks will not charge.
No solutions though - until now
The charger that came with the phone whistles (low buzzing noise) when the phone is disconnected.
I used this to determine that the phone, when dead, was not charging - I could hear the buzzing when the phone was connected.
Procedure I used as follows:
I warmed up the battery in my hands (told you it was unusual )
put the battery back in the phone
plugged in charger
it goes quite for a few seconds and then starts to buzz (indicating it no longer was charging)
plug out when this happens and repeat from step 3 until the buzzing stops (repeated 4 or 5 times)
once the buzzing didn't reappear indicating it was charging I left charger plugged in
after a few seconds the battery screen appeared with 0% & charging - SUCCESS
left it to charge as normal
If you don't have a (helpful) buzzing charger
you could try plugging out in the charger every 10 seconds
Thanks for all the posts. I managed to get it to boot by replacing the battery.
@haongusa your solution of warming the battery with my hands worked. I now have two batteries :silly:
wish i had seen this post a few weeks back my phone turned off and would not charge had to send it off to htc for repair, which took two weeks.
This is something that has really started to annoy me, It started happening I guess since I put stock ICS on, You take the phone out of your pocket and its turned off by itself, Or even when randomly using it, it just decides to turn itself off, its not a reboot it doesn't come on again. It has done this 5 times today.
I have also noticed when using the phone for any amount of time on the back beside the USB port is roasting hot, to the extent I can still feel the heat when I put it in my pocket.
Anyone any ideas on the issue,
probably it seems battery related
check if the battery fits as it is suppose to be
I had a big problem with this soon after I bought the phone (used).
The fix was fold and cut some kitchen paper and place between phone and battery.
Never a problem since.
Of course, your problem may be software related, if you made changes. Go back to old software if you can.
Good luck.
I've had it, flashed custom Rom and never occured again

Also, if nothing else works (seriously, probably just bad contacts of the battery, so the paper advice should work), there is a rare problem with the phone rebooting (not shutting down, but all is possible) when it switches to 2G, so locking it to WCDMA only could solve it.

I put Viper ROM on at weekend at it happened today, I was using the Gold 2450 battery, I might try the original and see what happens
That happened to me on aosp jb, now I'm on sense jb and so far so good. It only happened when the battery was close to empty

Im having trouble working out what the issue is, I changed the battery yesterday, took it of the charger just now to discover the phone had turned off again
Nevermind, it's even worse now. Here's what happens:
1. I charge and drain the phone to 1% when it turns off but gives me a warning
2. I turn on the phone again and it shows 16%, but turns off without warning way before 1%
3. Every time I turn it on again, it shows a random battery charge (2-10%) and turns off without warning randomly
I don't know what's going on. It's like the calibration is messed up but it shouldn't be since I calibrated the battery. I'm going to buy a new battery and see if that fixes it.
Edit: Actually, I'm gonna go back to ICS, and then to a stock ROM first (not sure which one is it)

Well, that battery is very cheap and poor to be honest.
If they lie so much about the mAh of the battery, I wouldn't trust that battery at all.
Well, try another rom maybe?
ViperS was super-stable for me.
