[Q] Verizon 8X GSM Unlocked for Europe? - Windows Phone 8x by HTC

Hello all!
I know that the Verizon 8X is factory unlocked, and is usable on AT&T and T-Mobile in the States, but what about England? I'm going to London in a couple of months and am curious if this device has any of the bands needed for a prepaid SIM in the UK. If so, what prepaid carriers would work?
Thanks!

i use it in china, without much issues, text message kind of weird, you cant just reply to the same person at times, but it is ok when you compose a new message to the person you already has a thread.

[Q] AT&T Fuze in europe

Hi, i friend gave an HTC Fuze (GSM) locked on AT&T.
will i be able to use it in europe if i unlock it?
there is some radio-flashing needed or it will just work with any european Sim after the unlocking process?
Sorry, this may seem a stupid question but i'm new to this world
also:
What is the best way(site) to unlock it? i've already looked into that and i know it is a service that needs to be payed off.
Thanks in advice
Ok, it worked, thanks anyway.
re: FUZE unlock for europe
AT&T unlocked mine for free. Just call and ask. I used my FUZE all over Europe and enjoyed very fast speeds from the local carriers there.

[Q] Getting Nexus S I9020A Unlocked for Any GSM Carrier

When i first purchased my Nexus S from Best Buy for AT&T, I was informed by the sales guy that I could call AT&T and get it unlocked by AT&T for free since Best Buy didn't have unlocked units at the time . I called and AT&T informed me that I would have to wait 90 days from the day of activation to be eligible for an unlocked code for my device. I called 100 days later and I am now being told by the AT&T support rep that AT&T does not offer an unlock code for my particular device . Has anyone encountered a similar problem or knows of a free solution to having the Nexus S GSM version unlocked? Open to any explanation or interpretation.

It's already unlocked. Every Nexus device sold has always been sim unlocked (even those sold subsidized by the carriers).
Thank you! I guess that would explain the 35 minute phone call with AT&T trying to figure out why the phone didn't have an unlock code. At one point during the call i was asked if the manufacturer was really samsung. I told the lady it was a Nexus S and she said that the manufacturer didn't exist. I had to explain it to her but she was very polite.
Haha, its great isn't it! I went as far as to order the unlock code from one of the many online services, which they obviously couldn't generate.
To my delight, tried a foreign similar card when I went on vacation and BLAM!
I threw my sim (telus) in my friends (wind mobile) Nexus s and his was emergency calls only, while mine worked with his sim. Interesting note. After putting the telus card in the wind phone, his phone was unable to receive service again. I had to randomly google a dial code thingy to connect to his mobile network
The Rogers/Bell/Telus/AT&T version of the Nexus S (i9020A) supports different frequency bands than the Wind/Mobilicity/Videotron/T-Mobile version (i9020T). That would explain why you weren't able to exchange SIM cards. Fortunately the upcoming Galaxy Nexus will support all frequency bands in a single phone, so it won't have this problem.

Does T-Mobile work in Canada?

Hey Guys, I'm wondering if any of you have traveled to Canada with your T-Mobile Phone. I personally go to Toronto every year but last year when I went I was with Verizon and my phone did work, this is my first year with T-Mobile and can any of you tell me if T-Mobile works in Canada? Thank you.
I've heard that once I'm in Canada I can switch to the Rogers Network which is GSM via T-Mobile on my phone? Do I need to be Unlocked for that?

Your t-mobile phone will work perfectly fine. But, if you can get the phone unlocked, just pick up a prepaid sim card when you get there. Much much cheaper! Btw, while your up there, any calls that go to voicemail, you pay international roaming, even if you don't pick it up. Just a heads up.

SIM Card unlock?

