I believe it's found inside the kernel. I can't link you to the thread that explains how to change it cause I'm working and don't have the link memorized. lol. But if nobody beats me to it I'll throw the link up once I get home.

thanks for any help you are able to provide me!

You need to make an bootanimation.zip
/system/media
Extraction one from any custom rom
Maybe, go to theme and App section
And fine someome to help you
Dont flash any bootanimation.zip
Envoyé depuis mon ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T avec Tapatalk

yeah i know how to do that, i already made a custom bootanimation
im trying to change/cusomize the splash screen: see attachment

You need to backup your kernel, extract the ".img" file, edit the splash screen, repack it & flash

It's not that simple. You are right about the kernel though.
I know on my s3 it's called initrd.gz or something like that then you need to use a tool to convert that to an actual image, or using the same tool, convert your already created image into the initrd format then put back into the kernel.
I'm not sure how the transformer kernel is I haven't had time to tear it apart.

Hi,
Somebody else asked this question just recently.
I have done this on my Sony Xperia Mini-Pro (SK17i). I added my XDA avatar to the boot screeen prior to the bootanimation.. It replaced the Sony logo.
I spent hours over a period of 3 weeks trying to get it to work (I should have given up as I did not know what I was doing and just wanted it to work). I was doing this on a windows7 machine which added to my confusion with what to do.
The Sony SK17i is almost unbrickable. I lost count of the times I flashed re-flashed bootlooped and generally stuffed it up. From my hours of reading forum post after forum post there was 1 thing that stood out for me. If the image you create to replace the boot logo is too big (bigger than the 1 you are replacing) it will overwrite some important stuff (I did say I had no idea what I was doing..well almost none)...this will result in a bricked tablet. In my case that was one thing I made sure of, that the image I was replacing was not bigger than the original (I mean the file size), from what I understood there would have been no going back even for my phone. (I think it may overwrite memory in the phone?)
Here is a link that I found referring to this process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477845
Please note this link is for Linux... I did this from Windows 7 which was a serious pain in the ass ! There is another link in that thread that refers to a thread by DooMLoRD about replacing the logo.rle file which may enlighten you further.
When someone else asked about this recently I warned against touching this unless he was 300% sure he knew what he was doing or had some disposable cash for a new tablet when it got bricked. There are so many threads with people bricking the tf300t it's not something I would risk doing. If your a bit more experienced with the tf300t then happy reading I'd be inclined to re-read everything you can find a few times over

The info about not touching it unless you are 300% sure you know what you are doing is the best advice I've seen all day and I couldn't agree more.
As you can see by many of the threads in here, it doesnt take much to brick this device. Unless you know what you are doing, leave the kernel alone. The tf300t would be an expensive paper weight.

Smart move. I would love to change mine but IMO, it's just not worth taking the risk. I've got too much invested in my tab and dock.
It would be nice if you get it figured out though and it's an easy fix.
If you would, please let us know if you manage to get it changed. Thx:thumbup:

Just a suggestion...
Try renaming it (the first one) the bootanimation.zip and use root explorer to swap it out with current one. It should be in system/customize/resources. After you swap it out make sure the permissions are the same from the original bootanimation.zip.
Ok I did that and still no luck. I even used another one I have and no luck

[Mod] CWM on boot

Read below please!
I take no credit for this. I just thought i would share it. There hasnt been too much talk about it besides the bootstrap recovery thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385283
At the bottom of the post there are 2 zip files, one to flash the recovery on boot and one to remove recovery on boot.
Me, as well as a few others have tested this on our atrix 2 and have seen exceptional results. There are minor bugs but thats why I remove it if I dont need it.
Bug1- seems to make gps weird
Bug2- removes oc on rebel rom, maybe others
Bug3: tell me
Thia allows you to boot straight into recovery on every boot. I use it as a savehaven. I flash it before i flash something and if it doesnt put me in a boot loop i reboot recovery and flash the second zip file.
If ive posted in the wrong forum, feel free to move it. Thanks.

From what the OP says, this shouldnt effect gps. Some users have had it affect gps, some havent. The only fix as of this moment is removal of the mod. But i never use it unless i flasg something, then i disable it anyways, so gps was never an issue

We need to figure out why this behavior is occurring and correct it. It woulld be too easy to flash something experimental and forget just that one time to re-install the OnBoot utility. I need GPS working.

Does having cwm on boot installed give you a flashing green led whenever you turn your screen off?? Or is it just me? I've been trying to figure out what's causing this for a couple days now..
EDIT: nope. I just uninstalled it and rebooted a couple of times and it still flashes.. no notifications, just the led.. might have to make this a question in the general thread...

The boot.img AKA Kernel, is basically the heart of the phone. Without it the phone will not start up all the way. (Will stay at the splash screen)
Think of it like this.... A android phone is a car, and the kernel is that cars engine. If the engine isn't there the car won't move.
That's the best I could come up with. Hope it helps

Concerns with rooting.

Hey guys I am new to the charge. I really want to root but I have some concerns first. For one I have already replaced this phone twice since I got it. If I un-root it will Verizon notice I rooted it at all? Also how safe is it? I really don't want a $300 paper weight. I rooted my old sch-m828c from straightalk and the phone wouldn't connect to the computer anymore; is that a concern with the charge? As from the last sentence I have experience with odin but my old phone lost the root somehow and i was unable to boot it back to stock. Is the charge better about stuff like that? Please respond with any help. (Best mods, safest methods etc.) Thanks in advance!

All your questions can b answered if you just read the DC development forum posts, everything is there. Just do the research first, read all the posts.that is how I started. I read n reread all the posts for a month, downloaded relevant files made shure I understood what I read n followed the steps to rooting n flashing to the last letter. Never had any problems.

Honestly this phone is super easy. I was able to root with clockwork mod, install a custom kernal and flash a Tom in about two hour and evertlything worked first try and my first time ever doing any of it.
Followvthe instructions carefully and do exactly as they tell you and you should be fine.

Just rooted

Just rooted using the root 66 method. Worked great. Debloated a little bit but wanna try a custom Rom. I've read but can't seem to grasp how to flash roms yet. Can anyone offer some tips? Do you need adb or can you flash wherever ?

Get ez-recovery, makes flashing different recoveries super easy. After flashing rom and setting up, go back to recovery and flash the kernal. That's what I did on synergy and imo's kernal. Beans v5 flashes it all at once. So far both run great with very good battery life.

If you flash any CM10 based ROM's you will have to do some extra steps. IMO you should just start off with Touch Wiz based ROMS so all you need to do is flash from your SD once and reboot.
