This definitely has a long way to go...
This should go without saying but
TAKE A BACKUP IN RECOVERY BEFORE FLASHING
I have recently rebuilt Evervolv, it should work MUCH better than before - thanks to the razrqcom team for maintaining such great CM repo's - could NOT have built this without their efforts!!

BugList
RIL (no cell radio... yes, this bug still exists)
BT (untested)
GPS (untested)
Probably anything else imaginable... This is build #2 technically
Post #3 will probably be workarounds
It's up guys! I got touch fixed, but holy cow there's some slowness issues. I think it's related to vsync, there's a lot of errors about it.
Getting closer!! This should really help out interloper's work on CM10 as well

Touch works... I'm still having some issues bisecting the branch mess I've created for myself, so I haven't made much more progress.
Great work! I hope to be trying this out pretty soon!
nice work here, keep the good work up :good:
arrrghhh, thanks a ton for your time & efforts.

Hey folks,
Finally building a little more cleanly... just adding proprietary stuff now.
Not much more to report, nothing new uploaded yet... I hope to at least sort out the awful slowness so the system is at least functional. Then wifi will probably be next, and RIL I will probably need some help with. I have a feeling that is going to be tricky, especially with this phone...
Not a Programmer by any means but if your talking things that are easily explained to a linux junkie, I'll do anything to see a custom rom take off for this phone
Re: [ROM] Evervolv JellyBean 4.2.1
I haven't done any rom work in over a year, but I can offer myself up for help.
Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2
Still smashing my head against why it's so slow... I haven't really made much progress as I want to resolve this before even thinking about looking at something else.
Definitely a display issue. Hoping the Razr M having official JB will help (going to try and use their kernel...)
is there still any progress ?

I haven't really came back to this because of the issues with CDMA on CM10.
Even if I rebuild this and it works well, CDMA likely won't work
damn, but with the sim modded photon qs it would work.

Anyone is welcome to pickup the cause
I might take another crack at it, but without cell phone service it's kinda disappointing.
The Jelly Bean soak test has been leaked ... so one would assume an official OTA is on the way. Will that help us as far as getting this more solid, or would we still have CDMA issues due to it being CM10 based? I'm not familiar with the dev work behind the scenes at all, but curious to know what's possible on the horizon.
This is not a request for an ETA ... I know people are doing this in their spare time. Just wondering if this is more or less a lost cause at this point ...

Well I'll believe it when I see it I haven't seen anything else from CM showing support for Mecha at all there isn't even a forum for it. So far none of the developers aren't going to make a new RIL so until there is a leak or an update we won't see fully working ICS in any fashion. TwistedUmbrella and ProTekk have both made great progress in getting things work but RIL won't work until HTC releases the goods. So who knows maybe once that happens CM9 will get official and release a nightly and make a forum idk.
Workshed has been the CM guru since I've had a smartphone. When the ril is cracked or leaked for ics I'd expect an unofficial cm or official

Well Twisted Playground uses parts from CM9 I think. To be honest I could careless about CM9 between AOKP and Twisted Playground we got the goods.

+1 Twisted has an awesome base for his ROM, and I personally appreciate him waiting for an official ril. I personally want a working stable ics ROM, not another unofficial cm with half assed data that gets no updates like 99% of thunderbolt ROMs.

