[Q] At&t HOX stuck in boot loop after trying to flash viperx using Flash Image GUI - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

[Q] At&t HOX stuck in boot loop after trying to flash viperx using Flash Image GUI
First off thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to help. Here is my situation:
I successfully rooted my phone and are using TWRP as a recovery. I created two backups, one before rooting and one after. I then tried to flash viperx using Flash Image GUI from the playstore. I did this by copying the viperx zip file to my virtual sd card and then used Flash Image GUI to locate the zip file and then flash. Now my HTC ONE X is stuck in a boot loop. I tried doing a recovery on both backups I created and none of them are fixing the issue. I tried wiping the cache, system, and Dalvik cache. I'm not sure if I missed any important/necessary steps when trying to flash the rom. Can anyone PLEASE HELP me? Any help would be great and again thank you in advance.

Try flashing the boot.img from fastboot using these commands: fastboot flash boot boot.img. Then reinstall the rom.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Moving on from what imagio said download the file in the link which I posted.... Put the boot image in that folder... Boot your phone into bootloader scroll down and select fastboot and now open a command prompt with in the fastbootbadb folder on your comp and type to command he told you

Do you mean Viper XL? ViperX is the ROM for the quad core tegra3 version of the One X. Post a link of what you flashed.
For ViperXL its not necessary to flash boot.img using fastboot or Flash Image GUI. It will flash boot.img in AROMA.

you did actually flash the rom in twrp right? from what you said all you did was flash the boot.img using flashimagegui thinking that flashes the rom.
like redpoint73 said, you did download viperxl right?

problem solved
Hey thanks guys for your replys but I went ahead and installed the factory Rom and rerooted. I tried flashing viperx again following a YouTube video and got stuck in a boot loop again. Had to reinstall factory Rom again. I think I'll just try another Rom. But again thanks for replying. Have a great year.

HTC One S villec2 please help!!!

Guys I flashed the trickdroid 3.0.0 rom on my phone using twrp and also flashed the boot.img using the boot flash script. But now my phone is stuck at the htc boot screen and won't boot. PLease help.
Is flashing the tweak package necessary in order for it to boot?
I haven't copied to the tweak package zip to my sd card , how can i copy it now that the system is not booting???
Please help someone please!!:crying:
You should flash the tweaks package after it boots. Did you flash the boot.img in recovery or fastboot? You need to flash it in fastboot.

Yes I flashed the boot.img in fastboot using the boot flash script provided by torxx, but it is still stuck on the htc one boot screen. I have latest TWRP installed and the base was HTC 4.0.3 rom...
I flashed the tweak package for trickdroid 3.0.0 as well after flashing the boot.img via fastboot, but still not working...Is it necessary to have adb and fastboot installed for the boot flash script to work?? When I saw the cmd box, it proceeded without problems and the img was flashed succesfully, so now I dont know what the problem is...
Get an adb folder (you don't need the whole SDK). You need the HTC drivers. Try flashing it manually

[Q] Custom Rom don't work

Unlocked and rooted ATT HTC One X and flashed pa_evita-2.54-09NOV2012-210217 ROM.
Boot up as far as an Android character with the lettering Paranoid Android 2.+ and then freezes there.
Any suggestions?? If nothing else, how do I get back to stock ROM?

1. What recovery are you using?
2. Did you wipe cache/dalvik-cache, factory reset?
In order to get back to a stock ROM, you will need to boot into recovery, then mount your usb storage. Put the rom on your sd card and then unmount. To be safe, wipe the cache and dalvic cache, then flash the stock rom.
What hboot are you on?
You may have flash boot.img first if you are on hboot 1.14
I think he just didn't full wipe
That's just wrong!

I'm having the same issue. I'm trying to flash this same rom on a device rooted on 2.20. I think my issue has something to do with flashing the boot.img. I have tried to flash using hasoon's toolkit, which doesnt seem to work, i have extracted the zip and placed the boot.img in the kernel folder, and when the command prompt tries to flash it, it says error. I have also tried flashing the kernel from the phone directly using the flash flash image gui app, and it says flash is successful, but when it prompts to boot into recovery, the command doesnt work from my phone so i have to boot into recovery manually.
can anyone give a solid link or tutorial on how to successfully flash the boot img onto my device, every link I have read uses windows cmd prompt, which when i try to replicate, it never works.. So, for now I flashed back to viper rom, since it has its own installer. It would be so nice if all these other roms were able to install like that.
thanks in advance for the help

I do have a solution! Download Flash Image GUI from the market (it's $1.99) and it will do the process for you, no commands needed! The app is also available via XDA for free, do a search and download it.

