this has already been discussed on other sites, and is actually a clone of iOS, not a port. considering they're different screen sizes, different resolutions, entirely different hardware... this is no doubt a clone or theme designed to look like iOS (though very elaborate and detailed one)
Why would someone do something like this to a poor unsuspecting Android phone
Oh the calamity!
It's either an awesome clone or it's a really well timed video.

actually they are NOT both linux based. Android is Linux based (and I think most of it is released under the apache license except for the kernel which is GPL). iOS is BSD based, both of which are *NIX-like environments, but not the same.
but as stated, there is no source code available to get iOS working on android hardware. considering all the massive technical differences (including something as simple as screen resolution on the HTC Magic which doesn't even have a dedicated GPU I think), it seems at least ridiculously unlikely this is genuine iOS4

Think you mean Unix.
Why even do this? If you want an Iphone4, why not just get one?
This is definitely NOT iOS. The processor architecture, drivers, and other low-level garbage would definitely not work.
The chinese have been making knock off phones AND knock off OS for years. I would think this is just some OS that looks like iOS. If it is real iOS, they must have built some virtual environment to boot it in.
But why? Who wants iOS - i made the switch for a reason.

The folders, search, slider 0.o
I wouldn't mind a dual-boot iOS on my captivate to show off, and enjoy all those high quality games!

The processor architecture shouldn't be an issue right? The iPhone 4 runs on the same processor as our Captivate. They are the same down to how the processor handles and processes code.
I agree with you on drivers. It took forever for them to get android running on my TP2 because of the driver incompatibilities. Some of them had to be rebuilt, but they at least had an idea how to build them... since they had the code to Android.
I wouldn't mind being able to boot into iOS from my Captivate. Why not? More functionality is more power. For instance, we just got Angry Birds recently on Android in a "beta" stage, we could have been running that before if iOS worked. Same with tons of other games and apps.
Would love it if it were true...Mainly because I just want SOME way to run a Netflix app on my phone!!
It's fake. Missing folder animations and alot of other animations. I It's been confirmed as a Chinese Android skin..

Well that is only a mytouch 3g they are using. That phone feels slightly more sluggish than an iphone 3g and iOS 4.0 runs just as bad on a 3g. Not a fast phone at all.
I don't really think this is a skin. There's too much iOS specific things going on. Like the settings menu, the dialer flipping for keypad, all the status bar things being in the right place, ipod controls on the multitasking menu.
This could come in handy. My only complaint about switching from iPhone to Android is there are more well done apps for iPhone. Alot of big companies treat Android like an afterthought, though that is starting to change it seems.

Who cares when we get "official" JB? We'll get it long before HTC gives it to us. And honestly I could care less if we ever get it at all. My phone is quite literally perfect the way it is and will do just fine for me until HTC's quad core S4 phone comes out.

one thing I really dont understand is the reason manufacturers put their own ui on top of android phones. Its not like they are gonna get any extra money from it. It seems like they are just too ignorant to realize that paying software engineers to create Sense UI and making their customers butthurt while using it is a complete waste when all we want is an unobtrusive android experience. I would gladly take a delayed kernel source if that meant that phones shipped with vanilla android.

They do this to help differentiate a saturated market. And believe it or not, I know quite a few people who dig sense, or tw. I myself prefer vanilla. But you have to remember there is a lot of little handy things sense does, like fb integration, that stock vanilla android does not do, and most users couldn't be bothered to play with it and mod it to work. I am just against manufacturer overlays as the next Xda user(the minority), but I'm just trying to enlighten you as to why these overlays exist, mainly to stand out from one another.

Not true at all. It's the opposite. They like adding their own stuff because they think that's what sells. Go look at any "cheap" Android phone. They're actually lucky enough to get stock Android.
I've been wishing they could just make it the customers choice. It can't be hard to make a vanilla rom on top of their Sense or TW. At initial setup let us choose whether or not it installs Sense or whatever.

rquinn I have to believe Google wants the same thing.
Google puts a lot of work into the Stock Android experience. ICS is by a huge margin better from a UI standpoint than any version that has come before it.
Trouble is, unless you're a phone geek, you won't see it.
I can only think of one or two devices besides the Nexus that DON'T skin Android.
I want to try a Huwai device for this reason. I've decided that after I'm done with this device, I'm buying a Pure Google one. If the release of the Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Nexus to the play store is any indication, Google is going into the hardware business full time, and I can't wait to see what they do.
Skins can be great, but they should be an option that you can enable or disable with a button click.
I personally love Sense, but it's what works for you, obviously. HTC's Mail app has the best Exchange support I've ever seen in Android. Granted I've never used Samsung's mail client, so maybe it's comparable, but everything else is either really flaky, incomplete, or ugly. I actually wish they would bring back the My Shelf application that was on a few phones (like the DHD.) Of all the eReaders I've tried, it's been my favourite. I also haven't seen any calendar app/widget combination that has, IMO, come close to the HTC one in terms of fluidity and completeness.
But, on the topic of Jellybean: As someone else mentioned, I'm in no rush. This phone's damn near perfect. It's almost always buttery smooth, so I don't think Project Butter will improve it a whole lot. Google Now and the improved notifications would be nice though, I guess.

