Hi Everybody.
I saw some videos with storyboard in iOS development. I take interest into this project. I'm going to design and try to implement a such similar thing as long term just for fun project. Not sure yet, but I hope it will be alive and I will still want to do it. I understand this project is not small so I am looking for co-developers to work on it together. I am experienced Android developer and have experience developing desktop apps. Honestly I am familiar with OSX development, but I think I have very poor experience with it. I am looking forward and develop prototype native application for OSX and later, may be, for Windows.
Just as note, I want it to be as big live parser and designer, so it will use real source code of android project and does not require any additional libraries or frameworks to be integrated into Android project.
If you are not familiar with storyboard in iOS, please just look at screenshot and you will understand why android designer sucks.
Thank you and let me know if you are interested in this.
p.s. I hope I've chosen right thread to post a such topic.

Android-x86 is a project to get android up and running on x86 architecture. It is currently ran by just two people, and 1.6 is more or less completely functional on Eeepc and Dell Mini's.
However, progress has slowed, and the developers are beginning to lose interest due to the current community following. A large amount of the followers of the project demand things, and give little back, often getting angry if they are not instantly provided what they want. This is a scourge of most opensource or hack projects, but especially so here, as the project has had little interest from other devs, leaving them on their own.
Whilst I do not have the ability to give a whole lot of help myself (yet), I desperately think this project should succeed, and am asking any able developers with free time who are up for seeing Android up on a new platform to give it a go.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for any support you are able to give these guys.
HI i was wondering if any of the devs could point me in the right direction to learn , read, etc... about Rom cooking, im willing to learn but seriously i have no way on how to start i do know a couple of things but thats about it.
thanks for any info and Help.
I am not a ROM developer, but I have seen developer's responses to questions like this (as I'd like to dive into app development myself):

Things you will need to look into first include the java programming language (which is easy enough if you are familiar with another OOP language) and the Android SDK. While you can develop for Android in Windows it looks like most of the useful tools for ROM development are mainly available in linux, so you may also want to give linux a shot as well if you aren't familiar with linux and that style of developing.
Once you get a working SDK set up and have some java experience then you can move on to actually decompiling apps and ROMs and examining the code (using the tools that Raver mentioned in the post I linked to). The Android Developers site has great resources available for learning about nearly everything you will need to know Android-wise.
I was wondering what developers thought about using eclipse. Is it easy to use or is it not. When I look online most veteran programmers say its easy to pick up but when I tried it seem kind of tough. I read an articule about it here
http://eclipseandriod.blogspot.com/
The author seem to think it was tough but easy at same time which left me confused. What do you think?
I had very few problems getting set up to develop using Eclipse for Android Development.
Perhaps if you can give some details of the problems you are experiencing we could provide some guidance.

Same idea here. Just give some examples where you feel stuck and maybe we could help.
I think it really depends on your programming background. If you dont know Java, no IDE in the world is going to be easy to learn, however, if you do know Java and can understand how android layout are defined, then Eclipse is easy and straightforward!
Basically I dont know Java programming and Iam used to using visual tools like level editors where you can just code on the object after you place it on the screen. Are there any level editor type tools for eclipse?
The reason why Android uses Java is because the original goals of android was to make a fast spreading, open source smartphone OS that seats Google as the default search engine. Java had/has the largest community of developers. Because Android uses Java, applications can reuse lots of already written Java code saving programmers tons of time that it would've taken to rewrite in whatever other language they would have chosen.
As for a beginner trying to make an Android app -- there's no way to get around the coding. It could be much, much harder. Java's really popular and well documented language with lots of books on it. Learning it would be easier than lots of other languages they could've used.
I'm not entirely sure where I should start. I want to make a camera application which adds an image of an object to a photo being taken. I enjoy flashing ROMs and what not but as far as developing goes I'm clueless. Where should I start? Are there any trustworthy websites that can teach me the basics?
First and foremost requirement is a basic knowledge of JAVA i guess without the knowledge of JAVA its really difficult to develop apps for android....
Next is Android SDK and an IDE... My personal recomendation is Eclipse(with ADT plugin).
There is a wonderful book for android development ..more info www(dot)dummies(dot)com
I guess that book is enough to give a kick start to android development
go to developers.android.com
It is by far the best resource or learning android.
Have you done any programming before? Learning to develop for Android is no different than learning a new programming language. In this case Java.
Start by creating a hello world app. developer(dot)android(dot)com/training/basics/firstapp/index.html
The Internet is definitely your #1 source. The SDK has be used by other people quite thoroughly so even by searching something as specific as "putting an overlay image on a camera picture" will probably yield many result.
Have fun!
but be patient learning programming is really hard for me at least ...im struggling with my first language (python) for 8 months now and i dont have any results...
Hello everyone,
Im very new to this site, just registered a few moments ago. im not a bot, or a troll, so please bare with me if this post is in the incorrect place within the forum, or if some of my questions seem ignorant.... because i am sure they will (haha).
My development background:
0 ... i have none. Lol. In fact, ive barely begun to learn even the basics of source coding. So again, please bare with me on any of my ignorance.
Why I chose XDA forums:
Dealing with various issues on my Android device, i have googled my problems, and often-times found myself here to find the answers. I believe this forum has some of the highest intelligence this genre has to offer. Easily understandable advice put in a way the ignorant like myself can understand, goes a long way to helping others, and i believe i have found that here.
My Current issue:
I am tired of being an employee. I am tired of waking up and going to work to make someone elses dreams come true. At the age of 32 i believe its past the time i make steps to create something I can pass down to my sons. I have also noticed that the world of business has become vastly technological. Apps are needed for everything. So.... i want to know how to make apps. From the very beginning of it all, to the final production stages, and everything in between.
Where do i start?
Can i make one completely from my Android?
Where can i find app blueprints?
Do i need app blueprints?
These are just some examples of questions I have running through my head. I want to be an Andriloid game developer, I believe i could make the next big thing like AngryBirds, but i do not have the mental know-how, on the technological aspect on all of this. If any of you can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I am also open to the idea of a partnership in creating my first app.
Thank you very much for your time everyone.

Hi there, I'm a relatively recent beginner as well, having churned out only 1 app so far.
In terms of getting started from the ground up, I found the free online tutorial series from TheNewBoston pretty helpful. In particular, you'd want to look at the Java one and the Android Application Development one
Java

Android Development (may be using an outdated Android Studio by now, but overall still handy imo)

You need to do the Java one first, because you'll be writing Java code to make Android apps.
There are quite a bit of videos, especially for the Android one. You can pick and choose which you need based on the app you have in mind, like if you don't need voice recognition or drawing 3D objects, you can just skip over those.
Good luck!

Brother youre a life saver. These tutorials are awesome for beginners like me. Funny its called "NewBoston" as thats where i live too lol. But again, thanks for this.
Everything starts with Ideation. All mobile app developers follow the design guidelines during the design phase. The best method would be to make your first app relatively simple and to focus on creating something. Next step would be deciding on the wireframe for the app. Choose the IDE (everything needed to develop your apps), programming language and set it. Since you are using Android Studio and Java, you should know the basics of Java. Create and acquire images, build the layout and write the code. Add more functionality specific to your app and do extra polishing by running your app on different devices. Finally, publish your app. Check this article on how to make android app development easy https://www.fingent.com/blog/how-to-make-android-app-development-easy .