[Q] Flashed new kernel, won't boot

I used Hasoon2000's HTC All-In-One Kit to root my phone. That all worked.
The issue came when i flashed a new kernel. I placed the boot.img from King Kang's new ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959099)
Anyway, When i boot I get the HTC, quietly brilliant logo, and this in red letters "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distrubute... "
i can boot into recovery (pwr+ vol down)
And i get the ***TAMPERED*** AND ***unlocked*** tags at the top
I don't know where to go from here...
Thanks for the help.
Also, whenever i boot into recovery or factory reset, neither succeed.
This was probably known info, just wanted to add it.

You mentioned in your original post that you could boot into recovery, so is that not working now? Factory reset might've fubared the recovery piece, so you could do one of two things:
1) download the original RUU version for your phone, relock your phone, and flash the RUU and start over.
2) try reinstalling TWRP.
This whole thing sounds like trying to install a kernel or fastboot flash a boot.img without SuperSU correctly installed. This is what happened to me when I first unlocked my phone and tried to fastboot flash the CM10 boot.img after failing the flash from recovery twice. Without that super-user permission, bad things tend to happen. If you decide to continue on with reinstalling TWRP, make sure SuperSU.zip is flashed successfully from
TWRP, then try your rom/kernel combination again (or even a different combination if you're apprehensive).
BEWARE: sometimes partially flashing these things can corrupt your sd card. I had to reflash the original RUU to fix my phone BEFORE I rerooted and flashed a rom/kernel.
Have you fastbooted a SU to your phone after you rooted and unlocked? I'd imagine you did if you followed the toolkit.. So your on 2.20... Just download cleanrom 5.1 on your computer. Mount sdcard via recovery and drag cleanrom onto phone. Flash entire rom in recovery. I bet it works
Once your on a stable rom, download king kang from your phone. Download flashgui. Open flashgui app, navigate to king kang and let it find the boot img and flash it for you.. Once successful, immediately boot into recovery and flash entire rom through twrp.
Success

Evita download isn't even on that page -_- Are you using an evita htc one xl? If not, wrong forum. If so:
download a rom from this Forum section, if you like AOSP, there's a bunch to choose from in Original android development.
download twrp 2.3.3.1 do not use any version above 2.3.3.1
Check MD5 of your downloads, make sure it matches.
Reboot to bootloadrer
fastboot flash recovery twrp2.3.3.1filename.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Select recovery from bootloader
Mount USB storage
Copy your rom over.
wipe cache, dalvik, system, factory reset
Flash your rom zip file
If you are S-OFF or your hboot < 1.14 reboot you're done.
If your hboot >= 1.14 and S-ON extract the boot.img from the rom you downloaded
reboot to bootloader/fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img (the one you just extracted from the rom)
I wasn't going to help you at first because this EXACT post is created at least once a day and is easily fixed by reading and understanding what you're doing. Hopefully this is a wakeup call that you should not be rooting your phone without knowing at least the basics.

Bootloop Issue

Hi
I have been using MIUI custom ROMs for quite some time.
I am using 4EXT Recovery Touch with SMARTFlash ON and my device is not S-OFF
Yesterday I installed the latest version (full ROM) and these are the steps I followed.
1. clear dalvik+cache
2. format all partitions (except sd card)
3. installed new ROM
4. Reboot
Now it is stuck at the white HTC logo screen and is not moving past that screen.
Then I tried to reinstall the previous version of the ROM which was working on my mobile that dint help either.
Also later I tried to restore my existing backup by clearing the dalvik+cache, formatting all partitions and then restored. This also dint help..still stuck at the htc logo screen.
Can you please help.
Thanks

i think you need to update your 4ext recovery version
also try to flash the boot.img via fastboot command
I am not sure, but for fastboot to work we need to have the USB debugging options working isnt it? Since I flashed the ROM now. I am not sure if fastboot would recognize my phone. As I said I am not sure, I will try it out and let you know. Thanks for the help
