App data in extsd asop. Can I do it? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I have a gameboy emulator. But it stores the data to the SD card. Is there any way for me to get this to save the data in the extsd. As well as other apps? Maybe there's an app that let's me choose what apps save data in the extsd. If not I'll probably look into making one but I'm posting this to make sure it wasn't already done.

[Q]Residual App Data

Is there a way to find and remove any residual app information? Like say I install an app and when I uninstall it, it leaves behind some temp folders, files, ect. I want to clean up my phone a bit and clear up some space.
You could just use astro to find and delete files that might have got left behind.

"Low on space" when very few apps are installed

Hey I'm currently using a HTC HD2 with Android 2.2 and having issues with storage.
I remember when I first received this phone, I downloaded multiple apps/games and there was enough space for all of them. However after few months of use I was hit with the "Low On Space" notification. So I deleted apps that I wasn't using and fewed a few on SD card. A few more months now and I realise I have no games on my phone and every app that I need is on SD card, yet I'm still given the "Low On Space." Could anyone explain what is happening?
I've read a few other posts and googled but I'm so confused in what they mean. Some suggest moving caches and others tell me to try another ROM. Absolutely no clue what they mean :S
Thanks.
First of all, wipe all caches. Do this by downloading any cache cleaner application and using its primary function.
Also, I once got an extra 30mb of space by using root explorer, going into /data/ and looking around for useless files and deleting them

Hey thx for the reply, I downloaded app cache cleaner and cleared about 11mb which is very helpful. Also I use OI file manager and browsed into data, but nothing is there (or perhaps its hidden not sure). Thx for the tip thou
No problem
Another tip is to delete your browser history (if you don't really care about it), for me it takes up a lot of space
Deleting old sms and mms messages, clearing call log help as well.

Link2SD
If you have root, you can moove every app on SD-card. Download Link2SD, create 2nd partition on SD (i have 300MB FAT32) card and enjoy the space. Evenif you change rom, you can link apps what you have on SD

[Q] System App Vs Data App

Hi,
Just out of curiosity ... there are some apps that can be placed in System/app and some that can go in Data/app. I was wondering if I place apps in Data/app, will that take more out of my personal space and thereby leave less space for me to install other apps or will they all go into the space reserved for ROMS?
It may sound confusing, but am sure someone will understand what I mean.
Thanks for any input
It's all inside the internal memory, therefore it does not influence available space. I hope I interpret it correctly lol

Thanks my friend I was thinking the same, but just wanted to be sure!
No problem. You only have two different storages in your phone: internal and external. External is dubbed the sdcard, so anything that is not on there is in the internal.

Ah! ok! Now that logic certainly makes sense
Thanks again.
system/apps are preinstalled with rom. Read-only unless you have root. Deleting system app does not free up space for user apps in data/apps, but could free up ram from not running it in background. Titanium Backup can "freeze" system apps for same effect.
Deleting system app and then reinstalling from play store only takes up data/apps space, which has a predefined size of ~1.05GB. System rom size is ~528MB. Balance of the 16GB flash (~14.2GB) are for non-app storage (virtual sdcard).

Storage space question

I have deleted many unwanted apps off my phone and only have about 30 apps downloaded, and every time a app wants to update i get "insufficient storage space", does anyone else have this problem? And is there a way to fix this?

Hmm....there are several ways of taking care of that problem.
Apps2sd,move apps to SD with titainium back up pro,and so and so on.
I have never had this problem but then again....I don't have a use for so many apps lol.
I have the same issue sometimes. The only thing that works for me is to uninstall the app that has an update and reinstall it.

Yeah titanium pro is the way to go. Move all non-essential apps to sd card and integrate dalvik into rom. That will odex your rom so it will boot faster too.

[Q] What is the best way to extend internal memory on 8Gb P31xx?

I just got my new SGT 2 7.0" and was wondering how to to increase applications/data storage on this unit. I know it has to be rooted. But then I got confused: there are different methods out there that are compatible with only certain ROMs, some sorts of scripts that you have to maintain/change manually and etc.
What I want is to install certain applications (Like Sygic Navigation) on external SD card (32Gb) and use internal memory for regular/small apps. The reason is that that navigation app has huge map files that cannot be stored on internal memory - no room..
Another thing I got confused is the way those scripts work: some of them allow to completely swap internal memory for external, some allow data files to be installed on the external card. Can you guys advise what is the best and easiest way to make this happen? Are there any custom ROM's that already support it? My tablet is not rooted yet and it is Android v 4.1.1 (build P3113UECLK7).
As far as I see it, being a great tablet by design - it has a HUGE functional limitation - low memory capacity - only 8Gb for 7 inch tablet. Or Am I missing something
I juat got one of those too I'd have thought 8Gb is plenty for apps. Just get a decent-sized SD card for your data (music, videos etc), preferably a class 10 card. Good luck.

The problem is that out of 8Gb we have only 4Gb available to use. The rest is already used by the system. And that is very, very limiting:crying:

You can use gl2sd app or the foldermount app, both of which require root.the first one allows you to move some apps to the sdcard and the second allows you to link and move large game/app folders to the sdcard(which is what i do, because the swap scripts do not work past4.1.2). I'm not sure if any of the external/internal swap scripts work on the p3100.

You can get it in the play store too, but with this app you can choose what to put on your card.
