hi, im thinking about buy an atrix 2 buy at&t and i want to ask if the at&t version will get 4.1? i was looking around and see that the 4.1 at the forum is only for no-at&t divices...
And why don't you buy an international Atrix 2.
And in venezuela you can't use AT&T.
because i cant find a international version, and why at&t does not work in venezuela?
The CM10 AND 10.1, which are 4.1 and 4.2 respectively are available for ATT too. And other roms like PA, magicmod are also 4.1. Only the JB leak isn't for ATT (for now). It's being ported by Jim.

hello guys i need your advice or suggestions.. my dad just bought a T-Mobile Galaxy S2 and At&t Atrix 2. which is the best phone to SIM UNLOCK and send to me here in the philippines? whats the best option considering there will be update from gingerbread to ice cream sandwich?
Both will get ICS, i would choose atrix2 for its build quality and qHD display. There're reasons to choose S2 which is mainly development and community wise and 16gb rom.
so, either of the phones can be used anywhere as long as it is SIM unlocked?
The motorola atrix is trash. And yes, sim unlocked gsm phones can be used overseas. I am currently overseas with a T-mobile unlocked phone.

what specific phone model are you using? t-mobile galaxy s2?
No, I have an HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G) waiting to upgrade to the nexus.
okay... im just worried about sim unlocking t-mobile galaxy s2 and not to be able to use it here in the philippines
atrix2 faster + newer
Are you kidding me? The atrix 2 is like 2 weeks newer than the t-mobile sgs2. And the SGS2 has a 1.5 ghz dual core processor. To say the atrix is a better phone is absolute stupidity.
i would consider both phones the atrix 2 and sgs2 but my concern is their functionality, if i can be able to sim unlock and use either of them in the philippines. thanks for your infos by the way!
There's a great bs hype about S2 phones, eventhough their display and build quality is pure ****ty, everybody pretends that it's great, fantastic, lol. I am telling you as someone who sells all kind of these phones in my shop, not like those superhyped kids who didn't even see an atrix 2.
Get the Atrix2, you will not regret it ever.
i have a samsung skyrocket i was debating on putting the os 4 on my phone. now if i decide to add the software to my device does it really void the warranty? Also has anyone had a negitive experiance with the leaked version?
ICS Leaked is not for our phone it is for the International version of the Samsung Galaxy S II (Not the LTE Skyrocket). Technically installing a custom rom will void your warranty although there are ways around this in the long run.
Our phone should be updated by March although with Samsung has completed the programing it would now be ether at Google for review or with your carrier to add their apps and testing. Once that is complete must go back to Google for review once more and back to the carrier for more testing.
I would personally wait as the ICS version from samsung will have all drivers and compatability for your phone which is a good thing.
That won't work on the SkyRocket it was leaked for s2 only
There are a few different S2 variants. As was mentioned, the version leaked is for the "standard" S2.
Our phone (which is known internationally as the Galaxy S II LTE, and is also very similar to the T-Mobile Galaxy S II), was announced to receive an ICS upgrade AFTER the standard Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note get them in Q1, so we might have to sit tight for a bit, could be a few months.
Once a ROM is released or leaked for any of the Snapdragon-based models, they'll probably be able to use that to form the basis for solid ICS roms on our phone as well.
I have a baseless theory that we might see it around the time the Skyrocket HD comes out, because there are always maintenance releases around new phones and it just makes good sense to have that ready.
Canadian users that are with ROGERS... Anyone that as recently bought a Samsung Captivate Glide canadian users Be Aware that if you looking for Roms and have found the CRANIUM TEST KEYS rom it is STRICLY SETUP for AT&T customers.
I had the pleasure of installing it and finding this out. In time I am sure there will be more suitable Roms for everyone, AT&T and Rogers users... with the Samsung Glide.
But as it was setup to work with both AT&T i927 and Rogers i927r versions of the phone. There were a few things not mentioned and it all suits AT&T customers in the USA.
I'm on Rogers and I rather buy the Telus version of the HTC One X because it comes in a charcoal colour. However, can someone tell me if I can unlock the phone with ease and use it on Rogers? Are there any custom roms available to flash on Telus' HTC One X so that I can get better performance and eliminate the carrier branding on the phone?

Other than the colour, electronically, the phones are identical.
There are a plethora of threads to read here to get yourself rooted and using custom ROMs. That being said; the TELUS ROM unlike Rogers has no carrier specific branding or software on it except for 1, unobstructed application.
Q&A...Q&A...Q&A (that's where all question threads belong)

Thanks for the information. Is there a free way to unlock the phone? Do you have any suggestions on what is the best way to unlock the phone?
there are plenty of unlocking services on ebay for less than $10.
I'm not aware of a free way of SIM-unlocking like there was on the Desire Z/G2.
I also have a dedicated guide on the Telus HOX in my signature as well if you want a step-by-step on unlocking the bootloader and getting custom roms on your Telus variant.

