I'm guessing it is stuck. As I'm typing this, the volume panel keeps popping up. If I try to adjust the volume slider down, it goes right back up. If it hit the down button, it will go away for a minute or two. It also keeps me from being able to put it to sleep. Could it be a software issue?

So I just found out my xoom is the Verizon 3/4G + wifi one but I unlocked and rooted it as the wifi only version. Could that be why I'm getting weird malfunctions with my up volume?

Hi guys, I have a htc desire hd and am always cautious when I have turned my phone off and like to check if it is actually off. But the only way you can do this is by pressing the lock button, however this will turn the phone on anyway. So my question is if there is an application that allows you to wake up the phone (by that I mean when it is locked, bringing up the unlock screen) by using the volume rocker?
P.s I realise this should probably be in the desire hd section sorry

If you download lock bot from the market, it wakes your phone by pressing the volume key.

thanks for that but i dont really want to change the entire lock screen process, i would just like to have the default lock screen, but instead of just being able to show it with the power key, i would like to be able to activate it withthe rocker volume aswell
Any one got anything else to recommend?

Whenever I tap on shutdown, it turns off the screen, then proceeds to turn right back on without me pressing any buttons. Is anybody else having this problem?

Yes, and a search would've revealed that.
look here
My friends inspire will only boot into the bootloader. When I turn the phone it goes straight to the bootloader. The phone does recognize when you plug in a usb cable, but it won't let me scroll through the options. The phone is not rooted nor did he try to root it. It boots into that screen and won't allow you to do anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the volume button is stuck.

Did you say it is not rooted and it's booting into bootloader? How long have they had it? You sure it's not rooted? If it's not rooted call for a Warrenty exchange.

This is definitely the answer, something might possibly be in between the rocker also, like a small rock that would cause the constant connection for the "down" action that wont allow you do do anything.
It's definitely not rooted. Security is still on and he had no idea what I meant when I asked if he rooted it. The volume rocker being stuck makes sense somewhat. We got the volume rocker to work one time and did a factory reset. After that the volume rocker quit working again. Att said they wouldn't exchange it because their first thoughts were it was tampered with and that he tried to root it. I'm a cell phone repairman. Maybe il just open it up and see if there's something blocking the volume rocker.

Every time I try to power off my DROID MAXX when it's charging (be it a wall outlet or my computer) instead of turning off, it resets instead. Does anybody else have this problem? When I turn it off, then charge, it stays powered down, but it's still slightly annoying. Any fix would be greatly appreciated.
Mine does the same. Power off twice.

Thanks. When I try it later, are you saying should I hit the power button twice or just try again after the first reboot?

Try it again after the first cycle.

Thanks for the help. Strangely, now it seems to be staying off on the first shutdown. I've downloaded a task killer and a few updates, so maybe it was fixed in the meantime.

I find also turning it on when plug in an issue. I have to hold the power button for so long and then it skips the M boot animation and goes strait to the droid animation.
Are you plugged into a computer or the wall?
Typically if you're plugged into a computer it won't power off.

I think you're initiating fastboot. There's a bit of a delay, so try holding the power button for only two seconds then just waiting for the normal boot animation.

Ever since updating my Verizon Moto G to 4.4.2, the screenshot function is all kinds of crazy. Sometimes it works, sometimes when I press the Volume Down + Power button, it turns the volume up instead of capturing screenshot. Which is crazy because how its turning the volume up when I'm pressing volume down button baffles me. Anyone else experiencing this?

Did not experience this. I think you may try pressing and holding both bottons.
you have to press the buttons simultaneously - otherwise it would bring up volume control!

As being quite the avid android user, I know quite well how to use the screenshot function. And I know what buttons I'm pushing.

you are right. its bit awkward to take screen shot with stock4.4.2, after many times trial finally got a SS
i am former CM user with my earlier device. taking SS was like so easy.
though i didnt tried SS with stock 4.3
No problem here either when it was 4.3 or 4.4.2
