[ROM][4.2.2] PAC-man M1 RC1 08/02/13 - Epic 4G Android Development

I made this for myself learning how to build roms. And now i want to share it. You all know the deal by now. I don't feel like making a pretty post. My first working rom so no guarantee. This is the latest pacman rom so all credit goes to them i just made from their source. Happy Flashing
http://d-h.st/W1j
Ill update every 1-2 weeks if anyone likes. Also if anyone wants to make the post look nice and some cool boot animation that would be cool too. Just talk to me.

Lol I own pac-man official developer and maintainer I wont get mad as they are still upgrading to 4.3 but when they finish you must remove your thread I am glad you learned to build. I also own domination as we are merging together I will keep my pac thread

thanks for sharing this, it's running pretty smoothly.

just out curiosity, do you have the same problem with low free ram with this rom? i love some PAC but i'm starting to think the epic doesn't have enough ram to run it.

as much as i love some 4.3, i'm back to this so i can have more reliable data switching and mms. have you made anymore builds of this rom?

I will fix data to make it work like on cm10.2 and ram is fixed I will fix you guys source soon. You might want to try 4.3 when I finish

that would be cool. i managed to get mms going once i set up the proper apns but 3g wouldn't stay connected long enough for anything to download. i've run a bunch of the 4.3 nightlies but my battery dropped like a stone with all the data toggling.

We're official!!! CM10 Nightlies, here we come :)

Seems my hard work has finally paid off!
https://plus.google.com/+CyanogenMod/posts/TKJdwcptRRv
I'll update my thread accordingly once the nightlies begin. Since it'll be a couple of days before the nightlies actually begin, I'll run another build in the mean time. Partly because I want to make sure the CM repo will produce good builds
Yay!
Bugs that still exist: touchkey w/ BLN that they're using is just an interim driver... I need to finish porting that. Also, the random WIFI MAC bug. Ugh.
Oh! And there's a work around for users of the official CWM in ROM Manager. Until once the new builds kick in, you should be able to install them through the official CWM, which will allow CWM to update and correct their problem. This is some serious catch 22 stuff. But it'll get worked out.
Otherwise, you people should be able to start enjoying some nightly CM goodness.
I can then go on to finish the I577 port and get them on their way as well...

First, you got ICS update from T-Mobile.
Now, official CM10 is going to be available for your device.

Congrats! This is awesome news for both Blaze and Exhilarate owners. Thanks to everyone involved for all the work put into getting us this far this fast. I'm really starting to feel good about picking this phone over the S2.
Well done. Thank you for your support.

Hell yeah! In a couple of weeks we went from doubting whether we'd ever see ICS on our phones to official CM10 support.
Seems I've lucked out with the purchase of my last two phones thanks to the awesomeness of the folks here on XDA. A couple years ago the HD2 was the most powerful subsidized phone available from T-Mobile (Nexus One was probably the best phone but couldn't afford to buy it in full). I reluctantly bought the HD2 but wanted Android OS so bad. About a month later devs ported a stable rom over via SD card and then made it NAND flash-able.
A couple months ago I was due for an upgrade again. I had to buy two phones (my wife's MyTouch 3G just wasn't cutting it for her) so I was again on a limited budget. When I looked at the specs I chose the Blaze since it seemed like the most powerful phone for the money. I was again bummed because it was running an older OS version than my two year old WinMo phone but now here we are!
:good::victory:
Could someone explain to a newbie, like myself, how official CM is different than unoffical.
Does it mean that offical CM fixes are automatically generated for Blaze every night? Is there a different place to grab these updates, than here in the Blaze Development forum.

Yeah, CM official will be generated on their servers (which are some serious kit) vs. the 4.5 hours builds required of my home machine.
The nightlies (in theory) should begin tonight, I'll update the main thread once it's all officially there.
I've been working closely with the devs in CM to get all this committed, therefore the next nightly should be just like my 10/09 build + my BLN fix + changes within CM from 10/09-10/12 (which in theory will be the first nightly). And then every nightly after that will get the CM updates moving forward.
With CM10 being official, it might not be too far of a jump to also add official CM9 builds. The device definition is mostly the same, just a matter of different binary blobs for the video. I'll have to talk to the guys about that.
The majority of the work I did was in porting the kernel changes into the main kernel repo. This is also going to benefit the CM9 build as erikmm asked for a copy of my patches. It means he'll get my WiFi random MAC bug (until I fix it), but other stuff should work... better?

