Canadian users that are with ROGERS... Anyone that as recently bought a Samsung Captivate Glide canadian users Be Aware that if you looking for Roms and have found the CRANIUM TEST KEYS rom it is STRICLY SETUP for AT&T customers.
I had the pleasure of installing it and finding this out. In time I am sure there will be more suitable Roms for everyone, AT&T and Rogers users... with the Samsung Glide.
But as it was setup to work with both AT&T i927 and Rogers i927r versions of the phone. There were a few things not mentioned and it all suits AT&T customers in the USA.

Best Android tablet for ~$200?

I'm looking for an Android tablet, preferably under $200.
Features wanted:
Preferably upgradable to Froyo (by rooting etc)
I don't care about resistive/capacitive, and Galaxy Tab is too expensive
Thanks
I would get the Hauwei Ideos S7 because it is unlocked and you can use it as a 7" phone.
Being a new Verizon customer myself, how do you activate this on Verizon? (Always an AT&T/TMobile customer before, SIM all the way...) xD
You can only activate things that verizons sells on verizon.
I would do a AT&T GoPhone or T-Mobile prepaid option for this baby
I would check att first, with tmo you will only get 2g/edge network. Other than that, its fine.
Sent from Jt's Samsung Galaxy Tab!!

[Q] ICS 4.0 for skyrocket

i have a samsung skyrocket i was debating on putting the os 4 on my phone. now if i decide to add the software to my device does it really void the warranty? Also has anyone had a negitive experiance with the leaked version?
ICS Leaked is not for our phone it is for the International version of the Samsung Galaxy S II (Not the LTE Skyrocket). Technically installing a custom rom will void your warranty although there are ways around this in the long run.
Our phone should be updated by March although with Samsung has completed the programing it would now be ether at Google for review or with your carrier to add their apps and testing. Once that is complete must go back to Google for review once more and back to the carrier for more testing.
I would personally wait as the ICS version from samsung will have all drivers and compatability for your phone which is a good thing.
That won't work on the SkyRocket it was leaked for s2 only
There are a few different S2 variants. As was mentioned, the version leaked is for the "standard" S2.
Our phone (which is known internationally as the Galaxy S II LTE, and is also very similar to the T-Mobile Galaxy S II), was announced to receive an ICS upgrade AFTER the standard Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note get them in Q1, so we might have to sit tight for a bit, could be a few months.
Once a ROM is released or leaked for any of the Snapdragon-based models, they'll probably be able to use that to form the basis for solid ICS roms on our phone as well.
I have a baseless theory that we might see it around the time the Skyrocket HD comes out, because there are always maintenance releases around new phones and it just makes good sense to have that ready.

Newb at Android! Need help with choosing a phone to use..

Hi everyone.
I am a newb to Android, and I have a difficult situation at hand.
Here is my long and winding story.
I am currently living in Canada, using Rogers Mobile, and someone is giving me a Galaxy Note from South Korea (SHV-E-160S).
It is unlocked.
Will I be able to use this phone in Canada? I don't have a data plan so using 3G or LTE or anything like that is not a major problem.
Also, if I root it, will I be able to use any useful custom roms? or is that impossible because of the lack of developer support?
Here is the second part of my problem. If I opt to sell the Note, and get a galaxy S3, which model should I be looking into?
I am trying to use the phone in both Canada and in South Korea, and I want it to work on both. However, I know that Rogers is GSM and most of the networks in South Korea are WCDMA. Also, which model has the best developer support for ROMs?
Sorry, I just have so many questions and not enough answers anywhere.. Please help!
The note will work.
The international gs3 will work in Korea
Sent from my U8150 using XDA
Yes you should be able to use it!
And be able to root and customize it as well!
Btw...the galaxy note is a stable phone...but if you are still opting to sell it...then the galaxy s3 international version will do!
It should work in South Korea and Canada as well!
Dont know as to which model has the best developer support yet...Sorry!

[Q] Kernels on other SGS3 variants?

Hey everyone,
I've never owned an unlocked phone before, so I apologize if this is a stupid/obvious question. I'm on the Verizon variant of the S3 and I'm looking around at other forums here and seeing some interesting kernel development, particularly faux123's kernel in the T-Mobile thread. I know that us Verizon folks used a Sprint verizon of ktoonsez's kernel before a Verizon version was released, so can it be assumed that an AOSP-based kernel for a T-Mobile or AT&T phone can be used on Verizon as well? I know Sprint is more similar to Verizon than TMO or AT&T, but as far as I can tell, kernel doesn't really touch most of that stuff.
Here is a link to the kernel in question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1785472
If anyone knows whether this will work on a Verizon phone (or if I'm taking a major risk by flashing it, or if worst case scenario I just won't boot and I restore a backup), I would appreciate you passing on your knowledge.
Cheers
Well I got impatient and figured I would just flash it and see. Works fine as far as I can tell. Still, if anyone can answer, should this be applicable to all kernels? I'd love to test out all the AT&T/T-Mobile kernels (AOSP of course).

Question about the Sprint variant

Ive been on Sprint for a good while now and I've had Nexus phones for years now so I'm not used to having to worry about the different versions and if I'll get to use custom roms or not.
But because I remember how much life sucked pre Nexus, 5,6,6p on Sprint, I was just wondering if this variant of the s8 is destined to live a stock rom life? I see the international and TMobile and att versions etc are already flourishing, but not a whole lot here.
Just trying to make my decision of do I upgrade or finally move to a gsm carrier.

Most of those roms are Universal for all carriers. You just have to flash your sprint CSC/Userdata to get all network features. Check Verizon or ATT threads.
