Slim Bean for Sensation - HTC Sensation

Hi all,
I wondering if its particularly hard to port Slim Bean to Sensation? http://slimroms.net/
I have read some guides on how to port though it appears that there are generally issues with wifi/notification light etc..
Can someone advise if this would be easy or not? SlimBean is only on 4.2.1 so i was looking at combining it with SuperXE or something similar.
Your thoughts and or advise would be greatly appreciated.

no love for sage.

I'm not sure but all I know is that you can't "port" slim bean, you have to compile it yourself.

Well thats useful information at least now i wont waste my time trying I was thinking i would be able to port it as it is supported on the Galaxy S 2 (similiar hardware) and the HTC One X.
Thanks

i'm sure there's a lot of ports (or claimed to be) in different devices so i think it's possible to do it on sensation

[Q] Nexus One stock ROM port please?

Hello fellow Desire S owners and enthusiasts. I would like to see this happen, I love stock Android and I have been trying for several days to port Nexus ONE ROM 2.3.3 to our device but I didn't have success. So I'm hoping somebody here with more skill and knowledge may do this. I don't really like what HTC is doing to the devices the Sense skinning is only eye-candy and I don't like it one bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
if you replace the launcher and install the stock apps then youre halfway there, out of interest why did you buy the desire s?
Because I like it's design mostly, I came to it from a Desire HD that one got bricked but it also had Cyanogenmod ROM available and that was very nice. I love the device itself I also had the normal Desire but the battery life was very poor on that one. Anyway, I'll keep trying to get this done.

[Q] ice cream sandwich on Desire

Hi,
I wanted to ask if there is pontential possibility to run ICS on HTC Desire. I know that its processor is not so strong e.g. comparing to Nexus S which will get ICS. So, do you think there will be ROMs with ICS for HTC Desire which will run smooth?

Should be doable theres already a port for the nexus one so as long as a dev ports it over, since I doubt there will be an official release, there shouldn't be any reason it can't run on the desire but it might be laggy and be missing some features.
I'm pretty sure such a port will come, it is only a matter of time .
Patience...
No doubt there will be Cyanogenmod support, and i personally feel it has the potential to run better than Gingerbread.

Port a CyanogenMod

Hey guys,
I didn't really know where to put that so I decided that here is a good place for that.
So basically I have the One S but not the one with the Snapdragon S4 processor. Mine has a Snapdragon S3. And I'm not the only one with that. But the bad thing about it is that there is only one or two custom ROMs availible (all Sense based). So now I want to get involved and try to port CyanogenMod to the device. But I don't have any experience in Android developing. Are there any tutorials that tell specifically how to port a ROM to another device without having a CM/AOSP base? What programming languages do I have to know? What do I have to have?
I already thougt that the best way to port ROMs is to take the ones from the Sensation and just port them (the Sensation is pretty similar to the One S villec2). But I don't really know what to do and how to do that.
I'm willing to learn and I know that this process could take a long time (maybe moths, idk?).
Thanks in advance.
Hmm.Maybe if you ask on Cyanogenmod forums it will be better
AW: Port a CyanogenMod
Asked there but didn't get any help so far. I hope I can get help in any forum. Is developing for Android such a closed thing? Do you have to be in this thing since the start of it or did I miss something out?

hypothetical port question

Weird question...would it be possible to port a sense 3.6 ics Rom?
I'm not dev, but just based on what I've seen in the past:
Just about anything is "hypothetically possible". Now whether its practically feasible or not, is an entirely different (and more important) question. There comes a point, where the work to port the ROM is simply too much, and it just doesn't make sense to port (poor cost versus benefit).
At a minimum, if the device the ROM is being ported from has a different screen resolution, all of the launcher graphics need to be resized, which is a good amount of work.
Not sure, but the hardware might need to be similar as well. If not, the hardware drivers are all wrong, and its way too much work to create new drivers.
Probably trumping all this, is that Sense 3.6 is pretty obsolete at this point. Variety in ROMs is usually a goodthing. But the usual point of porting, is to get the latest and greatest on the device. Older versions of Sense are typically going to be seen as a step backwards, and therefore generate little (if any) developer interest.

If the kernel is similiar to a past one xl kernel than it makes things much easier. As well as stated above with resolution.

There's someone in android themes porting a sense 3 6 theme/skin to jellybean. Haven't checked in the progress though

Porting certain ROMS

Hi guys~
As per title, has anyone perhaps considered of porting different roms to our device? Anyone can suggest what/which roms are very nice to use/stable/fast/battery saving to port. My first opinion is trying the Elegancia ROM from the HTC Sensation. I think that phone is quite similar no? Perhaps also from HTC One S?
Anyway, this is just a suggestion. I would do it if I could but I don't know how only
If a developer can port it over, pretty sure he/she be thanked numerous times
Thanks guys!

So, if you want Elegancia ROM ported to our device, you want to downgrade the software to ICS? Cause Elegancia ROM is ICS and to be honest, there is no JB Rom outside with JB and our screen resolution, which you can port. And other resolutions needs to be resized, who can or want to do this?

Haha.. It's a suggestion~~ And I quite like the Elegancia ICS. It's stable and battery saving. I've used it on my Sensation
Otherwise, any other roms also can perhaps be ported? Are the porting tools suitable for our phones? If I want to try it? LOL~~
In case of porting, take a look for a phone with 480x800 resolution, others is to much work!
But if you can live with ICS, of course you can port Sensation Roms. But i think, most people want the newest software which is possible.
Cool things like CM you have to build yourself.
And as far as i know, there are no porting tools, you have to do by hand. But here on xda are a lot of guides for it.
In fact for porting roms you should find a device with same SoC and brand. others like resolution and ram and storage aren't big issues.

You can resize a whole rom? Every single apk must be resized. If you dominate the right tool, its possible, but still much work!
Not whole but some and also you can use other phones apks that have same resolution. Big problem is SoC compatibility.

As far as i know, you have to resize all apk's under system/app/ which you wanna use. For our rom there are 269! I don't wanna do this!
And, which phones have same resolution and better Software which is worth to take? Atm not one.
You only have Desire X with same resolution, which has Sense light software.
Or you have to go back to ICS, there are many rom's. But who want ICS, when he can use JB?
When Desire 500 is out/leaked, we can talk about. Same resolution, same Android version with Sense 5.
Anyone considered making an AOSP ROM?
