Hi y'all,
My 3 days old sensation doesn't power up. It's S-Off, rooted and I've been testing different roms on it until I got to the revolution HD. I followed all the steps, Super swiped, flashed it, but the first time I rebooted it didn't power back on; I tried "power+Volume down" and no results.... I've tried removing the battery for an hour or so and trying and it still didn't work.. Kind of pissed cuz I paid the full non subsidized price for it ($530).
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
Wow I'm sorry to hear that did you try plugging it into the charger and wait about 20 minutes and see if you can boot it into clockwork mod

Hey so sorry to hear what happened... I can imagine the pain going through..
Can you give some more details?
1. Does it vibrate when you press potter button?
2. Does it show any charging light when you plug in power?
3. try charging for one hour or replace battery with another sensation set as sometimes battery can be culprit
I always try to prevent running that super wipe script since that pays with your partitions...

had your battery ran down all the way?
that happened to me and i had to do a battery swap and forwhatever reason it worked after that. i can still use my other battery no problems.
just something from my experience. might want to think about getting a secondary battery, just in case. 10 dollars.
(does the charging light blink orange 4 times, then nothing?

Hi All,
1- No, it doesn't do anything. no vibration, no light. It like the battery's been completely drained.
2- Also nothing happens when I try charging it (I only tried charging thru the PC though)
3- I ordered a new battery, so hopefully that would fix it. Whats weird is that when I started the installation process the battery was more than half full.
First of a you need to try and charge from mains, does your pc make any noise or do anything at all when you pop it in?

Sorry to tell you but...Its bricked. Mine just did this last night.
It was charging...Once done, I took it off the charger and set it down. I came back to it later to use it and it was completely dead. No response.
I connected it via usb to my laptop to try the ADB reboot and was told by my computer the DREADED "cannot install drivers". That was the last action that happened.
Tmobile is sending me a new one. Have to go till monday with an old flip phone.
Call Tmobile. They called it hardware failure.
Matt
Holy Crap!!! I just realized what I've done. While browsing my downloads on my PC I found two superwipe zip files: One for the sensation and one for the EeePad... I might have used the Eeepad zip file!!! Damn it! Most probably that's what killed the phone... But whats weird is that even after the superwipe, the phone was on. It didn't die until i decided to reboot it.... DUMB! DUMB!DUMB!

I feel your pain. Not knowing what killed it is the worst part. I dont know if it was some ticking time bomb from a ROM, Kernel, theme, or if it was just an honest quality control issue that finally reared its ugly head.
The one clue I have is that when I got my phone on day one, long before rooting and all the magic, it did this to me...ON DAY ONE! After freaking out and doing a battery pull, it finally booted after holding down the power button for a minute. This time, however, its done for. If your PC wont recognize it, then its dead. Simple as that.
Id either call tmobile, or call HTC to see if they will fix it. (They will likely reflash it the elite way if its software related). If its hardware failure, then they will replace it.
I hadnt done anything serious to mine. It just stopped all on its own. The tmobile tech guy said its hardware failure for who knows what reason? I know that my phone has been buggy for a long time. Should have done this back when it was working!
Lesson to be learned: Dont put up with stuff that a warranty exchange can fix. Dont wait for a total brick to occur on its own. If you suspect issues, SWAP IT!
Word to your mother yall...

Hello, i belive this is my first post but i been reading up on these forums and find them very helpfull. i did a search on here and google with my issue and found no help. last night i was looking through my contacts and my phone just froze. i waited a min or two and still froze. so i pulled the battery out to shut it off. now the phone is dead...it wont turn on, it wont charge when i plug it in the charger, i also tried pressing the volume and power buttons to do a factory reset with no luck.
if anyone can help, i would really appreciate it.
thank you
BTW: i belive tmobile return time is 14 days...so i cant return it to them since its like day 34...just my luck lol
You should be able to swap it out no matter what, your warranty is still in place. Just bring it to the store and they should either give you another one the same day or order you one man.

Did you press the volume down and the power button(not both volume buttons) until you see the screen with the box and android? Also try pulling battery and leaving it out for at least a minute or two. Have you rooted the phone?Where you on a custom rom? With more information furnished I am sure the talented people on this forum can be of more help.