We'll get an M in a Month, the M3 (hopefully about the same time I place my order for an M3 ). They specifically held the kernel patches back so they could roll out the M release first. And they did this understandably. The patches I did could have seriously affected a few other builds (T989, I727, I717), etc... So they waited till after the monthly to add the kernel patches and add us to the device tree. CM had been in a soft freeze mostly for the last week.

[Q] Stability of CM10?

I was running CM10 back in the day when it was not yet officially hosted by the CM team and I I went back to stock since there were a couple issues with the video recorder and other things. I see now that CM10 is officially being hosted by the CM team but they are still nightly, but I still would like to give it another go around. I was just wondering if there what are the major issues with the ROM right now (if any)?
The first posts don't really tell much except "it's a major work in progress" and the official change log might as well be gibberish to me, and I'm definitely not about to go through all 500+ pages, so if someone would give me a brief summary of what is/isn't working it would be much appreciated!

Its definitely daily driver ready. Just some wake locks making it not have as good battery life as sense. But everything else works great. The build bot has been broken since 10/12 so when the next official nightly comes out, it should have a bunch of new things... Maybe new kernel?

Sweet, I might just have to flash it again since I usually have a charger handy with me so battery life isn't a huge a concern. I'm sort of confused by what you mean about the next official nightly... I thought nightlys were released every... well night?

The night lies have been down because some changes were made to the code upstream that causes the Evita build to fail. They're working on the kernel fixes to get the night lies to compile again but apparently its very involved.

my wifi doesn't crap out on the experimental nightly which was my only issue with 10/12
One should always read at min the last 10 pages of a thread of a Rom you might flash, an really it's expected of anyone.

I'm on straight talk, and man im getting slow speeds, nothing changed to APN, i think its a radio problem. anyone got any suggestions? I attached the radio link, which radio should i flash?

[ROM] Pure AOSP Evervolv JellyBean 4.2.2

This definitely has a long way to go...

It's up guys! I got touch fixed, but holy cow there's some slowness issues. I think it's related to vsync, there's a lot of errors about it.

Hey folks,
Finally building a little more cleanly... just adding proprietary stuff now.
Not much more to report, nothing new uploaded yet... I hope to at least sort out the awful slowness so the system is at least functional. Then wifi will probably be next, and RIL I will probably need some help with. I have a feeling that is going to be tricky, especially with this phone...
Not a Programmer by any means but if your talking things that are easily explained to a linux junkie, I'll do anything to see a custom rom take off for this phone

Anyone is welcome to pickup the cause
I might take another crack at it, but without cell phone service it's kinda disappointing.
The Jelly Bean soak test has been leaked ... so one would assume an official OTA is on the way. Will that help us as far as getting this more solid, or would we still have CDMA issues due to it being CM10 based? I'm not familiar with the dev work behind the scenes at all, but curious to know what's possible on the horizon.
This is not a request for an ETA ... I know people are doing this in their spare time. Just wondering if this is more or less a lost cause at this point ...

Build updates

I am going to try to continue to release build updates for beanstalk. Whether I stick with dao kernel or try my own or try out djl if given permission. I am messing with slimsaber I'll get those going nightly too once I get a build up. I'll be updating URLs here once I get things all okayed. I believe I am still going to up my beanstalk builds to testing dev dir on dao goo.im and will do google drive just in case. Johnadelic has a new host he has found which seems reliable. I need to ask him about a few things with it first. I should have beanstalk 29 and 30 before midnight on here. I recompiled the niltmt kernel with make mrproper and have yet to see if it helps any. Shortly I will make a thread over in development since it is development. Thanks ppl. There are more then 1 left right ?

I, for one, appreciate the fact that you are continuing to work on this phone. I've mentioned this in previous posts, but my wife, daughter, and I have all decided to keep this phone. It certainly meets our needs and since we have had them for more than 2 years, our monthly T-Mobile bill has dropped considerably. I'm currently running the 20131231 version of Beanstalk and am having no problems at all. What, if any, improvements might I experience by flashing a later build?
I know it was mentioned before that "there wasn't much interest in this phone" , but going by the d/l counts on Daos goo, there is quite a lot of ppl at least grabbing it, so I am hoping that there will still be some folks willing to keep up their fine work here.
thanks

