I've been looking at numerous threads on numerous sites for a few hours now and can't find a solution to my problem with the methods already given (most of them say the problem is solved by flashing the new CWM but as I can't even turn the phone on...)
My battery was around 10% when I turned it off to reboot it today but it never came back on from the reboot cycle. I've tried all the methods people have given :
pull the battery and put back in, pull the battery then back in then charge for 20 minutes then pull battery and put back in....etc. The only solution I can think of is stripping a cable and charging the battery manually. I really don't want to do this and damage my battery.
I'm running v1.0 of LeeDroid's ROM with the stock kernel.
Can anyone give me another option? Help me Obi xda Kenobi.
Edit : I should add that I do have the latest CWM as far as I know. Yes the text was orange.
It seems like the easiest way to fix it is this.... and the credit goes to Rsotbiemrptson.
1. If you have another phone like a myTouch 4G, Nexus or similar, take the battery and line it up to the Sensation's contacts (battery doesn't fit so you have to hold it)
2. Hold Volume Down and power on to boot into HBOOT then go to RECOVERY.
3. Go to Mounts and Storage and mount USB storage.
4. Transfer stock TMOUS recovery to sdcard, unmount, and go back to HBOOT so it may detect the PG58IMG.zip file and flash it.
5. Put original Sensation battery in and it will start charging. Just reflash CWM later on.
I have attached the file. This worked great for me and only took less than ten minutes.
I wonder what the hell is causing this? I can just see myself at work, not knowing my pos htc battery is being molested by whatever it is that mysteriously drains it in standby from time to time, and find it is dead and the phone won't boot up.
Sheesh!
Matt
I had exactly the same problem with mine - ended up being replaced under warranty. Bizarre problem.
I just tried this with my girlfriends G2X. The battery isn't able to touch the contacts. Don't have another phone around : /

Try to turn the phone on without the battery, just have the microUSB cable plugged in. I can't test it because I have Body Glove Armor on it and is really hard to take off, but give it a shot. Worked on previous androids. Example(s): Huawei Ascend, Samsung Moment, LG Optimus M.

Which recovery do you have currently?
It'll blink once, twice, three times. Then hold orange for a few seconds then blink once, twice, three times and then no more LED

So it seems you guys are having a microUSB failure, as it sounds. I will tell you why I say this. Because if the phone charges for a few seconds, and just stops, then that is contact failure. Try using different a microUSB cable. Also tell me what Clockwork you have and if you powered off in fast-boot or not.
I've tried 3 or 4 micro USB cables by now. As far as I know I flashed the newest CWM a day or two ago via the app from the market. And no fast-boot IS off.

What??? You flashed via Market. Did you even S-OFF??? The last thing you should do is flash from ROM Manager or whatever you used. Read this post and it will tell you how to flash recovery and stuff when you get this fixed!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
But ok. So you have anyway of charging the phone?
Ohh. And I'm not screaming or flaming you.
Not really. I'll just go into the T-Mobile store tomorrow and tell them my battery is ****ed and demand a new one lolz.
And of course I used that post to obtain S-off. Wouldn't have been able to do it without it =P. I originally flashed CWM manually before it had official support but once the dev added the Sensation added I flashed his official one via the ROM Manager app. I even booted into it to install LeeDroid's ROM so it obviously works.

Hello, i belive this is my first post but i been reading up on these forums and find them very helpfull. i did a search on here and google with my issue and found no help. last night i was looking through my contacts and my phone just froze. i waited a min or two and still froze. so i pulled the battery out to shut it off. now the phone is dead...it wont turn on, it wont charge when i plug it in the charger, i also tried pressing the volume and power buttons to do a factory reset with no luck.
if anyone can help, i would really appreciate it.
thank you
BTW: i belive tmobile return time is 14 days...so i cant return it to them since its like day 34...just my luck lol
You should be able to swap it out no matter what, your warranty is still in place. Just bring it to the store and they should either give you another one the same day or order you one man.

