Updated my HTC radar to Windows Phone 7.8 last night.
Unfortunately, I have a small issue, luckily not a show stopper. When I looking at applications in the Market Place and swipe to the 'Related Details' screen I get a MarketPlace error message with code 80070057. Anyone else experiencing this?

Same on HTC HD7, "Related Details" it should be from the update.
Me too with Lg quantum 7.8
I have the same problem with my HTC 7 trophy, accesing the related tab in any application produces error 80070057 (I have UK marketplace)
It didn't happen before the update to 7.8 , any ideas???
Hi guys. The error is fixed on my quantum. I didn't nothing. I think that error is the server side. Check again.
Yes they fix it today the error was from the marketplace.

Still not fixed here (UK marketplace) ....
us marketplace not fixed yet..still getting error for related tab
I managed to fix it last night.... Left the phone with the internet on, for a few minutes and it synchronized and fixed itself..
Issue observed in India as well after WP7.8 upgrade.

Connect the phone to your power for charging, reboot the phone, connect to your wifi (or cellural data), change lockscreen timeout to "never" , open xbox games, tap "refresh" in the menu below and leave it there for 10-15 minutes.....
It should be ok after the 15 minutes, if not, leave it for more time (1-2 hours) , it will eventually connect to the marketplace and fix itself.....
(I fixed both my phones this way!)....

Thanks it worked for me.
Only problem I observed was that for lock screen I didn't had option "never", so I set for maximum option of 5 minutes. I kept phone running with XBox Refresh. After sometime I checked Marketplace and error was gone.
I faced another issue. Marketplace was displaying updates available for few apps. But if I selected update, it was giving error again. That issue also got solved now.
Error 80070057
Same with my HTC HD 7 , middle east

In Settings, Date & Time, make sure you've got "Set Automatically" switched on.
This should keep your phone's clock in sync with Internet Time servers.
If it doesn't work, then there's either a bug, or the time servers can't be contacted for some reason.
But AFAIK there is no other way to sync the time.
Thanks for the response. It is already set that way. perhaps an app will appear in due course.

I very much doubt it! For a start, as I understand it, apps can read the system time on the phone but they do not have the privilege to change it.
I may be wrong on that, but then you've got the fact that WP7 already does time synchronization, even if it doesn't seem to be working for you at the moment.
Looks like I shall just have to correct it manually periodically.
Still like the phone and wp 7 even with a few foibles.
Maybe a Microsoft update can fix it.. does Microsoft even know that their clock is faulty and needs manually fixing?
I don't have such a switch in date and time...
there is just a switch to make the time show 12 or 24 hour...
a selection field for time zone, selection field for time, selection field for date
No automatic update switch.
I have a HTC mozart, and I also noticed a slight delay (if I don't connect to the computer, but if I connect to computer then it seems OK...). BTW shouldn't work this automatic update also through Wlan?!?
Hi i'm on WIFI, dont have have data package. The integrated messenger just signs out from time to time....

Wifi connection drops when the screen locks, and then re-connects when you unlock.
Maybe this could be the issue? Only 3G data connection is able to run under the lockscreen.

Thanks that explains it, i hope they change this.....i understand they are doing this to save battery but my iphone doesnt do that and still has an amazing battery life.
Perhaps windows phone should ONLY drop the wifi connection IF the person has chosen the "battery saver option"....otherwise let it be....
If you put it on the charger WIFI won't drop.
Otherwise I have the same problem as you.

This is correct. Persistent wifi connection was a new feature added to iOS4 :

If it were that simple, I have a feeling MS would have implemented it. Apple only added it last year, and for Android, you need to root your phone to enable persistent wifi, so guess it's more complex; probably a real battery killer?
Hopefully addressed in the future; it is a pretty huge issue!
I have a quick question which is a bit off topic.

How often does it check for new messages? How does the checking for messages work?

It's push, your phone establishes a "permanent" connection to a centralized server. Server receives messages, notifications, alerts, and forwards them to your phone via "permanent" link. At sleep, push turns into fetch.

That's interesting, thanks.
Unsure why WP7 doesn't do this. When I first got the phone and set my email to poll every 15 minutes, I expected the wifi to wake up under the lock screen every 15mins and check for new messages. Or at least do a new poll as soon as I unlock and the wifi wakes up?
Instead when you unlock the phone, it checks email 15 mins later - so you end up having to check your email manually. Quite annoying.

ok, I see. So how does fetch work and what if you walk into an area where you completely lose signal and are using your cellular data connection for msn, then 5 seconds or so later you walk back into a normal fine area with signal. BUT as you lost signal someone sent you a message and/or you sent a message. You obviously won't get it with no signal, will it resend it or something?
Fetch is when your phone retrieves all it can on a regular basis i.e: every 15 minutes. If you walk into a dead spot, your phone'll resume when signal is regained.
Push = permanent link
Fetch = scheduled "grab"

Awesome, exactly what I wanted to know.
Thanks!
its a microsoft OS, they developed the direct push tech & active sync...they've been in market far longer (first with windows mobile - yrs of experience developing that)....than google/apple..........
yet its apple who has nailed it with keeping wifi alive even at screen lock without sacrificing battery life.......