I think you will be happy with kitkat. Some cool new features on this revision beanstalk...
Pull notification shade down tap the upper right tile so it show the blocks of shortcuts. Tap it again and hold it will show them as still with an add button at bottom. Click that. Scroll down and add on the go. You will see what that feature is. Quick record i add as well as sync. I walk a lot and am always lookin down at my phone so seeing through the camera was just a cool feature they added. These guys think of evwrything. The contextual feature is sweet. As well as touch reminder.
Also in beanstalk options theres a backup section where u can backup system/user apps. Its really neat and different in the fact that even if u factory reset and wipe everything and reinstall new beanstalk u can restore the apps and data still. Very cool titaniumish. I tested with another phone by downloading the same file at the same time. While my lowered to 40.0 kbs the other was at 300 kbs. is taking longer than usual to load even leaving him standing. I'm thinking that might be the problem because the kernel also occurs slimsaber these problems.is this friend I have helped on something. I enjoyed the very rapid and complete rom .. Thanks!!

Thanks for the report. There is a new build for may 6th up in the Testing_dev_inimeg81 dir. My download counters got reset Anyway, wifi is the same on every kk rom, no difference. if you want to make it a tint faster, change wifi scan delay to 180, it's set at 300 by default on beanstalk in settings. different servers at different times (such as goo) are just going slower at certain times. Also router config (try putting on QoS control for wifi and make your wifi mac as high demand for qos filtering. it's supposed to make your nic get the priority of traffic, but it actually slows this down on average 9x fold. So, the only way to really make wifi better, is to go back to gb. even then there's not much difference. this kernel is the same but different then slimsaber, it doesnt update because dao closed the source for that. when i repo sync i cant sync part of kernel and device tree. So being that the build even builds, im surprised. I think Slimsaber is quite almost perfect. slim faster arm optimized. just the right things no more no less. Beanstalk is just, one of the fastest roms if not the fastest besides maybe omniroms. more features then any rom i know of. sometimes it can be overwhelming but i love it. when you use art on slim or beanstalk the battery while screen is off is drastically better. while on its same or more. put your phone as hotspot... have your friend connect via wifi... ask him if its slow then lol . seriously though, im sure the wifi was due to other conditions, bandwidth conditions. I'm gonna open a beanstalk thread in dev, only 6 d/l in 3 days.

Source build CarbonROM testers

If anyone would like to test a source built CarbonROM PM me and I'll send you a link. Everything that I use seems to work but I don't use all the features in the phone (like bluetooth, HDMI, etc). It uses altered's kernel from CM11.
I suppose I probably should have used a few more words...
I was originally working on Omni but have curbed that one until I can get it to boot properly. Omni has proven tricky for reasons I have not figured out yet (although Uzayr gave me some ideas to try so I'll probably return to that one when I get time). I didn't want to give up on building a ROM so I gave Carbon a shot. At the time I started there was no recent Carbon ROM for our phone so it sounded like a good idea. I built it and was testing it when A2EPT released their port. So I contacted them and we decided to host this ROM along with the port.
Like I said before, everything is working for me. I've ran it on System 3 and am currently running it on System 1. Battery life seems on par with everything else (I suppose it should). I always have worse battery life than what a lot of people report but I think it's due to my battery. It's nice and smooth and has been trouble free. It has a ton of features like active display (my favorite), configurable progress bars, toast animations, listview styles (so when you scroll you can make it display in a fancy way, like Mokee).
I should also give thanks to Altered for his guidance, the guy is basically a saint. Hopefully he's having fun not thinking about Android for a while!
give me the link. ... I'll test it...

I'm a little slow getting this out because I started running to build errors since the last repo sync. I think Carbon is in the middle of updating to 4.4.3. I'll give-er a few days and try it again...
What did I miss here?

Whoa, another builder is among us haha!:highfive: Thanks very much dm for building the Carbon from source, you saved my team the trouble of doing that, though you need to get into contact with @Uzayr sometime in the near future.
It's true that since March, the DU, Beergang and Omni roms haven't been booting with the MO4 device repo for some reason, we don't know. Now that we know you're building roms, we can let you know what's going on behind the scenes in case you haven't been checking out the dev section a lot lately. More on that later, but for now you're contribution is definitely adding more to our growing KK rom list, much appreciated!

No problem! I started into this just to see if I could do it, and to learn a little. After got Carbon working I touched base with Uzayr and atrix2man about it since they had the Carbon port. We'll sort something out once I get it to build again. It appears that the Carbon team is in the process of moving to 4.4.3. Hopefully it will still build once they are done! If not it might be more delay...
