Second topic today, first one was a bit impatient of me. I've got everything done correctly, CWM flashed, everything rooted, and everything works.
I've notice one thing, though. I cannot reboot, in anyway, back into recovery. "adb reboot recovery" does indeed reboot the device, but it never makes it into recovery, only boots as normal. Rebooting recovery from CWM(Advanced > Reboot Recovery) does the same thing. Is there a reason for this, and how would I fix this? (I'm going to assume it's a bootloader issue. Next question on that, is CyanoBoot released for the TF101?)
Second thing I have a question on is how I would flash a .zip located on the external SD card. Anytime I try to select a zip from the external, it never shows up, and only shows things from internal storage. I'm currently running Roach2010's v5.5.0.4 CMW.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Use "Transformer reboot to recovery" app, look in the play store.
or manually by holding Vol down plus power button, when you see words at to left corner, immediately push Vol up within 5 secs to get into recovery.
Roach's 5.5.0.4 version only read the internal sd.
Either move the files internally our use a cwm version that read the external sd card
Thanks for that. As soon as I find how to flash just normal CWM, I'll get to that.

I'm new to CWM and I just flashed humble gingerbread 4.2 on my phone and it worked great. Now I want to install the update through CWR or CWM (Pretty sure they're the same). I can't figure out how to get into CWR mode. What buttons do you have to press.
Thanks Brian.
From Humble, you have two options. The easier of the two is to find Quick Boot in your app drawer and use the recovery option.
The universal method to get to recovery, regardless of what is installed, is to power down, and then once the phone is completely off, hold Home+VolUp+Power. Keep holding them and you'll end up in recovery.
Now when I update I just put the update file on my sd card and find through recovery mode and install it right?
I notice in the update there's two folders. Not exactly sure how to update it.
You need to put it on the SD card as a zip. Don't unpack it, just put is on as the zip and choose the "install update from zip" option and choose that file from the card.
alright i did that, it said it completed and I went back to the main menu and rebooted. It that all I have to do?
Pretty much. Depending on what you are doing, you might have to mount system prior to flashing, but for most things you don't, and it will usually tell you in the thread if you do.
Alright cool, phone is running really nice now. Much faster then the stock ROM.
Hello all,
I was doing some test with the new TrickDroid as beta tester and the last time i came into TWRP recovery I got screwed. I did only a Factory reset (my log says that) but my sdcard is formatted too). I tried to mount my sd with computer (that works) and tried to recovery my data with GetDataBack, but it's all gone.
I had to format my sd card, did that and placed a rom on it. But TWRP doesn't see the ROM file on my sd card. So I want to go to bootloader to push a ROM to sd card, cause I wiped all my data and I need a ROM to start.
But I can't close that fuuuu TWRP. I can't reboot, it says you have to install a ROM first (yeah but how, sd card formatted and it doesn't recognize files on it). I tried the power button + volume down button in TWRP to shut off my phone, but that button is used in recovery to lock your recovery.
At the end, how I can get my phone off and push a ROM? I'm on 70% battery, it will take 24h before that's gone.
EDIT: Oke I wiped my sdcard within TWRP and guess what? It sees my sdcard with the ROM I placed on it in mounted mode. That's not a wipe isn't it? It's only a bring back your sd card like before. Maybe I'm just a noob but I can't trust that TWRP recovery.

Nothing wrong with twrp, NOOB.
Sent from my HTC One S using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Just push power button + volume down to see capacitive leds et drop power button to go in bootloader, now you can install CWM recovery and send a rom by adb !
Mine is dead, I can't power up the device and I can't acces to bootloader

I did a backup of my ROM this morning before I tried a script and found that the script messed up my Inspire. So I attempted booting into recovery, only to find it would just ignore my attempts to select anything and insist on going into flashing PD98img.zip. Nothing I did would make the volume buttons select anything else.
I removed the SD card, moved PD98img.zip out of the root of the SD card, put the SD card back in, and attempted booting into recovery. This time it worked just fine. For some reason, finding PD98img.zip was the problem.
I hope this helps someone else who may be in the same boat at some time. I didn't find anything about this while googling about being unable to use the volume buttons to get into recovery and flash a backup of my ROM.
Great tip!
Thank you for this.

This has always been the case for this phone...
Hi!
I'm im trouble. I've bricked my TF101 in very dumb way: I've locked it between "blind" CWM and broken OS.
Short history:
I tried to install Android Revolution HD.
To do that I installer some CWM by using OneclickrecoveryV0.4. It installed OK with no problem.
So I took Revolution HD Super Wipe Full zip, copied it to card, put it to sd card, volume down, volume up... So I flashed it.
But pad didn't boot. It remains on Asus logo boot screen.
OK, I'm smart, I decided to flash "correct" CWM. ClockworkMod Recovery 3.2.0.1 by Roach2010. So I chose Touch Recovery v5.8.1.8. Why?Because when you click on that link, you find two options: Touch Recovery v5.8.1.8 and ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4 roach-tf101-r2. And somehow I decided that touch version is better for me. =)
After I installed that, I received ClockworkMod 5.8.1.8. But it doesn't see my card. It see *some* sdcard. I can even fomat it from menu. I can copy error log there. I see a folder named "clockworkmod" on that sdcard. But it is not the real external card.
So I'm stuck with not booting OS and CWM not reading /sdcard.
Any advise?
Use Nvflash to flash stock ICS again and start from there. Check in the stickies around the thread and you should know where to go. Of course you would need a PC to revive your TF101.
Once you get it back to life, instead of using CWM try installing goo manager from the play store, and install TWRP recovery. I've found from reading several different posts that TWRP plays a little better with the TF101 then it does with the CWM.
Once you get TWRP installed and it can see your external card, make a FULL back up to the sd card, or a Spare sd card like I do, so that when (no longer if) I goof something up, I can swap out and reinstall from last known good configuration. I also keep a copy of the sd card on both my home and work computers, just in case.
I'm not 100% nailed down on exactly what it is with CWM and the TF101 not wanting to play nicely in the sandbox together, but there are several at length posts about it. Of course I tried the same thing that you did, and got hosed for an hour or so while I read the posts. And above all, DO NOT use ROM Manager, if you think this is bad wait until you try that one.
Thanks farsight73, thanks MasterDecker!
But I did mistake describing a problem... Device is TF101G, so nvflash is not a solution AFAIK. Serial is B80.
It doesnt boot to ADB, but boots to NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery device and to ASUS Android MTP Device though.
I'll search more for solution on forum, but still any advice =) is gratefully accepted.
Thanks.
I was just trying to flash Android Rev. HD 3.6 on my tf101. I ran the super wipe full script without reading the red text that I need to copy the rom to my external sd card. Where I am now I wont have a micro sd card until later this week. So now I am stuck at the Eee Pad screen and can't get passed it obviously. From here, how do I turn off my device? Holding the power button just restarts to the same screen. In clockwork mod (5.8.1.8) I only have reboot which of course does the same thing.
Should I just leave the device on until the battery is drained?

Never mind, just hold volume up and power for a few seconds and it turns off as usual.
VOL UP and POWER boots to APX Mode.
Do you want any solutions on how to get a ROM on your tablet?
You can boot to recovery, then connect via ADB and push a firmware to the /sdcard/ directory. Then you can flash it.
Or, you can use EasyFlasher and install TWRP recovery. It is my preferred recovery as it does full nandroid backups including the kernel, and it can see the internal and external storage.

Thanks! Pushing it with adb to the device worked very well!