Hello everyone,
Just got a new LG Optimus One.
I'm having trouble connecting to Android Market, I get the following error message.
"A network error has occurred. retry or cancel and return to the previous screen" and some other times it comes up with another error message ""No connection" (text) "Retry" (button)"
I can connect to the internet via the phones built-in web browser so it's not a network issue and the android market works when I'm connected to a WiFi access point.
What do you think I could do to fix this problem.
Kind Regards,
dmk0

Edit: I was right, Market does not work on GPRS. 2G is too slow for Market

I'm off home to my native for the past 3days ..its a small town --no 3G nor wifi here!! n my damn fckin fone is pissing me giving problems exactly as u stated ..everything was five until I was using 3g but now don't know why but connection keeps getting timed out in market ..( I'm able to download from browser)..

Market version 2.3.x (old market) works on 2G/EDGE. New Market (3.0) does not work on 2G/EDGE.
Not sure if I should put this in a new thread or continue it here because my problem got worse.
I decided to do a factory reset of the phone and it ended up making things worse.
Now the inbuilt web browser works but none of the applications worked with the internet connection. I tried android market, gmail and youtube apps and none of them worked. Where as gmail email app worked before.
When I try to enter Username and Password for the gmail account (I wait for a few minutes with the waiting message "Your phone needs to communicate with Google's servers..." Once that's finished thinking I get the following error message "Can't Establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it continues, call Customer Care.".
I'm in 3G mode all the time (with three and sometimes four bars). Sometimes in a mode called "E" which I suppose is Edge and I've been trying all night and haven't had any luck.
I might bite the bullet and call customer care to try and help me but with my previous experience I don't expect they can offer me much help other than returning my phone and asking for a new one. My professional experience with phones tells me there shouldn't be a fault but I cannot put myself to fault. There must be something fishy going on with this phone.
EDIT: (Additional Info) When I try to connect to the Weather I also get the error message "Weather service is temporarily unavailable." Just after I tried the web browser and google loads up fine.
Market 3.4.4 work 2g/edge but when 2g speed is very slow it gives same error i also have this problem but this is not the problem of market it is the problem of speed because sometime 2g speed is very slow i from india in which 2g speed very slow so sometime market give the error.
problem solved!
i had this same problem on my coby kyros tablet. it doesn't have any connection other than wifi, and i could browse the web, but not connect to the market.
after trying a few different things i noticed the time was way off, and went to fix it, then realized that some how the date had been changed to jan, 27th, 2011. i changed the date, time, and time zone, and the market started working perfectly.
DOUBLE CHECK YOU TIME, DATE, AND TIME ZONE!
get your old market back!!!

i had also this problem.....
just try again in MORNING (6:00 AM) ....
really it will work...as congestion is minimum in morning ...
I got the phone from Virgin Mobile with there settings preconfigured. It's VM branded too.
I re-entered APN and mysteriously it worked, sad thing is the APN I entered was exactly the same except I changed two of the characters from lowercase to uppercase.

Hello everybody,
since I am not allowed to post in the official thread for ARHD until i have at least 10 post, i will do it here.
I flashed ARHD 6.51 a while ago and noticed, that my clock is couple of minutes late. So I decided to sync it with the internet. Nothing happened. I rebooted my device and the clock was showing the correct time - at least for a while. After a few hours, the clock was late again. So I set it to the right time manually. I guess you know what happens next... its late again.
So i superwiped my phone and flashed the latest version of ARHD v. 6.6.2.
At first the clock showed the correct time, but after a few hours it was late AGAIN!
I booted into the recovery and noticed that the time in the recovery was correct. I reseted my phone to factory defaults and still no change.
Does anyone of you know how to fix this?
Greetings,
elyts
Happened to me once while I was on college..
I turned of automatic clock sync and set it manually... When I got home (after 7-8 hours), I turned it on again and it was showing correct time.. Dunno what happened but now its ok for me... It was on older version of ARHD... 6.x.x
try downloading ClockSync from Google Play Store, that syncs your clock really accurately using the internet and you can get it to sync automatically bit of a botch but might do it

I already downloaded ClockSync. But that is only a way to bypass this problem and not to solve it. I want to know why the clock is always late. Espacially when WiFi is on. This is a 400 € phone. It should at least be able to show me the correct time.

Hi,
I have the feeling that it is not the phone's fault, hear me out. Your phone does not keep the time, it reads it from your phone provider or wifi if it is connected. My guess is that your phone is reading the wrong time from some of those sources.
And by the way before continuing I would go to Greenwich and check the correct time!
rio
I bookmarked a similar page to check the correct time. So you think my phone doesn't have an internal clock server or something that provides the time if its set manually? I have to correct my last statement. The time is late only when WiFi is enabled.

Of course, the phone has an internal clock, but it rather not use it, while there is internet connection. So setting up your time manually will only work until the phone syncs with the sources from your service provider/internet.
If you want to keep your own "manual" time my guess is you would have to disable a few sync options on your phone, one of them being Settings/Date&time/Automatic date&time.

Automatic date&time is disabled... Everything i know is that if WiFi is enabled the clock will be late after a few hours. I disabled every possible option that could have something to do with wrong sync or something. And the lower my battery gets, the faster my clock gets slow.. Could it have something to do with WiFi and or battery?

It is again caused by app stopped running ,..
when ppl are tend to close all apps even weather gets closed and therefore not getting any location..
Some apps restarts auto some of them not
EDIT :
Guys and make sure u have set always location scanning even when wifi is off..
Yes, It is weird that this option is in wifi settings but make sure it is on
Don't think it is scanning always for wifi that it refreshes every 10 secs. to check avail. access points(routers) .. no it is for mobile data networks..
