Anybody try this?
My old Defy with undervolted cpu vsels have very good battery life,so i think the A2 has too.

Yes, totally possible, any of the standard oc packages allow it, do some searching. you should be stable down to at least 200 or so

Does anyone know of some good apps (preferably free) that I can use to overclock a rooted droid charge, with the latest altered beast ROM and kernel?
There aren't any overclock kernels at this point. Its being worked on. Just be patient.

You can try tegrak from the market if you really want oc.
In all honesty, just wait for a kernel to come out that will actually oc. I'd love a kernel that uses voltage control and will wait for that...
Ahh, thanks. This is my first android device so I have no idea what to expect and when
If I can ever get my config straightened out, I was going to look into doing an OC kernel that uses Voltage Control, similar to nemesis2all's kernels for the Fascinate. Still trying to get a working config though.
My opinion though is that OCing the hummingbird processor is useless, and does little for performance on a day-to-day basis and only serves to give you big numbers in benchmarks while reducing battery life.
I mostly used the 1120 step skipping 1000 and scoring serious uv was awesome
Hey all,
I am new to the Android community. I just rooted my Nexus and flashed the Oxygen rom on it. It comes with the Netarchy kernel 1.3.5.(has awesome battery life) On the forums i noticed a lot of people posting about a trinity uv kernel for oxygen. Can anyone explain the difference between the kernels. Will changing the kernel affect my battery life?. And there is a new netarchy, should i update it to the latest version or just use the one which comes with the rom.. I am really a novice here, So any help would be appreciated. .
Try both out and see which one you like better.
You can undervolt using Netarchy as well. You can either use SetCPU or Proton Voltage Control to undervolt.

Do these kernels overclock the sgx540 gpu?
If so by how much?

overclocks CPU not GPU
But people saying the trinity kernel also overclocks the gpu which explains high quadrant. Also for galaxy s kernels they say 1500mhz for cpu equals 250mhz for the gpu and they have the same hardware.
So,
We've all got our Xooms, what are you experiences with each kernel, which one do you find the best? (and with what governors?)
Secondly, What are your UV values? Whats the best you've got when trying to undervolt?
Ive just got my Xoom (32gb, wifi, uk) and im just on the brink of experimenting with the undervolting, i searched but couldn't find a relevent topic.
So please, do post values, kernels and your experiences
ah okay, I thought this would be quite an important issue,
I've managed to get the xoom to handle 1.6 undervolting each state by 100mv
I am however having trouble getting both cores to stabilse at 1.6. Using os monitor I can see that only one core sticks, the other goes down to 300 mhz,.

I haven't fooled around with over/undervolting, but I like the oc gpu version of the Tachi kernel.
Zero problems and very smooth. I am very stable at 1504MGh

what you using for OC?
Setcpu or pimp my cpu or anything else.
Which governor you use?
I had lots of rebooting with setcpu especially after applying voltages.

I use CPU Master for oc and setting profiles. I do have the oc set on boot, because 1504 is my sweetspot and is stable.
Just installed Moray+tachi
Mobo player freezed few times, rest ok.
Edit: Trying "No frills" discarded Set Cpu for now.

No Frills is good, but I don't know if you can set profiles, which are good to save battery, control overheating, etc...
I try and set my sensation to 1.9 (1.89)ghz on setcpu. Right after i set it up, the phone reboots and the setting is lost. I tried different apps but nothing changes. i have a custom setcpu setting and still nothing happens. It only works when i overclock to something under 1.9. Anyone else having the same problem? Disable perflock isn't working for me. If thats the solution, how to fix it?
Running SENSEaY - XE35 v2.1.0 with Bricked 1.5 kernel.

Sounds like you weren't aware that 1.7GHz and higher aren't considered stable freqs, 1.9GHz has a high Voltage which may cause the kernel to panic and issue a reboot. Just stick with a lower freq around the 1.2 stock speed.

Any CPU aren't the same. It seem that your CPU can't handle that much clock speed. Speed on 1.9 and 1.782 Ghz are quite the same. (Quadrant might shows couple hundreds higher but not effect any everyday uses.)

Thanks for the heads up. Where'd you hear that? i dont remember reading about it. Is there a way to make 1.9ghz work?
What benefits will 1.9GHz provide other than wearing down your battery faster?

Just looking at that voltage table and my experiences with that freq from past phones tells me so . Jumping from the low level to such a high one should cause a freeze on any device.
@LooieEng 1.9GHz may help this phone run future Android revisions smoothly, and perhaps Win8 will function on the phone too.
hi, I'm running android revolution, the rom works fine...during the flash 4ext ask me what kernel I want, if stock or 1.5ghz...
what do you think about? battery? cpu damage?
all softwares run very well, I don't think is necessary to set cpu at 1.5....but have more power is better XD
suggestions? can I use any software to set the cpu clock?
I'm using vi4.0 at 1.512ghz. I'm actually impressed with the 13-15 hours of text/call/video/music mid to high usage.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
but is better? more...reactive, speed?
I think 1.2Ghz is sufficient for a Sensation !
All games don't lag on 1.2Ghz..
I am also using ARHD 6.3 and overclocked to 1.83ghz. I did not notice a difference in battery life. But my phone is noticeably very fast! I am using "setcpu" apk.

You will notice a difference in speed and responsiveness! You can always try and if you don't think that it is worth the slightly reduced battery life you can always revert to stock! ( i'm running IC 5.11 on 1.5 GHz and i get 1.5 day with moderate to heavy usage ). Don't worry it is safe as the CPU of the sensation is meant to run at 1.5 GHz ( like the sensation XE )!
ok, I did it, works fine, very very responsive....that's good!....
but!....I want smartassv2!....smartass at least!...
here there are only default governors!
are there kernels compatible with android revolution?
and is not clear, setcpu works with dual core CPUs?

The source code for the 3.0 kernel isn't released yet, so all that can be done are hex edits. Because of this, only the default governors are availible.

SetCPU is compatible with dual core CPUs, however it turns core 2 permanently on. You can use System Tuner if you don't want this.
thanks a lot, any link or suggest for a good kernel?

SebasianFM is the only one who edits kernels for ICS so far.
I am currently on Sebastian's kernel clocked at 1612MHz and everything is just fine.. feel free to flash
I use his 1.78GHz kernel and its very fast, stable, and also has decent battery life.