I would try putting the vol down and power together again (you can press the vol button and then press the power and hold both for at least a minute) to see if you get any response. If not, contact TMo on the phone and you will have a replacement unit in a few days.
Question - when you plug it into the charger, do you see a battery charging screen come up? One unknown is the battery.
You might go to a TMo store and see if they will let you plug the battery from their demo in yours and see if it will respond to the above. If it does, it is your battery (you should also be able to get that under warranty).
If not - it is your phone - then do the above.
If your PC is not recognizing the device when you plug in then you are pretty much screwed... sorry man...
he sd he just tryed doing a factory reset which is vol up n power thats y i asked if he put recovery on there using nvflash cuz if not vol down n power wont work idk man could be a battery dwf weird n do what jhaste sd if it recognizes it ur good if not idk
thanks for your help everyone.
to answer some questions
1. i did not do nv flash
2.when i plug it in the charger i dont get a charging indicator or screen.

androidtotal.com/install-clockworkmod-recovery-lg-g2x-t-mobile-nvflasher
looks like a complete guide. also will make my phone stock again or will it have something else? i guess i should google what clockworkmod is
yea dude im with jhaste on this one i mean that is weird shouldnt have dun that on stock rom thats y 50% of me says its battery but dude if u do hook it up to the computer n u get life ur good then u need to do the nvflash method install recovery n flash a rom theres even an image for the stock rom if u like that one that much. its all in development part of forum. so worst case scenario bro u could do that i think ull be aight n if u do end up takin it back under warranty n u get a ****ty one man that sounds so bad u should always get a good one, but neways if u get one that has bad screen bleed or something quirky call tmobile again u have a yr warranty just dont drop it scratch it or dunk it in water lol n ur warranty should be good n dude dont worry bout screen bleed i have it a lil n i can give two ****s it dont bother me its common with newer lcds i mean if u have it bad n can notice it when doing daily things with ur phone then by all means take it back if that aint the case then dont worry bout it cuz 99% of the time ull get the same result if u take it back
its under development and u wana use the ext4 version its the newest tgagunman has a nice easy guide i myself dont know how to put links up so if someone could

I've been looking at numerous threads on numerous sites for a few hours now and can't find a solution to my problem with the methods already given (most of them say the problem is solved by flashing the new CWM but as I can't even turn the phone on...)
My battery was around 10% when I turned it off to reboot it today but it never came back on from the reboot cycle. I've tried all the methods people have given :
pull the battery and put back in, pull the battery then back in then charge for 20 minutes then pull battery and put back in....etc. The only solution I can think of is stripping a cable and charging the battery manually. I really don't want to do this and damage my battery.
I'm running v1.0 of LeeDroid's ROM with the stock kernel.
Can anyone give me another option? Help me Obi xda Kenobi.
Edit : I should add that I do have the latest CWM as far as I know. Yes the text was orange.
It seems like the easiest way to fix it is this.... and the credit goes to Rsotbiemrptson.
1. If you have another phone like a myTouch 4G, Nexus or similar, take the battery and line it up to the Sensation's contacts (battery doesn't fit so you have to hold it)
2. Hold Volume Down and power on to boot into HBOOT then go to RECOVERY.
3. Go to Mounts and Storage and mount USB storage.
4. Transfer stock TMOUS recovery to sdcard, unmount, and go back to HBOOT so it may detect the PG58IMG.zip file and flash it.
5. Put original Sensation battery in and it will start charging. Just reflash CWM later on.
I have attached the file. This worked great for me and only took less than ten minutes.
I wonder what the hell is causing this? I can just see myself at work, not knowing my pos htc battery is being molested by whatever it is that mysteriously drains it in standby from time to time, and find it is dead and the phone won't boot up.
Sheesh!
Matt
I had exactly the same problem with mine - ended up being replaced under warranty. Bizarre problem.
I just tried this with my girlfriends G2X. The battery isn't able to touch the contacts. Don't have another phone around : /

Try to turn the phone on without the battery, just have the microUSB cable plugged in. I can't test it because I have Body Glove Armor on it and is really hard to take off, but give it a shot. Worked on previous androids. Example(s): Huawei Ascend, Samsung Moment, LG Optimus M.

So it seems you guys are having a microUSB failure, as it sounds. I will tell you why I say this. Because if the phone charges for a few seconds, and just stops, then that is contact failure. Try using different a microUSB cable. Also tell me what Clockwork you have and if you powered off in fast-boot or not.
I've tried 3 or 4 micro USB cables by now. As far as I know I flashed the newest CWM a day or two ago via the app from the market. And no fast-boot IS off.

What??? You flashed via Market. Did you even S-OFF??? The last thing you should do is flash from ROM Manager or whatever you used. Read this post and it will tell you how to flash recovery and stuff when you get this fixed!

But ok. So you have anyway of charging the phone?
Ohh. And I'm not screaming or flaming you.
Not really. I'll just go into the T-Mobile store tomorrow and tell them my battery is ****ed and demand a new one lolz.
And of course I used that post to obtain S-off. Wouldn't have been able to do it without it =P. I originally flashed CWM manually before it had official support but once the dev added the Sensation added I flashed his official one via the ROM Manager app. I even booted into it to install LeeDroid's ROM so it obviously works.