There was not a forum for a lot of phones they had committed to yet (like the Galaxy Nexus) last time I looked.
I would not take that as a negative sign. A forum will come when the kernel comes I am sure.
the Galaxy Nexus has a forum. But yeah idk ever since the whole CM7 thing I kinda gave up on CM.
Well, either way you look at it Cyanogenmod is such a unique ROM, made such a huge splash that parts of it were implemented in vanilla AOSP in 4.0 by Google. That's huge. And I can't say I know of any other ROM that's done something like that. So having official CM9 support is a massive plus, and I know exactly which ROM I'll be running when it happens
You guys really need to go to Rootzwiki. The development for the TB is happening there, there's already a CM9 port and two AOSP 4.0.4 ports with all but the RIL working.
All those are posted here except liquid ICS I think. But the only one that has actually been updated and released for quite a while is Twisted Playground and that is here and on Rootzwiki. I would say currently Twisted Playground has the most working. Once RIL is released in one form or another ProTekk will update AOKP idk if Liquid will update his or not from what I could see it didn't really differ a whole lot from AOKP. So we just have to wait once there is a working RIL we'll get more updated working roms.
Tbolt channel of Rootwiki and Androidcentral do seem to be a bit more populated then xda. Either way, dont care where it happens, il be checking all 3 as much as posible for CM9 and / or ICS ROMS
Rootzwiki is better for somethings but lately Twisted Playgrounds thread on XDA has been better.
Yeah I bounce back and forth between the two.
I don't know what it is, but I feel like XDA is my home and always will be.... I miss when it was THE centralized location for Android development
If anyone has questions or concerns regarding the CyanogenMod 10 please ask here and stay away from the development section for these posts, as it has over 3000 posts.

So, does (or will) the camera app in CM10 have the same burst mode that the Sense camera has? Can you take AS MANY photos AS QUICKLY? Will those photos be similar quality? Will we be able to pull stills from previously recorded video? Or take Hi Res stills while shooting HD video?
I read the last 15 pages of the development thread and didn't see any of this being discussed.
Thanks a bunch!
Billy

Burst mode is a sense cam feature only, because there is no sense in cm those features will not be there. Your best bet is if you want sense cam but asop feel go with clean rom or tn rom, they can desense the launcher but keep the apps but you will be on ics. But i will say the cm cam is alot faster then it used to be and is still a good camera.
**PLEASE READ IN REGARDS TO CAMERA ISSUES WITH CM10**
The rapid fire camera mode is named Zero Shutter Lag or ZSL and there are plans to implement this in the near future. You will also soon be able to take still pictures while recording video. H8 & the CM10 team are working on getting every feature of the camera to 100% and they say they are nearly there.
However, as of right now the camera, video camera, & panorama mode is still relatively broken. The camera's bare bones features are working but only in the build's that are labeled as EXPERIMENTAL. The regular CM10 nightlies do not contain the WORKAROUND that H8 has come up with because this workaround has not been merged with the offical CM10 nightlies that the One XL is now getting.
Word on the street is the camera will be 100% working very, very soon so please be patient.
If you use and rely on the camera on a daily basis...please only flash the EXPERIMENTAL builds until further notice!!!

by audio fixes do you mean caller volume? Im on the 8/22 build. I heard the 8/19 has good caller voice but it kills my battery.
Any idea how we can get native emoji working? It gives the option to download the add on in keyboards settings. Installs. Then refreshes and shows ready to download again. Also, any plans for Google wallet? This ROM is amazing and ridiculously fast!! Thanks for your hard work and help!!

I have a couple of general questions.
1. Will the official release of HTC JB drastically and rapidly improve the project? Will lots of things need to be redone/reoptimized? Or it's simply some missing links being filled? What kind of time frame can we expect for a fully working CM10 (equal or close to the quality of CM on the other officially supported devices) following the HTC JB release?
2. Exactly how was the team able to develop this rom so far without official support? And how much farther can this realistically go if we do not get the official JB in the near future (hopefully this doesn't happen). From what I read, I'm under the impression that this rom is already in a much better shape compared to the development phase CM builds on many other non-officially supported devices (for example ICS/JB builds on older devices that received EOL after GB). Is the kernel of the phone somewhat "easier" to crack compared to those devices or is that we have some super talented developers behind this project? And the developer seems confident that even without official HTC JB, this rom can pretty much become a *fully working* one?
Thanks for the awsome work!
Is wake locks an issue with cm10 so far or just a few users isolated type instance? I was getting massive wake lock for alarmmanager that I do not get on CleanRom.
anyone else getting bad battery life with this ROM? currently running the 8/29 nightly.
Right now im at 33% battery with 11h on the battery but only 1h45min screen time. I also have GPS on and brightness around 1/2..which could possibly be the problem.