Did you press the volume down and the power button(not both volume buttons) until you see the screen with the box and android? Also try pulling battery and leaving it out for at least a minute or two. Have you rooted the phone?Where you on a custom rom? With more information furnished I am sure the talented people on this forum can be of more help.

I would try putting the vol down and power together again (you can press the vol button and then press the power and hold both for at least a minute) to see if you get any response. If not, contact TMo on the phone and you will have a replacement unit in a few days.
Question - when you plug it into the charger, do you see a battery charging screen come up? One unknown is the battery.
You might go to a TMo store and see if they will let you plug the battery from their demo in yours and see if it will respond to the above. If it does, it is your battery (you should also be able to get that under warranty).
If not - it is your phone - then do the above.
If your PC is not recognizing the device when you plug in then you are pretty much screwed... sorry man...
he sd he just tryed doing a factory reset which is vol up n power thats y i asked if he put recovery on there using nvflash cuz if not vol down n power wont work idk man could be a battery dwf weird n do what jhaste sd if it recognizes it ur good if not idk
thanks for your help everyone.

1. i did not do nv flash
2.when i plug it in the charger i dont get a charging indicator or screen.

looks like a complete guide. also will make my phone stock again or will it have something else? i guess i should google what clockworkmod is
yea dude im with jhaste on this one i mean that is weird shouldnt have dun that on stock rom thats y 50% of me says its battery but dude if u do hook it up to the computer n u get life ur good then u need to do the nvflash method install recovery n flash a rom theres even an image for the stock rom if u like that one that much. its all in development part of forum. so worst case scenario bro u could do that i think ull be aight n if u do end up takin it back under warranty n u get a ****ty one man that sounds so bad u should always get a good one, but neways if u get one that has bad screen bleed or something quirky call tmobile again u have a yr warranty just dont drop it scratch it or dunk it in water lol n ur warranty should be good n dude dont worry bout screen bleed i have it a lil n i can give two ****s it dont bother me its common with newer lcds i mean if u have it bad n can notice it when doing daily things with ur phone then by all means take it back if that aint the case then dont worry bout it cuz 99% of the time ull get the same result if u take it back
its under development and u wana use the ext4 version its the newest tgagunman has a nice easy guide i myself dont know how to put links up so if someone could

Hey guys, i've done the search button and still can't find any answers. First of all, all i've done to my phone : S-off, superuser, root. No custom ROM installed. i did that 2days prior yesterday and it was working and charging fine. So yesterday when i was playing paradise island my phone died. I connected it to the USB wall charger and left my room. After 3-4hrs, my phone is still dead. So i thought maybe the USB or wall charger is not working. I tried using my cousin Mytouch wall charger with the htc USB, still doesnt work but using my wallcharger with the mytouch usb, my cousin's phone charges.
When i try to charge my phone, the amber light comes on but its flashing, then after 3 times, light will stop
Troubleshooting i've done
I've tried numerous times to go to HBOOT, nothing
Removed the battery several times, nothing
tried USB charging through my laptop nothing.
Any help guys??
Same issue!
Please help with this!!
CMW
If you search you'll find that there is a problem and after installing CMW Recovery most phones will not charge if they're off, so if you let your battery drain to the last you will be unable to charge your battery trought the phone, no solution at this moment for this
Work arounds
- Charge your battery on a wall charger directly not trought the phone
- Charge your battery on an stock untouched Sensation

Wallcharger, is there one i can purchase??
Is the battery itself the problem?? because t-mobile, will sent me a new battery. I've only had this phone for 3 weeks. IF the battery itself not the problem, they will send me a new phone but i'm assuming that i've going to have to send the old phone back, is there going to be an issue regarding the warranty when i send the old phone to them???
it's not the battery, it's the cmw what's the problem. You have an older version of cmw.
I see, where to get the latest CWM? There's a way to go back to stock right?
Now i kinda regret S-OFF,ROOt, CWM ...lol..-.- i know it's my fault tho...
Once you managed to boot the phone again, you can install rom manager, from there you can easily install the latest cmw.
i have the latest CMW Still doesn't charge when battery at 0%
You would think they would test CMW before releasing....

