[Q] [JB#2]Overclock and phone number recognition problems - Motorola Atrix 2

I recently flashed JB to my atrix 2 and i have the following problems :
1. Whenever I receive a text message, the app adds a prefix to the number (+40 in my case) and it won't recognize the person's name because they appear in my contact list without the +40 in front. How can I stop it from adding that to the number?
2. I tried overclocking using this method, but it won't do anything. I have a 1.0 GHz device (sadly) and i tried both 1.1 and 1.2, but they don't do anything. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
I also have a problem with the GPS, but I don't think there is a solution to this one, as i noticed that i'm not the only one.

1. Here's the problem. I already disabled Assisted Dialing and it worked for calls, but did nothing for texts. I have no idea why.
2. In the meantime, i found that post myself and it worked. Thanks !

Thats weird.. its working fine for me with text messages too.. Try a cache and dalvik cache wipe from custom recovery, maybe that'll sort it out..

Just did that. No difference. I'm starting to think that my only chance is to modify all the contacts to that phone number format I also tried with other messaging apps, but still no difference. This is frustrating.

Ok, I mightve found a solution to your problem..
Select Assisted Dialing in Phonebook/Settings/Assited Dialing and then Select your country code, this will automatically add the country code to all numbers (i think) and sort your problem.. Hope this works :good:

That also did nothing. I think there's no way to fix this but changing the numbers manually. Is there some software from motorola with which i can do this from the computer?
Also, thanks alot for trying to help me.

Do you have contacts database on your SIM Card?
-- If the answer is: yes - you sync these contacts with your google acount, and then erase the sim contacts, reboot, set your gogle account as defoult in People --> Menu --> Contacts to display. It's work for me.
-- If the answer: No. I dont have any idea.

Just thought this would be a good idea for all of us having voicemail problems.
Post solutions and comments on developing a fix here instead of clogging up the cyanogen thread.
PS the spiicytuna method posted on page one of cyanogen does nothing to fix the 9016 issue.

Call the number included in the text you get. It will ask you if you have a sms voivemail phone or smth. Press one for no, and you stop getting the texts.

Tried that. You get a new text telling you to call a certain number to retrieve your voice mail.
Blacklist the number?
One way around it
Well. It seems you can go to Sprint and block the text message at the source. Just log into your account and add them to your block list.
Will have a voice mail sent to me and see if it works. I've read in other forums that it can take a month to work.
-JZ
Update: Blocking 9016 did NOT work. My VVM updates, but I still get the annoying texts.
Any suggestions?
im not sure what that 9016 issue is but i do have a voicemail notification issue so i will speak of that
the sms you receve can be avoided while messing with ur settings in google voice online... when u click edit on ur mobile number there are options to uncheck sms notifications as well as transcriptions.. mess with ur settings and that fixes that issue, now onto the annoying one...
the way that i have figured out how to temporarly remove the icon is to flash whatever the latest nightly build is using rom manager and the use the option to wipe and adding the google apps, i then wait for my phone to reboot and let rom manager do its thang then as soon as i put in all my gmail information i wait till the menu starts to pop up then quickly press menu, call settings, voicemail number then change that *86 to my 10 digit phone number then press okay then i quickly change my carrier to google voice then go through all of those settings quickly till i click finish then press okay even though i may get that error that says something like my carrier doesnt support google voice or whatever it is then i go back to the carrier option and even though google voice is already selected i click google voice again and it tells me that my number has changed... no more voicemail notification UNTIL i reboot my phone, so any new fix that maybe come out involving any other issue i choose to ignore if it means that i have to reboot my phone... also a good thing to know is once u have success of finally getting rid of the icon whenever a new build is released just install it using rom manager once again but this time DO NOT select the wipe option and rom manager will install the latest build without the voicemail icon and all ur settings will be good to go right after the install however the same rules still apply, one u reboot it will come back, so after installing the latest build just dont wipe and dont reboot after all is said and done...
even though some tard thinks me mentioning *86 as the issue is me "wasting bandwidth" i feel that that is where the issue is.. this is the only rom that i have to change the carrier settings right off the bat instead of defaulting to our sprint voicemail... im not saying im *****ing about the issue in any way but this is an issue ive been having so i thought i would mention that...
now onto things ive tried that never worked....
ive tried just keeping my sprint number as the default but that never works, my only solution has been changing to google voice quickly...
ive called myself exactly 10 times and left myself voicemail messages, then after installing the latest nightly ive change to my voicemail number to sprints and deleted all 10 msgs and that did nothing...
ive gone into the application settings and deleted the phone data cache then quickly change to google voice without success, even after changing the settings i quickly pulled my battery and then started my phone so that it would default to googlevoice and still nothing...
since rom manager has worked for me as a temp fix ive tried doing all the same stuff using ar recovery doing all wipes and whatever else is possible without success, rom manager is the only one that works for me so i just stick to that...
and for those that say the google voice is too hard to setup its really not, just quit being lazy and do ur initial setup through google.com/voice and get urself a number and play with ur settings in there and when ur done with that then start the tutorial up top
i never had this issue until went from a cm6 nightly to zenfx2.2 to update my prl then I nandroided back and now i get these texts every 5 min
I think you guys should think of using Google Voice... Unless I am misunderstanding something, this is a Sprint VVM problem right?

Problem with google voice is that it sometimes disconnects for no reason. I was using it and had to change because it kept dropping me and people would tell me my voicemail did not work.
I'd be cool with G-Voice if it did not do this.

