So, I went out on a limb, and purchased the tablet from OfficeMax.
Tried to power on, and nothing. I charged it for a half hour, and the charge icon on screen flashed for a second, then nothing.
Office max rep says it won't even boot until after 8 hours of charging. I just think it's unusual, since all my other android devices will at least show the charging icon.
Am I being wazzed? Or do I really have to charge or this long to get an initial response?
I do have the dock, haven't opened it, should I exchange this tablet, or is this normal for Asus?

Main thing is that you confirmed that the device doesn't even boot until after a charge. First android device I've ever had that did that.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Yep. I made the mistake of letting my tablet run completely down until it shut off. I let it sit for awhile before putting it on the charger. All of the devices I've had in the past would boot after being on the charger for a few minutes......well not my tf300t. It had to sit on the charger for a good 45 minutes to an hour before it would reboot.
I was tripping out and thought my tablet had died on me. Lmao. Kinda strange that out of all the devices I've had, only this tablet requires a significant charge before it will boot up. Oh well, it is what it is. At least it booted up.
Just wanted to add that my tablet also booted right up when i took it out of the box. Guess it had a decent charge still on it from the factory.

am i supposed to push it all the way down? i cant post a picture yet becuase i dont have 8 messages. but im talking about the power socket and the one that goes into the usb. thanks
Are you talking about the actual prongs that go into the outlet? If so then yes click it till it goes all the way flush with the adapter.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
For a second I had no idea what you were talking about...but then I remembered thinking the same thing putting it together lol. Yeah, push it all the way down, it'll snap into place.
thanks guys. my device just turned on by itself after i plugged it in. I read the instruction and it said we're supposed to wait 8 hours for it to fully charge before using it? Should I just close it?

I've never followed those completely charge first directions so I'm the wrong person to ask.

never mind while i was typing this question the screen disappeared lol. man im wait 8 hours before i can use this thing. daaaaaaaaaaamn! cant wait! haha just 7 hours and 57 minutes left!
Actually, when I got it out of the package it was like 40% already charged, I plugged it in and started using it right away...
i plug the charger in with the Transformer turned off,
but it turns itself on to charge
is that normal?????
Mine does the same..

it's weird that is has to do that to charge
If shut down after plugging in, it will remain off and still charge.
Every phone and tablet I've ever owned turned on when you plug in the charger. No need to worry.

Mine does the same thing, it is normal. I just have to remember to leave it on, plug it in, and then turn it off when I charge it over night.

Yeah me too. Every phone I've had wouldn't boot up, and the xoom stays off when charging? Also it has an led indicator as well. Not a big deal to be missing that with the tf, but how do you (previous poster) know that it charges after a shut down? I believe you and im sure the battery is indeed charging. Where are your credentials sir? Lol.

Mine does that too. It's kind of annoying.
I always turn off and charge my tablet at night. If I forget and turn my tablet off before I connect the charger, I have to stay there and wait for it to boot up then shut it down again.
NORMAL.
My Nook Color does it, my Archos 101 did it, my Droid X does it.
OK I am having issues charging my phone. Tried 4 different chargers it ain't happening. So called att. They sent me a replacement guess what! It won't charge either. Anybody else have problems with it?

I would first say it was the rom your on since on cm9 if you let the battery die it won't charge really and turn back on but since your got a replacement that shouldn't be the problem. Maybe all of your chargers are broken, and if not then possible the power outlet your plug gig into is fried
I just flashed seans sky 4.2f att speed this morning and have been getting "battery disconnected" errors about 10 seconds after plugging in my phone no matter which charger i use. i.e. My battery wont charge. It was working fine on both chimera 2 and aokp 39 with cymbaline last night so my guess is it's rom related. Going to try flashing a few different things to see if i can fix it with a different Rom/kernel combo.
I do not have exact same issue, but sometimes, when my phone is out of battery and then i put it back on charge, it just vibrates for ever, until i turn it on while its charging. It started doing it recently.