I used CWM 4.0.1.4. From what i know its suppose to fix the charging problem. As of right now, im trying to manually charge my battery by splitting on of my old USB cable +wall charger. So hopefully this will work.
None of the threads in the entire forum are even remotely helpful if you can't even get the phone to turn on.
I can't reflash the recovery - if there is no way for me to get into the bootloader.
A wall charger hasn't helped - nor my N1 battery taped in.
NOTHING.
Please stop jumping a million steps ahead to reflashing the recovery - start with HOW TO TURN THE PHONE ON - bearing in mind that NOTHING IN THE FORUM so far has worked.

I've been using my brothers G2 battery (which doesn't fit) to turn on my phone.
But since I don't have a universal charger, and my phone wont turn on (I tried EVERYTHING) than there is no point to attempt to get into recovery unless I'm going back to stock.
Tl;DR CWM Needs to fix there shhhhhheeeet.

Any suggestion
If u need to start you fone....get a spare usb cable...and split it..remove the battery from your fone. Now tape the red wire to positive and black to negative....attach the usb to ur wall charger.....then wait 10- 20 min. Now remove ur battery then insert it back to you phone and turn it on. Once it starts, connect it to ur htc usb+ wallcharger.... once again, someone said its dangerous....so make this your last resort

Yeah. That didn't work for me. After splitting two cables - I decided to cut my losses.
Unfortunately I'm not in the US - and that's where I bought the phone. I'm going to try and find and independent vendor and see if they have a battery I can buy.
If not - I am ROYALLY screwed.

There's no rooted sticker inside your phone so they won't know unless you tell them, plus the average working stiff at a tmobile store doesn't give a damn what you do to your phone and wouldn't notice that it's rooted in the first place, even if they did care. Ask for a new battery and install it yourself. It IS your device. Don't worry about it dawg, ARHD's start up screen is a Generic White with green text HTC one, AND I have done this myself, when the problem was new, after wire stripping didn't work for me.
Good luck
Hi y'all,
My 3 days old sensation doesn't power up. It's S-Off, rooted and I've been testing different roms on it until I got to the revolution HD. I followed all the steps, Super swiped, flashed it, but the first time I rebooted it didn't power back on; I tried "power+Volume down" and no results.... I've tried removing the battery for an hour or so and trying and it still didn't work.. Kind of pissed cuz I paid the full non subsidized price for it ($530).
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

Hey so sorry to hear what happened... I can imagine the pain going through..
Can you give some more details?
1. Does it vibrate when you press potter button?
2. Does it show any charging light when you plug in power?
3. try charging for one hour or replace battery with another sensation set as sometimes battery can be culprit
I always try to prevent running that super wipe script since that pays with your partitions...

Hi All,
1- No, it doesn't do anything. no vibration, no light. It like the battery's been completely drained.
2- Also nothing happens when I try charging it (I only tried charging thru the PC though)
3- I ordered a new battery, so hopefully that would fix it. Whats weird is that when I started the installation process the battery was more than half full.
First of a you need to try and charge from mains, does your pc make any noise or do anything at all when you pop it in?

Sorry to tell you but...Its bricked. Mine just did this last night.
It was charging...Once done, I took it off the charger and set it down. I came back to it later to use it and it was completely dead. No response.
I connected it via usb to my laptop to try the ADB reboot and was told by my computer the DREADED "cannot install drivers". That was the last action that happened.
Tmobile is sending me a new one. Have to go till monday with an old flip phone.
Call Tmobile. They called it hardware failure.

Holy Crap!!! I just realized what I've done. While browsing my downloads on my PC I found two superwipe zip files: One for the sensation and one for the EeePad... I might have used the Eeepad zip file!!! Damn it! Most probably that's what killed the phone... But whats weird is that even after the superwipe, the phone was on. It didn't die until i decided to reboot it....