This is just an educated guess and not a statement of fact, but having run the Fresh ROM in the past, it sounds like at some point you flashed your phone with the Fresh ROM, and then maybe flashed back to CM6 but forgot to wipe everything?
When the Fresh ROM boots up, it does indeed say, "Fresh!", so if you're stuck in a boot loop with that ROM's data, you could hear "Fresh!" repeatedly and your phone not start up.
I would go to recovery, do the full factory reset wipe, wipe cache, dalvik cache, and then do your nand-restore or reflash of CM6, google apps, etc.
I hope that this helps.
Thank you for your time,
I would try to just wipe the dalvik and cache first and only do a factory reset if that doesn't work.

I may try it again, as I did not mind G-Voice. But it had happened a few different times. Now I admit I have not tried it since I went to RC2 and the 8/24 nightly.
I'll try setting it up again and see what happens.

[Q] Saved contacts Coming up as Unknown in Incoming Calls

Hello all, this is the first time I am posting but I have been following the forums for quite a while and haven't found an answer to this particular issue so thought I'd ask here.
I have a One XL on Rogers and have tried both Cleanrom and ViperXL rom and am having the same issue on both... for some reason, some contacts that are saved in my address book (synced via Google), only show the phone number and never the contact name during incoming calls...
, I check the call history and the contacts name and picture show up, but a red question mark is shown and not the number...
It is wierd because some contacts show name/number fine, but others don't.
Interestingly enough, I flashed the Codename Android 3.6.5 Rom also and this is the only one that seems to not have this issue.. I get the name and number during incoming calls.
Has anyone else expereinced such an issue?? I can't memorize peoples numbers thats why I have their names in the contacts address book and its frustrating when only the numbers are showing!
Please keep all question threads in the Q&A section only. Thank you.

You on CWM or TWRP?
CWM has been known to mess up some dialer functions (including ID, if I recall properly), with errors persisting even after flashing other ROMs. Switching from an AOSP ROM to CleanROM was one of the causes; in addition to the fact that CWM should not be used on our device to begin with.
I'm using TWRP.
So i did some more digging around and this problem or a somewhat similar problem was expereicnced on galaxy nexus ics roms which I found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571987&page=3
I am wondering if this issue was ever brought up/addressed on the oneXL... anyone on Rogers running CleanRom or ViperXL having this issue?

I found the issue had to do with the Rogers caller ID for whatever reason in any ROM i flashed (aside from the Codename android JB Rom) conflicting with the contacts in my address book making some of them show up as unknown.
I just called rogers and disabled the name portion of the caller Id and everything works now.

I`ve been having the same problem. A possible fix is listed in the thread.
1) Flash a different radio
2) Click fix permissions
This fixed the problem for me. Not sure if it`s the radio flash or the fix permissions that fixed the unknown callers. I just did both just in case.
I was having this problem almost everytime I flashed a new sense rom. The fix for I found was when you boot for the first time do not setup the google account. skip that part and continue on into the launcher. Once there restore your call log if you do that. Then reboot the phone. When it boots back to your launcher go into settings > accounts and setup your google account. sync. Should work.
Thanks to all those who replied...
Like i mentioned in my last post, it was a rogers issue with their call display feature messing up my saved contacts when they called. I think this is a Rogers/fido specific problem here in Canada. i got it to work by having them remove the name portion of my call display.

Don't know if this is still an issue but I was having the phone (i317M Note 2) just show numbers and not the names on caller id. Just ran Fix Permissions on CWM and caller id now showing names!

"This is a lost phone" message intermittently

My Oneplus gets "This is a lost phone" message intermittently every day with my loud ringtone. It stops when I press the okay button. This is despite me having it in silent mode.
Since this happens only during my office hours, where I have to leave my phone silent always, I am unable to investigate it rather than just press the OK button and it disappears.
I have my device manager activated in the phone. Thought it was previously my Theftie app which was activated, which I deactivated but the message keeps coming on every day.
Any way how to stop this?

next time as soon as the incident happens , can you check which wakelock was running ? Use wakelock detector app from google play.
It would be interesting which application is invoking this event !!
I did download wakelock detector but it says it needs root access since KitKat upgrade. Maybe will root it when time permits.
Meanwhile had another instance of the event, when I received a text from an number not in the Contacts. If I remember correctly, it happened yesterday as well when I received a text from a number not in Contacts list.

Block the text number and uncheck the settings in device manager and change your gmail password. If it still works after a factory reset and make sure you do not restore your software. It sounds like what I do to my son when he does not pick up the phone I make it ring and I do it through device manager because I have his info...

Yes, done all that is possible. Only thing remaining is rooting the phone (i dont want to unlock the bootloader for that thought)
You could try doing a Backup und then a factory reset.

How can I fix my sms?

So I downloaded an app that allowed me to spam sms to someone however upon uninstalling it I have discovered that I no longer can send sms messages from my device. They don't mark them as failed or anything they just never are received on the other end. I imagine that somehow the smsc gateway settings got changed but I can't find out how to view it or change the value.
I don't want to have to factory reset my phone but I will if all else fails. Can anybody help?

I am a little bit confused here. And the app you are talking about somehow was interferred with your original sms app? Look you need sms service and sms app. Perhaps worth extracting from kdz. I might dig those out for you. For example myself, I am using the messanger and services from Marshmallow AICP even on my GF2 and it's working like a charm. The thing is if you haven't srewed the services up, bro.

The smart text select did not work for me even after a factory reset. Upon some pondering I realised that it has never worked from the time I had given my phone to Google for repair and it was returned to me.
I have now flashed the Android P Developer preview and everything works including the smart select.

It's only working for me on 8.0 and Android P developer preview. Doesn't work on any of the 8.1 builds.
