Ever since I rooted I get this asking for permissions. Does anybody know for sure what this is and do I need to grant the permission or deny it?

what do you get asked permissions for?
What is up with the thread title as well?
Please try to use a more descriptive one and try to give as many details as possible in your post so that we can try to answer your questions in the future.

This was discussed in a couple other threads a while back. But I'm actually surprised it doesn't get asked more often.
There was a change to the Android shell, I believe with firmwares 2.4X and later. For some reason it will (incorrectly?) ask for root permission whenever you sign in/out of a WiFi network. You can just deny it, and it won't affect anything. But you will see the root denied notification briefly every once in a while, which is annoying.
It was assumed that newer versions of SuperSU would fix this. Not sure if that ever happened. Opening the SuperSU app and checking for an update might help. Somebody also posted a hacked SuperSU that fixed this problem, or you can try to switch to SU (instead of SuperSU) to see if that helps. The SU used in ViperXL doesn't have this issue.

I just rooted my phone, but I have been unable to load a custom rom. Anytime that I tried to load in clockwork mod I get a black screen. I think I know what the issue is, superuser is foreclosing. It does this with SambaFilesharing and app monster. I updted superuser to the new version but still the same. Any ideas in how to fix this? Yes my phone is root with S-Off.
Please post in the correct section.

Report it and request MOD to move it to General.
Done! Thanks for asking. From now on, search the rooting threads.
I was having problems with superuser force closing on my Inspire as well. I used Rom Manager to fix permissions and haven't had a problem since

this fixed Rom manager and SU issues for me...
My HOX is rooted. I have the app Root Checker and it tells me so. However, I am not able to uninstall any of the At&t bloatware...??? What haven't I done correctly?
Many thanks for all the insight...

You can't uninstall apps in /system through the usual method. You need to use an app like Titanium Backup to do it.
Couple questions:
What firmware are you on?
Do you have superuser or supersu?
If you are rooted there are several ways to get rid of the bloatware.
Let see if we can get this done for you.

I currently have the 1.85 frimware. I do have Superuser installed...
Cool. Titanium backup is the best way as described above. Also exfileexplorer will work if you know what you doing. Make sure if you haven't flashed a recovery to do so. And please please please make a back up in recovery in case deleting something messes your phone up. If you need specific help? Feel free to pm me.

When do you think your phone is offically rooted? Think about components such as recovery, kernal, and ROM. Also consider other things. Just asking for your opinion!

When the super user prompt pops up asking if an app can have root access lol
^Exactly what he said. When you basically attain root permissions. You also need to root to flash roms and kernels. Most roms these days are already pre rooted.

When I can write to the root of my phone. Roms are nice also . But as far as " being rooted" as long as Superuser works I'm rooted!
Is it possible to unroot your phone without going back to the stock rom? My employer started offering wi-fi but only for unrooted devices. Thank you.
There have been miscellaneous discussions regarding hiding root, I would suggest looking into those first.
As well, if there is no software/app needed to be installed on the device there's no way that a wifi connection could detect root. So, how do they plan to find out if you're rooted or not?

They do have something that you have to install in order to use the wi-fi service. I hadn't seen anything about hiding root and will do a search on that. Thank you!

Why does your employer care if you're rooted or not when connecting to their Wi-Fi?

I work for a financial company so everything is extra secure.
I still don't understand why root access to your own device poses a threat so much that your employer doesn't want you connecting to wifi. Either way l, hope someone can help u hide ur super user status or connect to the network anyway

Because companies like that are paranoid and think you may accidently or on purpose give them a virus, or have them. Android is not affected by a Win32 virus, and it may not even be affected by a regular Linux virus (very unlikely but I don't know tons about the ins and outs on that level).

Not sure if hiding su would work. A simple app should be able to determine that you have su binary even without gaining access (IMHO).

Yes it's possible, I have CM9 without root. SuperSu has an option to remove root I think it's just the app and the SU binary not sure. I would assume that they don't want a user rooted because it's very easy to packet sniff if you're rooted and connected to someone's WiFi

Thanks everyone. I found a few things that I am going to try and will let you know if any work!

So I have an update on this. The app that my employer is using for this is AirWatch. I tried using the Temporary Unroot option in Superuser prior to installing it but my phone still came back as non-compliant. I know that the unroot worked though because ROM Manager told me that the phone needed to be unrooted in order for it to work. I am thinking there may be another app on my phone that it is detecting and thus causing it to say it is out of compliance. I am going to keep researching but if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
Chuck
maybe it's detecting any of the apps on your phone that were granted su access....did you deny them SU access before hiding root?
I tried that and also uninstalled a couple of items but still no go. The only apps on the list are superuser itself and titanium backup as I deleted the others.

Can you try a full unroot with super one click and see if that works?
I would have a $500 brick if it weren't for nvflash. Thanks Nvidia!
Thank you again to everyone for your help. We switched to the new plan at T-Mobile and I ended up buying the HTC One. With the offer to trade in my wife's Samsung Exhibit 4G (the I first one) for $100 toward the purchase from HTC I felt it was the right time to upgrade.
I did manage to download the first 16mb "pre-update" but every time I go to check for updates it won't do anything at all. I've tried restarting and even changed between a few apns and nothing helps? Ive seen people having this problem but no solutions. Can anyone help me?

So there's really no simple way to do this. I have the otapkg.zip in my phone but it's only 2.57 kb. Could it be a failed download? I got a message that HTCdm stopped working earlier. Sorry for the noobish question, even after a year on android in not all that familiar.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It doesn't seem all that difficult to me. As long as you're SuperCID and s-off it should be simple. Did you read the whole thread? There's nothing I can really tell you here that hasn't already been said there. Your simplest option is the RUU.
Sent from my Evita
Yea I read pretty much all of it, I'm completely stock so I'm not sure what amount applies. The only reason I was trying to get around manually downloading it is that my horrible internet connection at home which makes it a full day of downloading.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Either way, you're gonna have to download it somehow. The RUU is the easiest way. If you ever want to modify your phone though it must be done before taking this update because the current exploit has been patched in the update. You'll get a much better experience on a custom ROM but that's entirely up to you.

Could be. Delete it and try to check for the update again.
I tried that and deleting the data on the Google services framework too, got nothing. So I guess this weekend I'll do the ruu.