How do I go about doing that again? Is it camera + power or volume down + power?

volume down first then while holding it hold power
pull battery, put it back in, and then hold power + volume until you get a white screen. It could also be your flex cable going bad though.

...as he is quick to point out, and i'll admit as he did indirectly, we've been there before, and that's what it sounds like.
I definitely a few times now have thought my device was broken, but I have a couple of different batteries laying around and swapping out always solves this - the first time this happened to me was before we had S-OFF, and it's never happened on my anker battery ... only the stock ones.
( I haven't been keeping track of if it's the same stock battery or both of the ones I have - it happens so infrequently)
Given how it's caught me by surprise once, I might be willing to blame this particular hiccup on the battery, but again, it happens so infrequently - 3 times for me since the beginning of August, so it's hard to tell for sure.
Whatever it is, despite my hunches of the battery culprit, it's certainly not a function of rooting or anything about that since it happened to me before we had that.
2 of the times it was letting the battery run out while sleeping, the first time it happened I was around 20% left. Turned the screen off, wasn't doing anything with it, got a shower, and when I came back it was like this.
I got pretty frustrated and worried, I didn't want to take it back to the store for a different one, so I plugged it in and went over to a friends house. When I came back it worked fine, so I chalked it up to a dead battery, maybe it wasn't reading the percentage right or something.
Dunno, some thoughts...

Thanks, so much I'll try a alternative battery... might have to buy one from ebay... any suggestions? The Red Trackpad light doesn't turn off at all when I try volume down and power just sits there!? Strange I've tried charging it now with no apparent luck I'm praying it's a battery issue! The orange light flashes a few times now when charging then hits solid green when done?
So lost again any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Not sure then - sounds like you should have gotten enough juice to get past it being what we were talking about.
Doesn't mean it isn't a battery issue, but can't say for sure?
Dunno, i'll be turning it over in my head and if I think of something i'll drop it here.
Any word on this?
I was trying to Juopunutbear S-off my phone last nite, when it took me a little time to get the wire trick rite and now my phone is dead. Only the trackpad light stays on and I don't know if that means its out of juice or its bricked. and since the orange led doesnt turn on; I don't know if its charging or not since it won't turn on at all.
Try unplugging it taking the battery out, put it back in 10 seconds later, and plug in the power again. Hold down the volume button and press the power button, see if you can get to recovery from hboot. If you can, you probably aren't completely screwed.

Thanks anitgandhi for your response. I went thru the procedure and nothing came up on the screen. the screen is still blank. All I see is the red light on the trackpad. I'm not sure if the battery is dead or the phone is bricked!!
This is just a shot in the dark but try plugging it into your computer, see if it recognizes it.
Honestly I'm not too familiar with juopounutbear s-off cuz I have revolutionary, but given the whole wire trick thing, I think bricks can happen easily if you're not extremely careful

Maybe someone with more experience in this type of thing will chime in but I DO know that if your battery goes dead when working at the levels that juopounutbear takes you down to it is very likely you have a brick. The same holds true for flashing most anything except for just the most minor things. You should ALWAYS have at the very LEAST a 50% charge on your phone before you attempt anything other than just using it.
The constant dim red light on the trackpad is NOT a good sign.
When you plug it in, check device manager for qload USB

Thanks guys for your responses. Tried plugging it into the computer, computer doesnt see anything, no qload or anything. I had a full charge on the phone before the wire trick, so a dead battery is just a guess. I didnt learn abt revolutionary until after the brick! lol
I did try this too just in case, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27797058&postcount=18
and there was no response.
Should I find an external charger and try to charge the battery?
If you know someone with a Sensation and if you can borrow their charged battery for a minute you can find out pretty quick.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
cool, will try that! Thanks!

Or the amaze it has the same battery also
I have my shift rooted with s-off and i have cyanogenmod 7 running on it, and just this morning i was browsing on the web and my web browser force closed on me, the basic browser with cyanogenmod 7, and i tried to restart my browser and it force closed again then went into recovery for a second and it won't turn on or go into recovery at all, no matter how long i hold power or power and vol down, however when i plug it in it will show that it is charging, i am unsure as what to do next, I can't bring it to sprint as it is rooted, any help getting it running would be great
EDIT: I put in new batteries and still won't turn on, I am at a loss and I am up for trying anything to help here, I need my phone for work and such and i am having a very bad time with it out of commission..
How long have you been using cm7 without issue? Does it turn on at all now? Do you have another battery you could try?
(I hope someone more experienced than I will join in here.)

i have been using cm7 for about 4 months now with no issues at all, it won't turn on at all, but when i plug it in the charging light will turn on and then i can unplug it and the light will stay on forever..when i push the power button or power and vol down then plug it in the light will not come on at all, and i have no other batteries i could try, if you think it would really help i could get another battery.
Wait to hear from some others on here but it wouldnt hurt to get another battery and a wall charger. They aren't expensive on amazon. That way if theres a hardware problem not letting the battery charge you have another way to do that as well as an extra battery.
Edit: something like this I think; http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004RXIL1G/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1362509262&sr=8-2&pi=SL75

