[Q] Can't turn off my device - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just trying to flash Android Rev. HD 3.6 on my tf101. I ran the super wipe full script without reading the red text that I need to copy the rom to my external sd card. Where I am now I wont have a micro sd card until later this week. So now I am stuck at the Eee Pad screen and can't get passed it obviously. From here, how do I turn off my device? Holding the power button just restarts to the same screen. In clockwork mod (5.8.1.8) I only have reboot which of course does the same thing.
Should I just leave the device on until the battery is drained?

Never mind, just hold volume up and power for a few seconds and it turns off as usual.

VOL UP and POWER boots to APX Mode.
Do you want any solutions on how to get a ROM on your tablet?
You can boot to recovery, then connect via ADB and push a firmware to the /sdcard/ directory. Then you can flash it.
Or, you can use EasyFlasher and install TWRP recovery. It is my preferred recovery as it does full nandroid backups including the kernel, and it can see the internal and external storage.

Thanks! Pushing it with adb to the device worked very well!

[Q] Booting to Recovery with 3389

I just exchanged my g tablet at office depot and before I put clockwork recovery on the new one, I decided to update it to see what changes were made to the stock g tablet shell as I have been running vegan for a while. The tablet boots and runs as it should, but I cannot get into recovery mode. I hold power and volume + on boot and it says Dectect recovery key and it looks like it is going to boot into the stock recovery but then it goes to a screen where it looks like the tablet is updating (as if it was installing a new firmware) for about 10 seconds, then reboots into the OS...any ideas as to why I cannot get in?
thanks

I don't think the stock firmware's recovery mode has anything like the Clockworkmod's menu. The stock's recovery mode basically looks for a recovery folder and an update.zip in the internal sdcard's root directory and that is. Since there isn't a recovery folder and a file named update.zip in your internal sdcard's root directory therefore the behavior you observed was correct when you tried to boot into recovery mode. You will have to install the Clockworkmod to give you a more advanced recovery tool on the gtab.
Follow this link by scsione889 to install Clockworkmod on stock rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865017
What you are describing sounds very much like a successful update via the standard recovery console.
• Are you sure your update didn't work?
• Did you have the update.zip in the root of your sdcard and the command script in the recovery folder?
• What version do you see in the settings screen?
• Did you know that you may need to wipe user data to see the new UI even with the latest ROM?

The strange thing is, I have done all of these things. I just did the same steps I did with the old tablet and cannot get it to work.
I will reread all of the tutorials and follow your steps..maybe I am missing something? I just dont see what I am missing..
Here are my steps.
DL clockworkmod.
Put it in the root of my microSD card.
power on device holding PWR and VOL +.
Wait for the viewsonic splash screen to show detect recovery buttons.
Release buttons.
Then gTablet splash screen appears.
then stock android update screen appears as if it is updating something.
about 10-15 seconds later, device reboots to regular OS..
I have also tried these steps putting the clockwork files on the root of the tablet's storage with no luck...It is crazy that I cannot even get into the stock android recovery. I have never had an issue with this as I have had a Droid, Droid X and Droid Incredible and have already modded on tablet..
The only thing that has changed between my tablet and my returned one is the OS version. This one shows 3389 in the settings and I know I never updated my other one.
Did something change with OS 3389?

[Q] Two questions: SD card mount and Rebooting

Second topic today, first one was a bit impatient of me. I've got everything done correctly, CWM flashed, everything rooted, and everything works.
I've notice one thing, though. I cannot reboot, in anyway, back into recovery. "adb reboot recovery" does indeed reboot the device, but it never makes it into recovery, only boots as normal. Rebooting recovery from CWM(Advanced > Reboot Recovery) does the same thing. Is there a reason for this, and how would I fix this? (I'm going to assume it's a bootloader issue. Next question on that, is CyanoBoot released for the TF101?)
Second thing I have a question on is how I would flash a .zip located on the external SD card. Anytime I try to select a zip from the external, it never shows up, and only shows things from internal storage. I'm currently running Roach2010's v5.5.0.4 CMW.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Use "Transformer reboot to recovery" app, look in the play store.
or manually by holding Vol down plus power button, when you see words at to left corner, immediately push Vol up within 5 secs to get into recovery.
Roach's 5.5.0.4 version only read the internal sd.
Either move the files internally our use a cwm version that read the external sd card
Thanks for that. As soon as I find how to flash just normal CWM, I'll get to that.

[Q] TWRP screwed my phone

Hello all,
I was doing some test with the new TrickDroid as beta tester and the last time i came into TWRP recovery I got screwed. I did only a Factory reset (my log says that) but my sdcard is formatted too). I tried to mount my sd with computer (that works) and tried to recovery my data with GetDataBack, but it's all gone.
I had to format my sd card, did that and placed a rom on it. But TWRP doesn't see the ROM file on my sd card. So I want to go to bootloader to push a ROM to sd card, cause I wiped all my data and I need a ROM to start.
But I can't close that fuuuu TWRP. I can't reboot, it says you have to install a ROM first (yeah but how, sd card formatted and it doesn't recognize files on it). I tried the power button + volume down button in TWRP to shut off my phone, but that button is used in recovery to lock your recovery.
At the end, how I can get my phone off and push a ROM? I'm on 70% battery, it will take 24h before that's gone.
EDIT: Oke I wiped my sdcard within TWRP and guess what? It sees my sdcard with the ROM I placed on it in mounted mode. That's not a wipe isn't it? It's only a bring back your sd card like before. Maybe I'm just a noob but I can't trust that TWRP recovery.

