I started to receive these about a month ago. I've searched the forums but found nothing. Any thoughts?

I remember hearing about phone scandals like this. Sometimes, they charge you a ridiculous fee for random things like that. Contact your service provider and ask them if you've gotten any weird charges to your account recently, and make sure that you compare your phone bill with that of earlier bills (before you got the strange texts).
Also, have you been flashing ROM's lately. I think it might be related to flashing ICS ROM's.
Or it could have something to do with the carrier. Do you have an HTC Evo 4g?
Here's a link to a "sms watchdog" website that might give you more info on your problem.

Thanks all. I'll check with my carrier (sprint) . On a side note, this is the first Android phone that I have not rooted yet.

I got a text saying if I wanted to have news every day, I ignored it but when I saw my phone bill there was a charge of $2.99 contacted sprint they removed that charge and blocked the texts

Disconnect and connect the cable from the phone while this screen is up. Does the trick unless your device can't be activated for some reason.

You need to connect it to itunes to activate the phone, are you using ATT ? My guess is no cause they didn't activate it at the store ?

2 examples of serious banding that just started today. It is driving me crazy. Any help/thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Also, just noticed this banding/flashing as I go through screens.
Will try and posts video of the flashing.
Hmmm... Virus? Malware?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I suspect virus.
I say malware.
Personally, I think you two are wrong,
I think they are failing screens,
http://www.mrcellphoneunlocker.com/V2/content.php?c=repairs
that guy can fix them for about $120 all said and done (tell him i sent you )
The guy at
http://www.mrcellphoneunlocker.com/V....php?c=repairs
is awesome. I've seen him work miracles.
My money is on a virus that caused malware....buuuuuut.....you should maybe replace the screen and they will both be eliminated!
Seriously? Screen replacement? I am under replacement warranty. If that is what is needed, I will be calling for a new refurb. Do not want that. Seriously, just the though of setting this phone up again makes me wish for the bad old blackberry days when I could just drag a backup of my entire phone to a new handset.
Appreciate the input, and am running some antivirus stuff now. Hoping that does it. Hard reset?

Factory reset, no help at all.
Calling for a replacement phone.
This bites.
Did you do a nandroid? If so, you can easily restore your setup and apps.
I can log in to amazon.com but when I try to log in to the Appstore all I get is an error, pictured here :

No matter what I do, it gives that error. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail. Is anyone else having this problem?
I had a different issue. It kept wanting me to add credits to my gift card to purchase free apps. It wouldn't let me dl anything. Idk how i got it back to working condition but it works now.

I had the same issue, and found the solution. All you have to do is go to amazon web, login to your account and delete some registered devices that you don't use but logged in in the past. Amazon has a limit on registered diveces on account. Hope this helps.

Actually that was the solution. I ended up calling them up and we for it sorted out. It really should be easier to find on the website, and the warnings should have better wording.

I've searched the play store, but am still finding it difficult to find the app I'm looking for.
I used to have an app back on the Touch Pro 2 called Power SMS that allowed me to see how often I texted someone, how many texts have been sent during a certain time frame, which day of the week I get most texts.. and stuff like that.
Here's a screenshot I was able to find

Have you tried Friday? It might have what you are looking for.

Hmm, that app seems to be more of a timeline kinda deal, not really what I was looking for.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
There might be some features like what you want in a SMS app like Chomp or Handcent.

I used to have an app like these that showed texts and calls by day and could even break them down by hours. Ill look through some of my old backups and see if I can find it.

Well now I know who I apparently call way to much. It is someone else's girlfriend. Lol woops?
I don't even remember talking to her on the phone anytime recently.

Since installing Cm10 yesterday I've been getting a message from this number every two and a half hours. Message is VZWNMN 1 or 2. Guessing its from Verizon and maybe the mn strands for Minnesota since that's where I am. Anyone know how to stop this?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Common issue. Login to your Verizon account online and delete your email from backup assistant. They will stop.

Apologies for necro-ing this thread, but I flashed from stock to CM 10.1, 3 days ago, and ever since I've been getting these texts from 6250: 'VZWNMN:n' (where n == {0-5}). Before I flashed, I made sure backup assistant+ was disabled on my phone, and I also went into my account 2 days ago and removed what is now called "Backup Plus for Media / Verizon Cloud", but it didn't make a difference:

The only remaining, possibly related setting I could find was for "email account setup", which I have just now removed:
I'll follow up to let you know whether this helps; meanwhile, comments are welcomed.
It looks like the "email account setup" feature was indeed the one that needed to be disabled: I haven't gotten another text from '6250' since. Thanks for the lead.
