I clean flashed a ROM and since I have only a G in data up in the status bar. It goes in and out with no data. I have tried just about everything I know. I restored to previous ROM. Pulled battery and sim. Changed APN to default (which actually gave me a 3G in status bar but short lived). Any help would be grateful. I googled and have searched forums all over to find no direct solution. Thanks. Only been on android for about 3 months so it may be a simple fix.

Maybe a modem problem? Dig around, you can install different modems in cwm. Talk to who made your rom. They might have a better answer.

Would it be that even though I revert back to cm10.1 and still no data?

You can always give it a try, there's a video on here about it and what he describes sounds similar to your issue.

Thanks. I sent ROM maker a message and I will check the link out. Stuck with only WiFi until then.

That sucks man. Hope he's got a better answer for you. I assumed you already checked your settings, I know I have an option to turn data off.

I started to receive these about a month ago. I've searched the forums but found nothing. Any thoughts?

I remember hearing about phone scandals like this. Sometimes, they charge you a ridiculous fee for random things like that. Contact your service provider and ask them if you've gotten any weird charges to your account recently, and make sure that you compare your phone bill with that of earlier bills (before you got the strange texts).
Also, have you been flashing ROM's lately. I think it might be related to flashing ICS ROM's.
Or it could have something to do with the carrier. Do you have an HTC Evo 4g?
Here's a link to a "sms watchdog" website that might give you more info on your problem.

Thanks all. I'll check with my carrier (sprint) . On a side note, this is the first Android phone that I have not rooted yet.

I got a text saying if I wanted to have news every day, I ignored it but when I saw my phone bill there was a charge of $2.99 contacted sprint they removed that charge and blocked the texts

Just finished basically porting and re-writing some coding from galaxy nexus' 4.1.1 ROM to my Razr, and rooted it. I have a screenshot before porting status bar from GN(

) and after, (cant post yet[taptalk wont allow]) The "about phone" section does have all the info of the Galaxy Nexus because I didn't know how to get it to be compatible any other way, plus the status bar went along with it. I haven't seen any other razr running 4.1.1 so i feel sort of accomplished
Edit: Will upload other pic(about) after xda will allow me to use taptalk host
Edit II: Feedback please?

Try fixing permissions.......works for me when it hangs up like that.
I just tried that, still nothing.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
Have you tried decreasing the message size? I had it too high and they wouldn't send. 1mb seems to be ideal.

Then maybe factory reset and re-flash......other than that, no idea.
Yeah i had a feeling that would be the end result (re-flashing) I'm just lazy and don't feel like doing it lol.

Oh its not the mms size either, because I can't even receive them.

Are you able to use your data correctly on 4G not wifi? MMS travels thru data, I don't know if you are on att, but if you are, i would suggest you make sure your APN settings are correct (by AT&T's standard), and call them to cancel you registration (resetting yourself on the network).
but if all else fails, then obviously reflash
I had the same issue with this ROM the first day after flashing it. It had some data connectivity issues which caused it, but they seemed to have resolved themselves.
Hello,
Does anyone know how to enable shutdown animations on the Nexus 5? I already googled for it a plenty of time and found guides for other phones but none of them worked for me.
Yet, I know there's not really a point to enable it, as there isn't a noticeable delay when turning off the phone, but I'd found it funny to always see this:

Edit: I run the Paranoid Android beta 4 if that helps finding a solution
Why don't you try looking at the files for PACrom as they use those. There isn't an official one for the nexus 5 yet but I'm sure you can look an the Nexus 4's ROM files.

I am not pretty experienced yet, so how would it help me looking at the Nexus 4's rom files? Or how do I even look at them? Just download the ROM and extract the files in it?
Not quite sure but on an older phone of mine it has shutdown animations and was run by a file named powerdownanimation in /system/bin

That means that no one has figured out how to do this on the Nexus 5 so far?
Don't think anyone has really thought about it. Haha.

This is my APN settings page. I have T-Mobile but the APN always defaults to the METROPCS one. It works fine but I have slower speeds and less LTE availability than when I manually switch to the T-Mobile one... I'm on Paranoid Android. My mom's nexus 5 is still stock and has only the T-Mobile one, but my dad's phone, running Cyanogenmod 11 Installer Edition has the MetroPCS one... Why is it there only in the custom ROMs? And how do I set the T-Mobile one as default?
Thanks!

Remove the APN and it won't set it to it.
Is there anything to worry about if I delete the MetroPCS APN?

There shouldn't be, unless you're actually using MetroPCS.