Take out the battery, put it back in (after about an hour) and try to power up into bootloader
I have placed an order for 2 new batteries that should be here tomorrow, i have taken my battery out for about 45 minutes and pout it in and tried to load bootloader and nothing, i am going to work soon so ill leave the battery out while im at work, should be for about 4 hours and try it again tonight, i will update if i get anything
So i just got back from work and put the battery in after 4 hours of being out of my phone and tried to boot it into bootloader and got nothing, so i have to wait until tomorrow for the new batteries, if anyone has any other ideas before i try ti new ones i am up for hearing it
I hope your new batteries fix you up. *fingers crossed*
OKay...got the new batteries, and i charged them up, the charger i got has it so you can charge the battery without being inside the phone, and made sure it was full then tried to put it into my phone and nothing...tried going to bootloader and...nothing i am pretty much out of ideas so if anyone can help with this ill try anything
I've decided that if i can't get this fixed I'm just going to cancel my contract with sprint, only have 5 months left, and go with a new phone, I've had several problems with my shift since i got it and it is time for a new phone...
I'm sorry the battery didn't help! I don't know what else to try. I hope it wasnt too expensive.

Did you already cancel your contract as I read you were going to ? Hopefully not yet. I've had this happen before. It's when the Battery Charge goes down to nothing while using the device. I had to keep trying different Batteries till one worked. Turned out I had to use a Genuine HTC Battery. I charged it to full capacity out of the device first. Then had to do multiple tries to get it to Boot up. I'm still not sure why I did what it did. Have a few speculations. But nothing definite. I would definitely keep trying. I had to try the process for about an hour till it booted. Also try booting it while plugged in to the PC.
Have you tried flashing a sense rom or ruu to 2.2 to see if it still happens? And if it doesn't turn on...take it to sprint...what do you have to lose?

so what I ended up doing is telling sprint I lost it and payed a hundred for them to replace it, prboy the changing batteries with genuine htc ones is a good idea and I hadnt thought of that, its a bit late now, but oh well, we grow and learn..either way I have 2 extra batteries, a sweet charger, and i guess another sd card with the new one, so thanks everyone for trying to help me out.
EDIT: prboy, I will try what you suggested with the new battery in the new phone i am getting tomorrow, if it works I may have a spare phone so...anyone want it? or i may add it as a second line for my woman..

Your welcome . Sorry we couldn't get you sorted in short order. When you do get the other device working, you could start dabbling a bit more into Android. It's nice to have a spare device to test, and Dev with. That way your not so concerned because it's not your main device.

good point, but i think my woman wants it more, I don't think she minds that its rooted either, I may not root my second device, the one i will be using, just because i have to give it back in a few months, and i have to worst luck sometimes, and my phone has had several reasons i had to bring it in, like my ribbon cables wore away, 3 times, so i had to replace it then, and a few other small things..
Well i was in the middle of typing towards my mom on whatsapp and my screen turned off and no response at all from the phone.
Holding power button nor plugging in the device gives any sign of life.
The battery was still well over half full and i have never had issues with batterylife before.
So did my One S really just die on me?! How could this had happened?!
I never did any OC or changed kernels, only used Venom (for Sense 4+) and Trickdroid (for Sense 5) roms..

Tried connecting the phone to PC?
For how long do you hold power button? Try 15/20/30 seconds.

1. Yep did, nothing happens. At least, not in the past ~30min..
2. I have tried holding it down for 5min already, but i really think it died on me.. If only i could pull the damn battery...
Just to be 100% sure it's off hold the power button for around 10 sec even if lights don't flash... Then leave it on charge for 24hr or so u may not get the charging light straight away; once it's charged see if u can access bootloader

Maybe you can try changing USB cables and try charging it for a while with PC. It's worked for some guys.
Otherwise, it's time for a warranty claim.

Yeah doing that now, this worked before when the battery was fully drained on other phones. But since my battery wasn't even half way empty, i doubt it's the same problem.

Yeah already wrote to Elevate, got the phone from them not even 6 months ago..
Really surprises me how this phone has nothing but issues, while my old Sensation is still alive and kicking without a single issue :|
Donno what i did, but i picked up the phone, smashed it a couple of times in the palm of my hand out of anger and it turned on with still 56% battery, so it wasn't that.
I'm just glad it started working again, but **** knows what happened there, surely wasn't fun :|

lol, I believe that is called a "technical tap" Well now you know that it is a hardware problem. (and will most likely happen again)
Well i leave my mail with Elevate and see what they can do for me.
I don't wanna move away from the One S yet tho