1. Nope, didn't help us at all. Didnt need it. As far as I'm concerned, after tonight's nightly (technically...tomorrow morning's nightly) everything is pretty much 100%. a few bugs here or there...but I think the Nexus devices are the only ones ahead of us regarding "working" status.
2. We're magical. *snicker* just kidding. We've pretty much completely beat HTC to Jellybean with CM10. The great part of the kernel work intervigil has provided is that we use the same kernel for ICS and JB. Meaning we can backport all JB stuff to ICS with minimal differences. We are very confident that this will be a fully working one. The last piece we needed was the Camera HAL which we *just* received.
Thank you for the thanks! Enjoy!

That sir, is very impressive. "Beating HTC to jellybean" sounds so satisfying in an ambitious way, and completely changes the way these games used to be played. Hats off to all the "magicians" who made this happen!
One more question: what about LTE? I'm currently on the 4.0.4 based CleanRom 4.5, which is my first custom rom flashed on the phone (only bought it a week ago). Do I have to flash back to a 4.0.3 based ROM (which I have trouble finding) before flashing to CM 10? If the answer is still yes, is a solution being worked out to troubleshoot and solve the problem?

I'm not entirely sure if something is being worked on but I think you should flash CR4.0 as it is definitely working and is 4.0.3 base which is what h8rift said to flash.
Sent from my HTC One X(L/AT&T)
May I ask what is the right procedure to flash CM10? In the zip there is a boot.img. Do we need to manually extract and flash it with fastboot?
I ask this because some people (including me) can't make LTE to work in CM9/10. Some say by flashing CleanROM 4.0, full reset then flash CM10, LTE will be the default. This trick does not work for me. What is the mechanism of this trick? What stays after full reset? All I can think is the boot image. But even manually flashing CleanROM's boot.img then flash CM10 does not work for me. Changing build.prop (ro.ril.def.preferred.network and ro.telephony.default_network as suggested at code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=1623 , sorry can't link external) of course does not work either.
I know #*#*info*#*# can change the preferred network type, but it does not stick after reboot, which renders this approach useless.
Thanks.
Seems my hard work has finally paid off!

I'll update my thread accordingly once the nightlies begin. Since it'll be a couple of days before the nightlies actually begin, I'll run another build in the mean time. Partly because I want to make sure the CM repo will produce good builds
Yay!
Bugs that still exist: touchkey w/ BLN that they're using is just an interim driver... I need to finish porting that. Also, the random WIFI MAC bug. Ugh.
Oh! And there's a work around for users of the official CWM in ROM Manager. Until once the new builds kick in, you should be able to install them through the official CWM, which will allow CWM to update and correct their problem. This is some serious catch 22 stuff. But it'll get worked out.
Otherwise, you people should be able to start enjoying some nightly CM goodness.
I can then go on to finish the I577 port and get them on their way as well...

Hell yeah! In a couple of weeks we went from doubting whether we'd ever see ICS on our phones to official CM10 support.
Seems I've lucked out with the purchase of my last two phones thanks to the awesomeness of the folks here on XDA. A couple years ago the HD2 was the most powerful subsidized phone available from T-Mobile (Nexus One was probably the best phone but couldn't afford to buy it in full). I reluctantly bought the HD2 but wanted Android OS so bad. About a month later devs ported a stable rom over via SD card and then made it NAND flash-able.
A couple months ago I was due for an upgrade again. I had to buy two phones (my wife's MyTouch 3G just wasn't cutting it for her) so I was again on a limited budget. When I looked at the specs I chose the Blaze since it seemed like the most powerful phone for the money. I was again bummed because it was running an older OS version than my two year old WinMo phone but now here we are!
:good::victory:
Could someone explain to a newbie, like myself, how official CM is different than unoffical.
Does it mean that offical CM fixes are automatically generated for Blaze every night? Is there a different place to grab these updates, than here in the Blaze Development forum.

