Hello fellow Desire S owners and enthusiasts. I would like to see this happen, I love stock Android and I have been trying for several days to port Nexus ONE ROM 2.3.3 to our device but I didn't have success. So I'm hoping somebody here with more skill and knowledge may do this. I don't really like what HTC is doing to the devices the Sense skinning is only eye-candy and I don't like it one bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
if you replace the launcher and install the stock apps then youre halfway there, out of interest why did you buy the desire s?
Because I like it's design mostly, I came to it from a Desire HD that one got bricked but it also had Cyanogenmod ROM available and that was very nice. I love the device itself I also had the normal Desire but the battery life was very poor on that one. Anyway, I'll keep trying to get this done.

Heres what im thinking of:
Droid/Milestone
Xperia x10
Acer Liquid
HTC Legend
What do you guys think? Also no Nexus One please.
HTC Desire beats them all tbh
It's hard to give advice without you saying anything about what you want to do with it, what carrier you're on, etc.
For me, presently HTC's so far ahead with their phones, all of the other manufacturers are all but irrelevant. I'm glad they're out there doing their thing and all, but HTC is the only one doing it with the style and polish I'm looking for, especially over the last 6 months.
Also, if you're not planning on replacing firmware on your own, don't get a phone w/o 2.1 like Acer's Liquid. If you do want to root it and use custom ROMs, buy something where that's possible.
Well im on ATT in the US, I want it mostly for Music, Android (apps), Web browsing, Very Good Camera, Occasional Videos, and of course Calling.
Those are the things most important to me, also is it me or is the Desire pretty much a nexus one with HTC sense?
This is true that the Desire is pretty much a nexus one with HTC sense>
What's your issue with the Nexus One?
I got the nexus 4g and I'm happy but I love the sense and htc phones in general. I have my phone rooted and had some custom roms but I end up trying to make them like sense anyway. I know the screen is no as good but the speaker is and the are way more options for roms for the evo even sense 3.0 (I've done my homework). All the reviews are comparing the phones are straight stock and not with kernels over clocking ect... Did I mention I love sense ui. I don't have the money for the 3d and I hear it's a little over rated. If anyone can help me decide on overall experience with roms ect. Thanks.
if you are interested in modding your phone, evo is the way to go. the evo has a much bigger community (here on xda) than the nexus s. bigger community=more development=more roms and kernels=more fun (maybe) and customization (definitely)
Thanks, that's pretty much exactly what I wanted to know. Much appreciated.
Hi all,
Since I've sold my SGS2 yesterday (I'm a fan of HTC, and specially htc sense), I'm waiting my ONE S (S4) to come, tomorrow. And, I would like you guys to help me out regarding a cooked ROM, for S4 of course. On SGS2 I've used Wanamlite's editions. I would like to have integrated in the ROM the htc sense (I suppose that there are roms that have removed the htc sense).
Can you please help me out with some ROMs, which you think that are the best calibrated? Regarding kernel, launcher, battery life, etc.
I saw that Energy is on the One S area also (I've used only his ROM's in Windows Mobile devices that I had). How do you think that is his ROM on One S? Should I go on something else?
Thank you in advance
Hey guys,
I didn't really know where to put that so I decided that here is a good place for that.
So basically I have the One S but not the one with the Snapdragon S4 processor. Mine has a Snapdragon S3. And I'm not the only one with that. But the bad thing about it is that there is only one or two custom ROMs availible (all Sense based). So now I want to get involved and try to port CyanogenMod to the device. But I don't have any experience in Android developing. Are there any tutorials that tell specifically how to port a ROM to another device without having a CM/AOSP base? What programming languages do I have to know? What do I have to have?
I already thougt that the best way to port ROMs is to take the ones from the Sensation and just port them (the Sensation is pretty similar to the One S villec2). But I don't really know what to do and how to do that.
I'm willing to learn and I know that this process could take a long time (maybe moths, idk?).
Thanks in advance.
Hmm.Maybe if you ask on Cyanogenmod forums it will be better
AW: Port a CyanogenMod
Asked there but didn't get any help so far. I hope I can get help in any forum. Is developing for Android such a closed thing? Do you have to be in this thing since the start of it or did I miss something out?

Hi,
I'm new to phone rooting, but I used a guide on this website to root my Boost Mobile HTC EVO Design 4g (not currently active on any carrier, so I'm not too worried about messing up carrier-related stuff). Anyway, I would like to Install a custom rom on it since I'm not a fan of HTC Sense 3.6. My Rom of choice would be PAC Rom, but I would settle for CyanogenMod, or anything else that's pretty good that any of you would recommend. Anyway, I've found these roms for HTC Evo, but not the Evo Design. Will a rom for the evo work on the Evo Design? I've also heard that the Hero S has the same support for roms as the evo design, but I'm not sure how much easier it will be to find roms for that. Basically, my question is, How can I get PAC Rom or CyanogenMod for the HTC Evo Design 4g?
Any/All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I hope This phone gets a lot more attention in the near future due to being the launch phone for Freedom Pop's FREE phone service.

Unfortunately, there is not much support for this phone. I have found support here for it : androidforums.com/evo-design-all-things-root. However, there seems to be one active dev and it is stuck on 4.0.3. Having said that, the ROMs there do work on this phone. The phone is already rooted with CWM 5 already on it. The Messaging app uses a custom version of CSIPSimple and is downloadable in the Play Store. I am currently on the ForgottenKingdom ROM (Kingdom is the phone's codename).
