Is there any way on the stock device to take a screen shot?

Power button and the home button works I think.
And a second method is power button + vol down. I find the timing tricky and sometimes end up switching the phone or the volume off but it does work when I get it right

Hit them at the same time and you're good.

IMO it works better if you press and hold the buttons until it says "Screenshot Saved"
Yes...it works! I don't have to spent $4 at the market!

I've found that if you're holding down the power button and tap the volume down or home button it usually works.

How do you take a screenshot on this phone? I'm sorry for wasting time with this. I can't figure it out or find it in the manual. Thanks in advance.

one of these was "sens" function, so if u get rom w/o sens I think the home+power button wont work (or the otherone )
I think the home+power is from sense as it doesn't work on my friends gnex, but for some reason I can't get the power+vol- to work on my one s but works fine on his gnex.

It's both, for both versions of the phone.
Vol- + Powerbutton doesn't work for me :/ But Power + Home works fine (and is easier )

You can keep saying it, but it doesn't make it true.
Power + Home works for my T-Mobile (US), Power + Vol- does not.
Power + Vol - is an ICS feature. It does work on the One S, it just takes a bit of practice

Are you serious? Is this really something someone would lie about?
I can do both on my One S. I didn't even know about Power + Home until it was mentioned in this thread. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others can't and/or it's not a feature.
Yes, I have a TMO-US One S.
Hold Power then press the Home button.
Not to be that guy but this question has been asked a few times before, please search the forums first, also there is a Noob Q&A Thread for stuff like this. "Noob" not being derogatory.

Here you go, I made a Youtube just for you!
(And this thread, to prove that they both work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqdip6XJUJs&feature=youtu.be
Yes, I have that much free time since classes just ended for the summer.
Both methods work
Method 1:
Press power and volume - at the same time
Method 2:
Hold power while tapping the home key
Power and volume down hold them then let go.

Yea just tested both my self -vol+power seem to have a shutter sound and have to be pushed at the sametime as for the power+home just flashes the screen and power can be pressed befor tapping the home button.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
Also one gets put in the screenshots subfolder while the other goes in the cameraroll....
the QA on this phone leaves me cold.

home + power button same time
I had the same problem. In GB you had to press the home + power buttons, but now with ICS you have to hold it for a second or two.
Home + Power on AT&T takes me into an open-apps type screen, along with a link to task manager. It doesn't take a screenshot as far as I can tell.
Home + power button at the same time but you have to hold it down now until it takes a screenshot. Like 3-4 seconds.

When I hold the home button down, it opens the Task Manager screen. I then press the Power button and hold that for a long time, and nothing happens. When I release the buttons, my Skyrocket reboots. Can't figure out how to take screenshots anymore. I've tried all the different combinations of buttons and timing that I found searching for this, but nothing works. Wish I hadn't "upgraded" to ICS now.
Sorry, I'm on AT&T but I've heard that taking screenshots on the Skyrocket should be the same.
Hahaha. Unreal man, unreal. You guys amaze me

UCLD2
Samsung removed the Power + Vol. Down (note the order) since UCLD2 (ICS TouchWize roms), Power + Home is your only option on the stock touchwiz offereing. You need to muck around with framework jar to enable it. Obviously, my ROMS (EMBRYO) have it enabled since I am used to the Power + Vol. Down
I have ICS with Matr1x kernel. I thought it was volume down + power button, but that doesn't work.
Press and hold them down for like 3 seconds

got it. have to actually press the power button a split second before volume down. thanks!
What is the correct method for taking a screen shot?
Power + Home button works
Power+Home doesn't work for me.
Power+Vol Down is what does it for me.

I must of been not pressing hard enough. Volume Down and Power did work.
Volume and home, Does not work
Not sure how this varies, but Power + Home works on my phone, Power + Volume does nothing but adjust the volume. Weird.

What home button? Do you have a HTC One (M8) on Verizon? Mine doesn't have a dedicated home button. Power+Volume down produces a screenshot.
The soft home button. Yeah it's an M8. Just got it Wednesday.

Weird. That just shuts my screen off LOL
I can confirm without a doubt that both methods work. I find its 100x easier to just use power and volume down at the same time.

Running skyfall and faux kernel. Everything was fine until installed this app. Went to reboot as requested then nothing. Powered off. Will not turn on at all. Can't boot into the boot screen. Power cable doesn't so anything,...uh I'm confused. Please help
Hold down your power button for over thirty seconds and report back. I couldn't turn on my phone once, but after holding down the power button for ages, it eventually booted.
If you liked my post, please hit the "thanks" button.