I feel your pain. Not knowing what killed it is the worst part. I dont know if it was some ticking time bomb from a ROM, Kernel, theme, or if it was just an honest quality control issue that finally reared its ugly head.
The one clue I have is that when I got my phone on day one, long before rooting and all the magic, it did this to me...ON DAY ONE! After freaking out and doing a battery pull, it finally booted after holding down the power button for a minute. This time, however, its done for. If your PC wont recognize it, then its dead. Simple as that.
Id either call tmobile, or call HTC to see if they will fix it. (They will likely reflash it the elite way if its software related). If its hardware failure, then they will replace it.
I hadnt done anything serious to mine. It just stopped all on its own. The tmobile tech guy said its hardware failure for who knows what reason? I know that my phone has been buggy for a long time. Should have done this back when it was working!
Lesson to be learned: Dont put up with stuff that a warranty exchange can fix. Dont wait for a total brick to occur on its own. If you suspect issues, SWAP IT!
Word to your mother yall...

Well I think I finally bricked my Nexus S. What's weird is that it's been working fine. Had JellyBro 20120817 installed for the past few days with no issues. Last night I plugged my phone in to charge and went to bed. Woke up this morning and clicked the power on button to see what time it is and it showed just fine. 20 minutes later I went to check the time again and NOTHING. Pulled battery, tried every button combo, everything. My wife has a Nexus S also, so I tried her battery with the same results. No lights, vibrations, nothing. Plugged it into my computer to see if I could get any response and still nada. Tried Fastboot and device is not found. UGH. If anyone can give me any advice on what to try feel free to chime in. I've been around long enuff to realize that I'm pretty sure it's toast. Either way... it's been a nice run.

Take it off charge and pull the battery out. Let it sit for a while (1 hour at least) without the battery. Put your wife known working battery in and cross your fingers.

This is paranormal stuff, you have no recollection of having messed around with it flash-wise?

I don't imagine it shows as charging when plugged in? Otherwise I'd send it for repair or just buy a new phone. :/

No it doesn't show as charging at all. Won't find device in adb, no lights, no vibration when trying to power on, nothing. It does get warm when the battery is in it tho. And it is discharging somehow, because I tried my battery in my wifes phone and it showed 33 % when I know it had a full charge before it died. GNex is on its way.
i just have had same problem days ago , unfortunately i tried all , even Odin , just non-responsive
i also tried that unbrickable tool run under Ubuntu , still no good ...
i just send it to repair... Gosh

Same Problem here. It was working fine on jelly bean and rooted with clock work recovery. I removed the battery out to change the sim and now it wont power on, fastboot doesn't work and the USB JIG also doesn't work, doesn't show the charging animated when plugged in.
i tried AdamOutlers Resurector tool, it didnt detect the phone, so i made the hardware mod and now it detect the phone, but still dead after the tool loads the files. but when i choose GALAXY S from the drop down menu, the tool and the phone, both shows download mode, heimdall detect the phone but doesnt work as it is not a GALAXY S.
At least now you have a reason to upgrade. But that sure sucks, if you still want to revive it you could give this a shot... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecp8jKmm48k
Three people with Nexus S's with Jelly Been roms just spontaneously get bricked phones? Just flashed mine to CM10 Nightly yesterday...
Hmmmm
I'm not sure if I would call mine a true bricking since most bricks happen directly from a rom flash. Mine was actually working fine for a couple of days after my last flash and then suddenly stopped working. It was an almost 2 year old phone and heavily abused internally with almost daily rom/kernel flashes and overclocking. I think maybe it just got tired LOL. Oh well...we have 2 other Nexus S's in our house, so now we have a decent parts phone since externally the phone is flawless.
Try cleaning your the phone's usb slot with a toothbrush and medical alcohol. also after removing your battery, try pressing the power button for 10 Secs(without battery) this cleans any extra charges in your phone. Gd luck!
Sounds more like hardware failure than bricking.

i read something that is problme of bootloader that messes with hummingbird CPU or something , i don't know
i had flashed the latest bootloader and 4.1 once it came out , but then i back to 4.0.4 and decided wait for AOKP JB.
and , my phone was also unable to power up after i pull out and change a new battery ! , first of all i was thinking battery's unstable output current damaged hardware or something , but now i am more convinced it should be the problem of bootloader as i read before