Can you confirm whether I can just drop by any Telus store and buy the HOX off contract without any hassles? What is the lowest price off contract? Is it better to buy from FS/BB or the Telus store?
Which Tom are you using? Is the Cyanogen 10 Nightly build compatible with this version of the One X? I think it's Te international version of the HOX that is compatible, but I would like to know.

If it says AT&T Rogers Telstra HTC One X it basicly means our phone. I belive we do have a Cm10 build by h8. Personally I got my One X from Ebay which is a fair bit cheaper and as long as it's a non AT&T you don't need to worry at ALL about rooting the phone

If you have the money, going to the Telus store is your best bet. If you go to FS/BB or any other 3rd party, they run heavy on commission so they may pressure you into signing a new contract. Telus stores aren't as heavy and I have bought many phones off contract by simply asking them. It will still be locked, though you can ask them to unlock it for you since you're not getting it subsidized.
I am running CleanROM 4.5 Final and I love it. Very stable and very good on battery. I tried NT and others, but the stock look of Sense 4.0 is very appealing to me. There is a version of CM10 that is available here. I'm not a fan of nightlies so I don't use it personally.

What's wrong with the nightlies? Is it not stable? If I go with CM10, then I'll lose Sense right? If so, it's not a big deal for me. I want as close to ICS/Jelly Bean as possible. I'd go with the Galaxy Nexus if it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't have LTE.
Are you sure Telus will even consider unlocking the phone for me if I buy it off contract? I have a feeling they won't.

You can always ask. Some of the associates there are not so bright. Example, the guy who gave me my HOX didn't know a single thing about it. Pretty sure I heard his manager fire him on my way out.
The nightlies is just a personal opinion. Never used them so I can't comment on them, but there's something about nightly releases that doesnt sit well with me.

Any word on if Jelly Bean is still on coarse to be released later this month?
Or had it been delayed again...

According to mobilesyrup, "early February" now. Looks like it isn't too far away.

I got my Fido RAZR HD from Canada yesterday - presumably Fido have the same update schedule as Rogers?
Still waiting for a SIM unlock code at the moment, so I can't even use it yet, booo

I'll believe it when it's released. I was told "Late November" when I bought my Razr HD. Slipped nearly 3 months already. I'm expecting March, honestly. I think there's something in Rogers bloatware that isn't transitioning to JB well, and that's the holdup. No other good reason for it to take this long, since other XT925 have JB since Dec.
Hah, yeah you may be right about the bloatware it should be exactly the same as the international version (e.g. Euro models got JB late November), but with slightly different radio firmware...
It is pretty strange and frustrating rolling back from a two year old Nexus S on 4.1.2 to a brand new RHD on 4.0.4!
I know the feeling. My last phone was a Motorola Defy on CMX 4.1.2, and that phone started on Eclair.
Mods, this thread should be moved the Q&A since it isn't development related.
Next, about Rogers; I don't believe that it's their bloatware. I think they have resource problems with carrier testing. All of the updates I've seen issued from Rogers Motorola devices have had build dates months behind then when it was actually released. I wouldn't be suprised if the Rogers JB 4.1 build is dated October 2012. I think Rogers should setup some kind of early testing program for people who want updates on their phones faster, which would allow the user population to do the testing for them. I'm an IT guy and expect some problems with my technology, if I can help the company sort out bugs faster than they can find them I think we would all be a lot happier.
FYI, the Fido and Rogers firmware are the same build. When you put in a Fido SIM card, it removes the Rogers bloat and installs the Fido bloat.
Finally, until anybody has actually used a Verizon branded Motorola device, please don't talk about "bloatware" like it's so bad... We have like 8 apps that we can freeze, you should see what's on some of those VZW phones...
Haha, ok agreed on the Verizon bloatware... let's maybe just call it fluffware or something
Interestingly, when I got my Fido device, I put my T-Mo UK SIM in straight away and it did not prompt me to install crap at startup (i.e. with this).
So afaics, there is no fluffware on my phone!
Sad and annoying to hear about Rogers' testing bottleneck, but one has to wonder why they need to test so extensively anyway (vs. Euro operators for example). I mean, even Verizon beat them to the punch this time, and they have a horrendous rep for delaying firmware updates!
