[Q] how to push a zip to twrp??? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

currently there is no os on my wifi xoom, when turn on xoom stuck on the motorola logo. when i turn it off it will restart by itself. i can get into recovery twrp, looks like i can see some files on sd card, so it is not corrupted.
how do i push a rom to my sd card or internal storage? tried adb sideload on the recovery, but doesnt seem to work, show error: device not found.
found the solution, it was so easy.

How'd you solve it?

Flash a ROM and a Gapps?
LOL

Probably adb push.

Manually flash cwm

If I wanted to manually flash cwm instead of using rom manager, how would I go about it?
I have a version of cwm on my phone that I don't want and want to flash a different version but not with rom manager, I don't want to choose one from that list. I have another one id like to flash I just don't know how.
I was thinking go into cwm and use the "flash update.zip" I think that's how you do it, but I am unable to flash anything from the external card because it wont mount because I have an incompatible version of cwm installed.
Anyway to flash from the internal storage?

Out of curiosity, what version of cwr that's not on rom managers list are you so interested in flashing, and why?

Just in case anyone stumbles across this in the future, I was able to get it worlkng by formatting my sd card. It was the only thing I could do to get CWM to recognize the card.

While your post back is appreciated, I still haven't quite figured out what you were trying to do in the first place. Or why.

I thought the card wouldn't mount because I was using the wrong version of CWM. I tried the version of CWM that was pre loaded with rom manager and it didn't work either. I had another one I wanted to force flash and try it. Turns out the card just needed to be formatted and CWM was able to mount it.

Gotcha. I was just giving you a hard time, anyways.
I thought you were trying to install some prehistoric cwr version 1.0 because it had some secret feature unavailable in the newer models.
yes。wish it nice
I am curious if you're loading 7.1 r1 or not

If you're rooted/custom recovery.
Just boot into recovery and mount SD card.
Then connect to computer and put a new rom.zip on your phone.
Flash with recovery.
You're good to go.

What recovery are you using? At one time if I remember a certain version of Clockwork had this issue. I may be wrong. Try a different rrecovery
I personally use 2.20 TWRP. I can mount SD card just fine.

I can't bro. I didn't tell you to flash the RUU. I'm sure yyou need to flash the TWRP 2.2.0 recovery. And try to flash a rom.
What recovery are you on?

Adb push works like this: adb push filename.zip /sdcard/
The command you tried tells adb to copy a file named rom.zip from fastboot folder on your PC to your SD card and rename it to that trickdroid filename. Guess you don't have a file called rom.zip there so adjust the command accordingly
So what's better twrp or cwm

yea I did that once.....
And had the same problem as you.
What's happening is that when you are installing a ROM, the ROM checks for a file in the SD card that tells it if the ROM is compatible for the device, when you formatted the SD card, the file is wiped as well, now the when the ROM tries to find the file, it can't find it and consequently it aborts installation as a safety precaution

well when it happened, I went into the rom's build.prop file and deleted the code that checks for compatibility.

[Q] How to flash ROM without working ADB

Hello
My HTC J Butterfly is currently in a state where I cannot use ADB (cannot install USB drivers):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417098
Is there any way to install ROM without working ADB/USB ?
Of course if there is a way to fix the ADB/USB that would obviously help as well.
Thanks
Download the ROM on to your phone and install, that's if you have a working recovery.
Another way is OTA

Unfortunately I cannot download anything to the phone, because there is no ROM.
Bootloader and recovery are working fine.
Any other ideas ?
Thanks

[Q] Help! Phone not recognized in recovery by PC

Okays guys so my friend is having some issues, I can't solve it so I figured I would go ahead and ask you. When he plugs in his phone while in recovery to mount the sd card, nothing shows up on his computer. When trying to flash a custom rom or backup of a rom, it gives error status 7. I do not know what is wrong with it, and can not seem to find out how to fix it. I have spent the past hour or so browsing the forums after he did trying to find a resolve to the issue with no avail. If you can help me in any way it would be greatly appreciated.
What version of recovery are you using? Sounds like the SD card is corrupt from doing a factory reset in bootloader.

He is running TWRP 2.1.6, he does all of his wipes in recovery none in bootloader.
Edit: It even shows up in device manager, as a regular device. No exclamation point or anything. ADB even recognizes it in recovery mode.

Attempting this right, he said that he flashed the newest one but he didn't. Thanks for the input this might just be a user error on his end.