Just push power button + volume down to see capacitive leds et drop power button to go in bootloader, now you can install CWM recovery and send a rom by adb !
Mine is dead, I can't power up the device and I can't acces to bootloader

Is my Xoom bricked?

Hey All,
I know there are a lot threads like this on here, so I made sure I tried everything possible before asking for help.
First off, It is a MZ604 wifi version.
Ok, upon powering up my Xoom, it will get to the Motorola screen/ dual core and stall.
I am able to get into recovery, however the version I am running, 5.8.3.1 apparently does not allow sd card mounting, so I am unable to restore or flash a new rom.
A factory reset/ data wipe does nothing.
I have tried to flash a new rom via ADB, however my computer will not install the Xoom drivers. It will say "installing device drivers" for about 2 minutes or so before failing. I have tried using moto helper and the other Motorola usb drivers
I am unable to boot into android to enable usb debugging
I have tried all of the above on my laptop too and to the same result.
My question is, is this a brick? or can it be solved.
Thanks for your time
Yes it can be fixed, if you can access recovery then it means you can access fastboot. So what you do is once you're in the fastboot protocol, is flash in TWRP recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782235
With that recovery you can mount SD cards, so use a computer to download the ROM you want then flash. Hopefully you get the idea, but I can post in more detail if you want.

Thanks for responding, I appreciate it. The thing is that my xoom cannot connect to my computer, and therefore and cannot use fastboot to send it the image correct?
I could fix all of this if I could just get the drivers to install, but because of my xoom's condition, the drivers cannot install no matter what.
Hmm usually fastboot drivers should automatically install. Does your recovery have an option to boot into fastboot? Once you're in fastboot it should automatically install the drivers, and in the android sdk folder in CMD (assuming you're running windows) put in this command: fastboot devices
It should show up your XOOM if not install this http://www.motorola.com/Support/AU-EN/Support-Homepage/Software-and-Drivers/USB-PC-Charging-Drivers
And try again
Hi all!
I got the same problem...
I can connect it to PC and do fastboot, I've flashed it many times, but it didn't affect my Xoom, i've reflashed the recovery to a lower version (tiamat rc4) but the recovery still shows version 5.8.3.1...
I even tried RSD, but it still the same...
no errors, and no effects...
is my Xoom bricked?
^I heard of this before, sounds like your new recovery image just gets overwritten by the current recovery. Though I thought it was only for stock recovery.
but, how can I overwrite it? it seems like they are read only...
It's all about timing, to access recovery once you see the Moto logo wait 2-3 seconds then vol + then vol + again. This is right after you flashed in your new recovery.
You can also access your fastboot like that as well, instead of pressing vol + again, press vol - then vol +.

that's not the problem... of course I can access the recovery, fastboot and RSD, the problem is that I whatever I do to the xoom just don't work... and it reports no error at all... it's just succeed, but nothing happened... It's like a PC running windows with DeepFreeze installed...
Anyone got the same problem? can anybody help me?:crying:
No you're missing the whole point, after you flashed your new recovery it may get overwritten if you don't reboot into recovery straight way. It never happened to me but I have read that people has that issue.

[Q] Reset TF101 back to Asus ROM problems

I used clockworkmod to install Cyanogenmod on my TF101, and that worked fine. I am now wanting to revert back to the factory ROM so I can sell this tablet. I downloaded the .zip from Asus (the US version) but think it was the wrong one. I booted into Clockworkmod and had it restore from the .zip I downloaded, but now the TF101 is stuck in the boot-up screen and if I power it off, it turns itself back on and hangs (loop).
I just need to get this back to factory defaults, any suggestions on how?
Thank you!
Did you unzip the file once?
Otherwise, try EasyFlasher.
Good question, and yes, I did unzip once, which created a folder with another zip in it. I copied that folder (with the zip in it) to an SD card and pointed Clockworkmod to that zip when doing the restore. I'll look into that other option and appreciate more suggestions as well.
How do I use EasyFlasher if the device doesn't boot? At what point do I run the software?
You need to boot to APX mode (vol up and power).
Does your tablet still have a custom recovery? Or do you get a dead droid when you try to go to recovery?
I "was" able to get into ATX mode (the the green menu), but can't seem to anymore by doing vol+ and power... I did get the dead droid after attempting the first restore.

Do you have then the right ROM zip at the root of your MicroSD card before you try this way restore?
No, I didn't know the rom needed to be at the root of the card, thank you! Although that may have done it, if finally got to the factory default ROM restore, and was able to get it back to the factory defaults. Thank you all!