Hey folks, quick question....I have the SG3 through Verizon, Rooted and Bootloader Unlocked. I've heard that the VZW SG3 has a GSM radio in it, and I'm traveling to Germany, Austria, and possibly Greece in December for a few weeks and would like to know if VZW will unlock my SIM card? I've been with them for 4 years, have 5 lines, always in good standing with them. I asked a Rep in one of their larger stores here in Metro Detroit and he said that he believes that VZW will unlock the SIM but he has no date and suggested that I call VZW before I leave and they will send me a "Loaner World Phone". My brother in Europe also told me that if I get it unlocked he'd give me a T-Mobile SIM card (he's a Store manager for T-Mo in Austria), OR is there a hack available? What about those sites that promise to unlock your SIM card by sending you a code for $34.99? I'd love to take my phone with me, especially because of the Camera....I could leave my camera here at home and use my phone to shoot pics, and my brother and sister-in-law have the SG3 on T-Mo, which would be awesome to do quick share of videos and pics we snap. I have no idea what kind of World-Phone loaner they'd give me.....

I'm heading to Germany in a few weeks and have a co-worker that is there right now. I'd like to have her bring me back a pre-paid SIM (I've read that they are much cheaper if purchased there), but I have no idea which carrier would be best for my situation.
While in Europe I'll be in Germany during the week (meetings and such), but plan to travel to Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands during my weekends. I'd like to be able to send and receive calls to/from German numbers and a small amount of data would be nice for navigation (maybe 250-500MB for the 2.5 weeks that I'll be there.
Any recommendations?

[Q] Verizon M8 for Europe Backpacking Trip/European SIMs

About to be backpacking and traveling around Europe.
Option 1: I have a rooted Verizon HTC One M8. Thinking of doing a Three - UK Simcard over there as it's very cost effective and they even have an unlimited data plan add on pack for 15 euros. I know that most recent Verizon smartphones are sim unlocked. Would my 4G work with most prepaid SIM cards including Three's sim card? I'm a little confused as to how it works and I'm worried that, yes my Verizon HTC one would work, but would I get 4G signal or is it mostly 3G signal? I'm assuming I keep my Verizon plan but just suspend my Verizon account while I'm abroad?
Option 2: Buy an Unlocked Used Galaxy S5 for a couple hundred bucks and include whatever SIM I choose in Europe, suspend Verizon and Keep HTC in the states, reactivate when back.
Option 3: Buy a OnePlus tomorrow for around the same as a GS5 and include whatever SIM I choose in Europe, suspend Verizon and Keep HTC in the states, reactivate when back.
Option 4: Buy a BLU Vivo Air Smartphone on Amazon and include whatever SIM I choose in Europe, suspend Verizon and Keep HTC in the states, reactivate when back.
Thoughts or advice from anyone who's been to Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy) with a Verizon HTC One?
Thanks!
I honestly don't know a 100% answer as I've never done that, but since your HTC is unlocked, and removable SIM, couldn't you just suspend Verizon, get a 4g SIM when you're over there, pop it in your M8, and go about your trip then just reactivate VZW when back?
Sounds like that's what you'd be doing anyways if you were to buy an extra phone to do that exact same thing anyways.
Or are you worried about losing/ breaking it over there then having nothing? If that's the case, I would get a cheap used one from somewhere, use that over there and then just leave the M8 there. Just my $.02.
Recently just asked this, Im going to get a cheap sim when I am over there and hope it works.

I'm going to start in Germany (berlin) and hoping to travel around Switzerland, Austria, and Italy...Thinking I'd go with Three's service from the UK for the unlimited data (which doesnt work in Germany, but almost everywhere else) and I'd get a sim for my time in germany or just use wifi.
Also, do I need to do anything special with Verizon for unlocking (other than suspend my line for the time I'm abroad)? I mean do I need to pay them to unlock the sim or anything? I've read that most recent verizon phones are sim unlocked and global ready... Just wondering if i'm missing something...
Curious to hear what you decide on or if you have any other thoughts.

You don't need to do anything with Verizon. The phone is SIM unlocked out of the box. You'd just need to add the correct APN settings.