Yeah, CM official will be generated on their servers (which are some serious kit) vs. the 4.5 hours builds required of my home machine.
The nightlies (in theory) should begin tonight, I'll update the main thread once it's all officially there.
I've been working closely with the devs in CM to get all this committed, therefore the next nightly should be just like my 10/09 build + my BLN fix + changes within CM from 10/09-10/12 (which in theory will be the first nightly). And then every nightly after that will get the CM updates moving forward.
With CM10 being official, it might not be too far of a jump to also add official CM9 builds. The device definition is mostly the same, just a matter of different binary blobs for the video. I'll have to talk to the guys about that.
The majority of the work I did was in porting the kernel changes into the main kernel repo. This is also going to benefit the CM9 build as erikmm asked for a copy of my patches. It means he'll get my WiFi random MAC bug (until I fix it), but other stuff should work... better?

We'll get an M in a Month, the M3 (hopefully about the same time I place my order for an M3 ). They specifically held the kernel patches back so they could roll out the M release first. And they did this understandably. The patches I did could have seriously affected a few other builds (T989, I727, I717), etc... So they waited till after the monthly to add the kernel patches and add us to the device tree. CM had been in a soft freeze mostly for the last week.

Does that have any impact on the devs working on CM10 for our device? Or is that just cool, some other devices have stable CM10.
Seriously?(sarcasm)
Different devices have different source code which wouldn't really help our devs get a stable build if CM10. Right now our device doesn't have stability for jb, but I would expect it in the future. If we are to get a really good stable job ROM, we need our source code to be released.
If I helped you, push the thanks button for goodness sakes!
I've got ZERO expectations on us getting a fully working CM10 or later variant for our phone. I've resigned myself to the fact that CM7.2 is about as good as my phone is ever going to get.
I think we eventually will get it but at this point I don't expect anything.
Hopefully Tonyp will port the Stock ICS ROM from the O2x and Arcee will finally give us CM10. Rumor has it he is just trying to make it stable before bringing it here, but for all we know he's probably having trouble porting it over.
Anyone know how much smoother and faster CM10 is with the actual HW accelerations? I'm on the Paranoid Jellybean Hackfest and I honestly don't see much difference in fluidity than on my Galaxy S Blaze Running a full functioning CM10. We only have a few bugs, and not even the worst ones like random reboots or audio noise which some are experiencing with a full ROM.

I've got ZERO expectations on us getting a fully working CM10 or later variant for our phone. I've resigned myself to the fact that CM7.2 is about as good as my phone is ever going to get.

Pretty much what he said. Or we'll get it mid next year. I'm done expecting that we'll get it. This phone is still awesome with cm7, and I'll probably have moved on to a different device anyway next year ;p.
I made this for myself learning how to build roms. And now i want to share it. You all know the deal by now. I don't feel like making a pretty post. My first working rom so no guarantee. This is the latest pacman rom so all credit goes to them i just made from their source. Happy Flashing

Ill update every 1-2 weeks if anyone likes. Also if anyone wants to make the post look nice and some cool boot animation that would be cool too. Just talk to me.
Lol I own pac-man official developer and maintainer I wont get mad as they are still upgrading to 4.3 but when they finish you must remove your thread I am glad you learned to build. I also own domination as we are merging together I will keep my pac thread
thanks for sharing this, it's running pretty smoothly.
just out curiosity, do you have the same problem with low free ram with this rom? i love some PAC but i'm starting to think the epic doesn't have enough ram to run it.
as much as i love some 4.3, i'm back to this so i can have more reliable data switching and mms. have you made anymore builds of this rom?

that would be cool. i managed to get mms going once i set up the proper apns but 3g wouldn't stay connected long enough for anything to download. i've run a bunch of the 4.3 nightlies but my battery dropped like a stone with all the data toggling.

Yeah that's on cm and my behalf. I didn't update your source and cm didn't merge bbelos commit that keeps data from jumping on/off