Are you using Samsung branded USB cables? Mine would not work untill I used Samsungs OEM ones.
I unrooted my phone BC of it not charging. It still wont. Took my extended batt out charged it in my friends galaxy nexus so I could use it LOL. Yes using Samsung charger

So lately I've been running into a rather annoying and inconvenient problem with my beloved S3. The thing doesn't charge well, at all. Plugged into the wall, via USB, via fast charge USB...I just can't get it to charge. I went to bed last night with the phone at around 30%, plugged it into the wall, and when I woke up 7 hours later it was at 55%....not ideal. Same result when I left it plugged into my computer overnight. At first I thought it was the wall charger, but that was ruled out when I found that I couldn't charge over usb either. My current suspect is a faulty usb cable, and unfortunately I don't have another one to test. What are the odds its damaged contacts on the inside of the phone? is there a way to test/look for that? FYI I'm running beans jellybean build 2, but this problem started when I was still on ICS. Any ideas as to what could be causing it? I've noticed high android system usage (over 50%), but I doubt that accounts for the drain I'm seeing. Any help figuring this our would be appreciated.

I had this exact same issue, eventually it stopped charging at all.
Turned out to be a fault of the phone. Called Verizon, they sent me another battery to try, didn't fix anything, they then did a warranty exchange. Got a refurb phone and it works great.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks for the intel. Im actually on a refurb right now due to some issues with my launch device. Was your replacement covered under warranty at no cost? Unfortunately for me I'm abroad so I can't exactly go in to a Verizon store or call them to ship a replacement.

Do wipe the battery stats and see - wouldn't probably solve the issue but worth trying !
I too have USB problems. A normal car charger will work but when I use my USB wall/laptop/car it won't charge much. When i sleep it stops charging and I wake up to 70% battery or so. I don't know if its my cable (which it probably is) or if its my phone. Where do I go about replacing my USB?

For me I think it is my AC adapter. My phone charges faster plugged into my macbook than my wall charger.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I'll try to find a new cable and see if it works. Other than that I'm at a loss. I think I've had this problem before and fixed it with a complete drain, followed by a full charge from the wall (with phone off). I can't remember if it was this exact same situation though, and also have no idea why said solution would work.

thats crazy...my device charges in 2.5hrs plugged into the wall.
Does Samsung sell the USB on their site? I don't like things that aren't exactly made for my phone.

Amazon: OEM Cable
Although I don't think you'll have any issues with any generic cables, I've used many different cables from other phones, monoprice, amazon, etc and haven't had any issues with charging any phone I have.
Alright I just had my phone plugged in for over 7 hours to get it to 100%. I'll give a progress report when I try to charge it again. Fyi it just dropped 2% in less than a minute.
UPDATE: battery still horrible. Went back to tw nandroid to rule out the possibility of a JB leak bug

Doubtful that anyone will see this, but there's a new development. My phone's LED indicator turned green to signal a full charge while the phone was still at 91%.... whatever that means

I want the one that came with my phone. I'm currently using that cable, until I find the EXACT USB that came with a Galaxy S3.

Mine was doing that same **** before it broke when it stopped suddenly just after impact with concrete.
I was about to reflash the synergy rom I was on hoping that would fix it.
Did a reinstall fix the charging issue no now you've just got a wrong indicator or is the charging issue still there.
I totally attribute this to a degrading OS... Now I'm not so sure...
Tap'd
Still persists after multiple ROM flashes. I'm gonna get a new cable and see if that works.
Update: yup it was the cable. At least it's not the phone

Glad you sorted your issue.
Last night, out of the blue, my new to me refurb from asurion decided to not charge either.
Unplug, reboot, plug back in.. charging as normal. Wtf?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Well, its back at it.
At 16% earlier today the phone was plugged in, charged fine, fell on its face. Unplugged, battery pull, charging again then slows. 6 hours later it was up to 75% where its slowly been losing charge while plugged in.
Any idears?

On Amazon you can buy a battery with a standalone charger you could charge and swap batteries till you can get a new phone if it is now warranty replaced
I have charged my dock with the tablet and without the tablet and i rebooted like a million times, but my eee pad keeps saying my dock battery is 0%... Even after two nights charging.
Is it a well know problem? Software or hardware related? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
P.s. the dock led light keeps flashing orange with long bursts while charger is connected.
While tablet is in use and im not charging, it keeps flashing orange in short bursts, i dont know if this helps in anyway.

Sounds like the dock has a fault mate Those charging lights are when the battery is at 0% so it is not receiving any charge.

Well if you are getting the orange flashing light when trying to charge whilst undocked then it is a problem with the dock itself.
