Hi guys
Do you feel any difference in charging time using fast charge on DC power (USB) ? I don't. And I do feel it on AC power.
Thanks.

I kinda wanna time how long it takes to charge with it on and off. There's an app called battery calibration that will beep when the battery is fully charged so that would help a bit.

I hate to have to do this but(sorry beast):
The max your USB port from a comp can give you is 500ma.
The max your stock charger gives you is 1a.
The max your phone will accept is 1a.
With that said the only thing that fast charge will make a difference on is using a car charger. Those can provide between 500ma and 2a. Your phone will only utilize 1a though. Unless it's running then it will utilize drain + 1a.
Carry on.
EDIT: So after lengthy arguing/ debating/ point and counter point with Beast.
If you have USB 3.0 you can charge up to 900ma IF YOUR DEVICE IS CONFIGURED. Still looking into this one but Beast has this to say(to me):
well now that we established that u can tell me erik ur code is **** and fast charge isnt working then ull be right lol
but i know it can "in theory"(if my code is rigth) charge faster

I've noticed that the battery charges super fast.
This is either abnormal or it just is one of the good things about the G2X?
I've never had a battery charge up this fast, especially in a smart phone.
From my experience:
The slowest charging battery goes to: Samsung Galaxy phones...
The fastest so far is my G2X...
Interesting....any thoughts?

You mean high current. Not be a douche but current and voltage definitely should not be confused with eachother because one is the amount of energy while the other is just the potential difference
Don't look at a label or sign and shrug it off because the voltage is low, its current that you should watch for, but I digress lol. Sorry for the totally off topic post but its the middle of the night and my mind isn't functioning properly.

Yes you are correct. It also drains more than charging when you use the Mobile Hotspot.
Were you on 4G or WiFi?
I had the same problem in my car streaming bluetooth audio. I got a better charger and it wasn't as bad.
Well that sucks. I wish sammy would have thought that out. Thanks for the help.

It's all about the charger. Ever notice how the low battery warning says to stop using it or it will charge inefficiently? A normal computer USB port puts out 500 milliamps, a Droid X charger puts out 850, and the Charge charger does 1 amp. Basically, the higher the charger amperage, the faster the charge. The Charge charger might not be able to meet the demands of the device while it's under heavy use, which is why I use my Galaxy Tab charger (2A). It works perfectly.
EDIT: tl;dr the ROM does not matter for charging, it's all about the hardware. Use a higher amp charger.
Sent from my Droid Charge running Humble 1.4
Thanks for advice. That is a simple solution
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
I feel like there's something weird going on with me. Using mobile hotspot seems to drain less energy than charging for me with the stock charger, except there's an issue if I let it charge up to 100% while using mobile hotspot. If I let this happen, it seems to stop charging and tricks the battery into thinking that it's still at 100% when it's in fact draining. If I unplug it after some time (when it still think it's at 100%) I'll see the actual battery life percentage as if it stopped charging when it reached 100%.
My temporary solution to this is to unplug when I get to 100% and plug it back in when my battery is low and it'll eventually reach 100% again then repeat (all while mobile hotspot is active). Of course this is not an ideal solution... I sometimes wonder if it has anything to do with the full battery notification/popup because ever since I switched to the Gingerbread leak I haven't been able to disable that. I think if I use a ROM with it already disabled, I can leave my phone plugged in and mobile hotspot won't ever drain to empty. Not sure if I have tested this thoroughly enough though.
I use a 1A charger, but the phone only charges around 250mAh. The phone purposely charges at a lower rate. This has been discussed many times. The software is a deciding factor too.

It is a software limitation. I had the original incredible for a while, one of the big deals with it was charging it in the car while using GPS.
One update they turned on slow charging, but then devices were dieing as they were being charged, so they pushed another update out to reverse it so they would receive a faster charge.
So you are limited by the hardware and what it can handle, as well as the software and how its programmed to handle it...
If its software maybe the devs can adjust this in their roms

How are you charging your infuse?
With the stock cable and wall charger, stock cable and computer, or some other way?
If you are using the stock wall charger maybe the charger is going out. First try charging it another way and that should tell you if it is the wall charger, USB port on the computer, the phone, or even the battery on the phone that might be going out.

even i see that charging on infuse is very very slow... but not as slow as u have reported.. for me it takes like 6-7 hours for full recharge... that i feel is too slow compared to other phones i had... maybe bcos of larger battery... but even then it'll be a pain during travel..

From what I have read the phone charges at 600ma an hour so it should charge in around 3 hours. Maybe you have stuff running in the backgound. Try charging with the phone powered off just as a test and see what happens. I go from zero to 100% in under 4hrs with phone on and under 3hrs with it off. It also depends on HOW you charge it (wall charger, car charger, computer).
As for traveling, you can buy cheap batteries on eBay for $5 or 3 for $10 and some that even come with a free-standing charger. They are so small and light you could almost carry a weeks supply.
Wall charger with phone at idle and stock charge current limit should be 3-4 hours from dead at most.
A phone in operation will take MUCH longer to charge.
So, i am charging it with this very cheap-bought-on-ebay-from-China kinda cable, and attached to it is an adapter of sorts.
see pic.
Thats your problem cheap equipment leads to poor performance

It probably isn't capable of delivering the proper current. I've seen chargers marked as 1A capable that were really only capable of 300-400 mA.

Official HTC chargers seem to work well - they're rated 1A instead of 0.7. The official Samsung charger also seems to be underrated as far as current, I pull 0.8 amps out of it on a regular basis with no problems.

That cable should work - it's more about the charger you plug it into that matters. Anything name-brand rated above 1A that is compliant with the USB Battery Charging specification should work. (Read: iPad/iPhone chargers need modifications or the phone will treat them as USB and limit charge current to 475 mA - but still that should be better than your current situation.)
For cables, I'm 100% happy with Monoprice cables. I have a pile of these in various lengths and they work great:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/subdepartment.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10303#1030307
For charging, get the 28/24 cables with ferrite cores - These have heavy-gauge power wires.
Like it more than halved the time the insufficient HTC wall charger took to charge the phone.

Not sure, but i also have an iPhone, maybe ill try that charger out and see if it really charges faster. I know that the iphone charges ridiculously fast, i guess its because of the charger being 2amp.
The phone dictates the rate at which it charges.
then the charger wouldn't make a difference?

The phone will have the ability to LIMIT the rate it charges but that doesn't mean it can't be better or worse based on how much power you give it. Good to know about the iPhone charger, I have a bunch of those laying around.
Same with the hp touchpad charger. It charges my phone an atleast 30-45 mins faster than the HTC one going from under 10% to full.

Another xda noob
It also depends on the kernel, you could have a script in the kernel to fast_charge
From my powered Shooter.
I use my iPad charger to charge when I need a faster charge. It's also 2A versus the 1A on the old iPhone.
I also have a dual car charger in my car that has an iPad usb port and everything else USB port
I remember hearing somewhere that the hox is limited to 650a anyway

Given that the battery is non-replaceable, I'm inclined to be patient and not risk messing it up, no matter how slow that charger is.
I just tested the tp charger, charged almost an hour faster