All depends on what your preference is. If you love an open ecosystem on your phone, love flashing ROMs and basically have complete control over your phone, go android. If you want to have a boring interface (prolly always will be cuz they havent changed $&@t since it first came out) and a locked down ecosystem where apple dictates what you do with your phone, go iphone. I know im really biased towards the android. Ive played with both and definitely love android more. Though you might just wanna wait for the iphone 5 to actually come out or atleast wait for some official specs then decide for sure. Either way ull def be happy.
IPhone if you want a closed and restricted device that let's you do NOTHING to the phone that you want. Besides being able to set a photo as a wallpaper and lock screen wallpaper.
You get to do MUCH more with JB than what iPhone's OS offers. Don't buy it because of it's apple brand and popularity. If you have Android, you'll DEFINITELY lose your features.

Well considering we don't really know much about the iPhone 5 other than iOS 6 and also considering a JB Android phone hasn't been mass-produced yet... I'd say it's a little early to say one way or another unless you just want to start a Apple-Android flamewar
I think both Apple and Google will have great phones running on their respective platforms though. It'd be cool to see what happens and what is released
JB I think ,more device for choosing. 4S is the 5th iPhone (iPhone, iPhone 3G,3GS,4,4S)....Maybe the new one will named iPhone 6 or iPhone LTE?

I'd always choose an Android device, since you can customize it to the very end. Actually the thread title should be iPhone 5 vs Galaxy Nexus, because it's the first Android device to have jelly bean. Considering updates over hardware the Galaxy Nexus is the phone you want, for hardware I'd say Galaxy S3.

I think the main issue of android it improve the virtual machine that is using because as all know IO5 runs directly on hardware. With the same hardware I would say that iphone will always be more smoother and with no lags.
I hope with 4.1 google solves that issues.

Suggest a way to distinguish them?
Why will you buy the same product if it's already available in market? You won't. So it's very necessary to add personalized touch for each manufacturer.
Think of coca-cola and Pepsi. Same basic ingredient but still different?

Before ICS "vanilla" Android wasn't very good.
The reason is differentiation. If two phones have exact same hardware, what would make you prefer one over the other is the skin. At least the ordinary customer.
Sent from my U8150 using XDA
ordinary people would just look at the design of the phone rather than the specs.
TeeJay might be right that before ics android was not so good.
my first experience with an android phone is with gingerbread and htc sense on top of that.
dont know what it was like before that.
but after playing with a nexus s i already made up my mind.
my next device will be a nexus.
its called differentiation and it's useful to distinguish them from the others. hehe

because porting is not that easy..
i m nt a developer bt porting any os would first requiring unlocking the bootloader which i guess is not possible wid iphone5.
ios is beautiful why wanna change that??
Because average iPhone users can't care less. As Apple will say, it just works, well good enough for most people not to care.
Apple = simplicity / terrible for development
Android = more complicated / developer-friendly
I use my iPad mainly for surfing the web, since you can't really do much with that thing, even if you are jailbroken.
Locked bootloaders prevent ANY type of porting. The most I can do for a different look is to install Dreamboard themes.
Android on the other hand is perfect for making small tweaks and installing new / pre-alpha apps.
Or you can choose not to mess around too much.
In short, Android on iPhone = next to impossible.
Still, if you dare http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Android-Into-an-iPhone,
Only for older devices though, and judging from your response, I don't think you are up to the job. Just saying...
Not possible also......
It would be too complicated for Apple users.
iphone 5 isnt nowhere near build quality as android phones,..and it just started using 4'' screens last year. by the time they get 4.5'' screens, samsung will have flexible display or curved glass device out, and apple phones are boring and useless..notice i didnt mention anything about android screen size, because i dont see a future of big-ass-phone trend continuing in the mainstream market..

I stay on iphone because i can't find a beautiful adroid smartphone .. they all suck with BIG porthole on the back , i hate that !
They can't make simple phone that's why i love apple stuff ..
Because its far too difficult to do and rather pointless as now a days there is far superior and more beautiful hardware that runs android natively. Yes that is subjunctive but I can't stand most everything about apple and don't see the iPhone 5 as anything more than a copy of the last few models, its old and boring.
If there were bad hardware only for droids than maybe someone would care enough to spend the countless hours it would take to do this, but I can't imagine anyone who would have the talent, the time, and the reason to do this
