I remember my Acer Iconia had this feature where, depending on the position of the Tablet, the volume rockers would adjust the volume appropriately.
(So, if in portrait mode, the "up"side of the rocker would be vol up---landscape mode, the right side of the rocker would be vol up.)
It isn't a big deal, I just wonder if there is something I could do to have that happen.
Thoughts?

That's what I was thinking, it would make it a lot easier and less confusing.

Hi guys, I have a htc desire hd and am always cautious when I have turned my phone off and like to check if it is actually off. But the only way you can do this is by pressing the lock button, however this will turn the phone on anyway. So my question is if there is an application that allows you to wake up the phone (by that I mean when it is locked, bringing up the unlock screen) by using the volume rocker?
P.s I realise this should probably be in the desire hd section sorry

If you download lock bot from the market, it wakes your phone by pressing the volume key.

thanks for that but i dont really want to change the entire lock screen process, i would just like to have the default lock screen, but instead of just being able to show it with the power key, i would like to be able to activate it withthe rocker volume aswell
Any one got anything else to recommend?

Is there any way on the stock device to take a screen shot?

Power button and the home button works I think.
And a second method is power button + vol down. I find the timing tricky and sometimes end up switching the phone or the volume off but it does work when I get it right

Hit them at the same time and you're good.

IMO it works better if you press and hold the buttons until it says "Screenshot Saved"
Yes...it works! I don't have to spent $4 at the market!

I've found that if you're holding down the power button and tap the volume down or home button it usually works.
Does anyone know a way to change the behavior of the volume button in portrait mode? I use my prime in portrait with the power button on the top right and the volume button works with down as up and up as down. Its very annoying. I can't believe ASUS didn't think about this in development.
No return it and get an iPad .....
Kidding about the iPad never that

I'm guessing it is stuck. As I'm typing this, the volume panel keeps popping up. If I try to adjust the volume slider down, it goes right back up. If it hit the down button, it will go away for a minute or two. It also keeps me from being able to put it to sleep. Could it be a software issue?

So I just found out my xoom is the Verizon 3/4G + wifi one but I unlocked and rooted it as the wifi only version. Could that be why I'm getting weird malfunctions with my up volume?

Ever since updating my Verizon Moto G to 4.4.2, the screenshot function is all kinds of crazy. Sometimes it works, sometimes when I press the Volume Down + Power button, it turns the volume up instead of capturing screenshot. Which is crazy because how its turning the volume up when I'm pressing volume down button baffles me. Anyone else experiencing this?

Did not experience this. I think you may try pressing and holding both bottons.
you have to press the buttons simultaneously - otherwise it would bring up volume control!

As being quite the avid android user, I know quite well how to use the screenshot function. And I know what buttons I'm pushing.

you are right. its bit awkward to take screen shot with stock4.4.2, after many times trial finally got a SS
i am former CM user with my earlier device. taking SS was like so easy.
though i didnt tried SS with stock 4.3
No problem here either when it was 4.3 or 4.4.2
