Flash strength level - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello all,
is there a way to regulate the level (brightness) of the flash for the camera?
Greetings,
Hydra

Aside from the built in presets, I think not.

How good are you at kernel hacking?

So selecting a preset before taking the shot?
But i guess the only presets are on, auto and off?

You got it. Those are the only ones I am aware of for the flash.

you can mess with the build.prop and add
Code:
ro.media.capture.flashIntensity=100
and Im guessing the value is 1-100. Not sure if its gonna do anything for ya or not.

correct me if i'm wrong
but I'm pretty sure the Stock Rogers radio is the same as the 1.73 ATT one.
(stock rogers ROM is 1.73 base, so It should be 1.73 Radio as well.)

It might be a little more effective than a poll, since this is a largely location based issue. (Some radios perform better than others depending on region)
no sure if serious but you put poll ....
Just going to leave this right here...

Yup, "best" radio is usually geographic more than anything. So doing a poll like this, that doesn't take location into account is pretty much meaningless.
And this doesn't belong in Development.

Was your point that it's a redundant thread or that it doesn't belong in DEV? I considered both points, but went ahead and posted since (1) it's a little different from taylor's thread since it's a poll instead of a map and (2) I think it's dev related since radios can be a big issue with some ROMs.
Anyway, some mods want to chime in? If it's inappropriate, go ahead and move it. I'm not trying to clutter up the forum. Just thought it might be useful even though it's not broken down by region. (and the poll's already had several responses, so at least SOME other people seem to agree)
EDIT: dg I tried to thank you to show I'm not just trying to be argumentative - but I already used all my thanks for the day!!
me either, but pointing out the rules of the section. If it has nothing to with development, it should be in general. Think Tanks are fine, people are working on different ideas that eventual lead to root/bl unlock/s-off...
This is just a voting thread about modems, and modem will differ vastly depending on your location, so a popularity contests for modems is useless, you just have to try them and find one that suits your situation.
just my 2 cents.

This is really just a discussion about radios, so it belongs in General. It only belongs in here if its a tool, ROM, radio. Particularly one that you developed. If you are not a developer, you should probably not create new threads here.

Since this is a generalized thread (with poll) about radios, it does belong in the General section. Dont get me wrong though, this is a good idea so that people can quickly glance and see what others are using and then look at the map for their area.
Alright - I'm cool with it moving. Can I move it myself? Or does a MOD have to do it?
EDIT - Well I feel dumb. It had already been moved when I posted that.

Already moved. Red5 is a MOD. Do you wanna pop a link in the OP to my map, too? It would be good to get as much data as possible in there.
With our powers combined, we can actually get some useful info, i think.

I would like some help to create an app

I really am not the sort of person who can make my own apps, regardless of which method I use, but I have some really good ideas I think which should be made. I have tried reading, programs and stuff, it's just not how my brain works...
I need help in order to do some of these.
One in particular should take very little work, I think, All it has to do is override and fix some permissions and be able to adjust them to a few degrees in some cases.
It will help control real estate on your screens and save battery use the widgets normally use up.
This is for customization purposes.

First of all this isn't the section for your query. Secondly, your query isn't related to this section device (HTC Sensation). Thirdly, this query isn't new either, if you had spend lil more time finding on net (instead of writing this post) you would have found answers for what you are looking for already.
Mod, kindly move the thread to appropriate section.
Thanks...

Best combination for battery life?

Hello guys
which combination of rom and kernel scores the best battery life?
It's simple:
Kernel: Usage differs
Rom: Questions Belong in Q&A based on 4.4
Sorry if my answer may be 'cocky' but we've got a special section on XDA for questions and answers.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Use the search feature in xda, there are many tips for battery improvement.
On other hand, i get 5 hours 30mins SOT on wifi and 4 hours SOT on 4G with stock rom and with medium usage.
No matter what you do, flashing diff rom/kernel won't get you any proper battery improvement. Just stick with stock rom and wait for Android L for a better battery performance and usage.
Yes stick with stock..
Battery is nothing to do with ROM and kernel combination. It is to do with ROM and kernel settings.

Read the first 4 posts in the battery thread in my signature.
And as pointed out above....roms/kernels make a very minor, if any difference to battery life.
Setup, usage and signal strength are the main factors. ?

If there was anything that was "best for battery life", wouldn't someone have been able to prove it by now?
I guess it doesn't help with so many claiming their new ROM/kernel has greatly increased their battery time. Subjective opinions with out proper testing shouldn't be taken as fact though.

think about how many people using any kernel/rom claim that its the best for battery. then again, there are just as many people that claim that the certain kernel/rom give them the same battery life. in reality though, its all about you. how you use your device, how you set it up, which apps you use, etc. but there is one variable that you have no control over, thats the quality of your phone/data connection. and that will determine what is the best battery possibility is for you. if your phone/data signal isnt good quality, then your battery life will always suffer, no matter what.
9 times out of 10....it's the flashing the new Rom and or kernel that clears out an undiagnosed battery issue they had and magically their battery life seems awesome on the new Rom or kernel. ?

Yep. Maybe someone(hint hint) should start an "All-in-one Best thread". Since the reversal of XDA policy I would much rather see all this nonsense contained to one singular thread than reposted in different forms every six hours. I would do it but I'm lazy and wouldn't be able to give that thread the attention it deserves. Just some food for thought.

It's been suggested to do that, like the N7 2012 has had for awhile....but the individual threads are still allowed and preferable to one dedicated thread.
That was told to me. Reason is the "best" questions usually come with something else. Not just "best Rom"....usually best for this or that....or comparing this to that.
I like the one thread idea....but it what it is and those resisting it are best to let it go and ignore the threads if that's their choice.
That was also said by moderators.
Just letting everyone know. ?

I asked for some rules. Eg "what ROM has this feature set" = yes, ambiguous best threads = no.
However we probably shouldn't hijack these threads to discuss it.
Everyone with suggestions pm a helpful mod such as @El Daddy and maybe we'll get a compromise, but for now let's just answer the threads with the usual answers

Anyone asking questions like this should stick to stock rom and kernel.
If you can't be bothered to actually use some roms and kernels and tell us what you think how can you evaluate an answer?
Also, obviously you are getting into a touchy area and rejecting anything rom/kernel devs can have to say about it. You want them to come here and battle it out for you?
There is no such thing as best, and many of the custom roms and kernels make a good combo. Look at the rom and kernel threads and decide which gives you the options you want.

[Q] Adaptive Brightness - CM12 YNG1TAS17L

Adaptive brightness is very slow at reacting and at time the brightness is too less as compared to ambient lighting. Any solution/mod/tweak to make it react faster and correct/calibrate brightness ?
The brightness keeps flickeing in dark room.

[Q] Record 1080p60fps instead of 31fps?

As the title suggests...
Is there a way to tweak the files to record at 1080p60fps instead of the 1080p31fps?
Been looking all over and tried doing some digging myself but can't find anything
This is 31fps, looks nice but if we could raise it then it would be a lot better

31? Garbage, yeah how can we make this 60
