In my notification it said unknown voicemail number, so I went to call settings and changed the number to my phone number, but I still can't access my voicemail! I am running wicked 2.0z. Any ideas?

Go take it to the AT&T store or call them, they forgot to move your voicemail over to the new device. Same thing happened to me.
1) thats not the first time ATT's goofed a VM access #.
2) Consider having your VM swapped to Google Voice, and using it only for VM, you'll still get most of the features plus text conversion and recording via the Voice app and website.
Use Google Voice instead. It is so much better anyway.

You do not have the proper phone number for your voicemail. This happens to me when I transfer phones around since I always forget to put the proper number on my sim card

If you came from a device with visual voicemail, you'll have to call customer care to get it switched back to basic voicemail.
Well, that, or use Google Voice.
My voicemail icon will not go away. I've deleted all my message through tmo visual voicemail then I called my voicemail and the messages were still there so I deleted them again. I've done everything I can think of short a factory reset...

I had the same problem, I did everything as you did.
the one worked for me is to call my number from another phone and add a voicemail then I deleted it. After that the icon was gone.
Under call settings there is a clear voicemail notification

Come on op, Give thanks..........
I have the same problem, and it does it every single time I get voicemail. I know I can just clear the notification, but every time? Is there an actual fix?

I had the same issue a week ago, i asked customer service to reset my mailbox and now it works as it used to. i don't get stuck with voicemail notifications.
i dont use my carriers voicemail. i use google voice as my default. i am not sure why the icon showed up but it said to call my voicemails number so i did. i had 0 voicemails. the system said to send a voicemail press 2 so i did. i entered my tmobile number and sent myself a voicemail. waited about 5minutes for it to sync and then just called the voicemail number again and played and deleted the voicemail i recorded. icon went away and still had google voice as default.

This might sound like a stupid question and I apologize for that but how do I check my verizon voicemail when not on stock rom?
I used to check my voicemail by tapping on "Voicemail" in my contacts (Not Visual Voicemail) but now that I'm not on the stock rom, that particular contact is not there anymore. What can I do?
**Edit: I'm an idiot, solution to this is to dial *86 or save *86 as a contact.
Or you can just dial your own phone number, including the area code.

On Verizon, just dial *86 and save it as a contact called VM.
I have a rooted nexus 5 on stock rom and I am using youmail for voicemail. For some reason I have the icon in the status bar that says I have a voicemail. (not a youmail icon but the regular voicemail icon)
How do I get this to go away?
Are you on Sprint? I could only get rid of mine by using Google Voice to put the VM in my missed call log.

I am on sprint but I use YouMail which is a similar voicemail service to Google voice. YouMail works fine. Calls are being forwarded to it and I am receiving voice mails from it. Still there is a voicemail icon that won't go away

Do you have voicemail feature/service with Sprint? If so call in and delete any voicemails in your inbox. If not then call Sprint and have them enable their voicemail service for your line and have someone call you and leave a voicemail. Then call in and delete it.

I called into sprints voice mail and there are no messages. Still the icon in my status bar will not go away.

Still no resolution. Has anyone had any other ideas or know what causes this icon to stay on here?
