How to take screenshot - HTC One S

How do you take a screenshot on this phone? I'm sorry for wasting time with this. I can't figure it out or find it in the manual. Thanks in advance.

one of these was "sens" function, so if u get rom w/o sens I think the home+power button wont work (or the otherone )

I think the home+power is from sense as it doesn't work on my friends gnex, but for some reason I can't get the power+vol- to work on my one s but works fine on his gnex.

For my stock US tmobile it is power+home button.

It's both, for both versions of the phone.

Vol- + Powerbutton doesn't work for me :/ But Power + Home works fine (and is easier )

You can keep saying it, but it doesn't make it true.
Power + Home works for my T-Mobile (US), Power + Vol- does not.

Power + Vol - is an ICS feature. It does work on the One S, it just takes a bit of practice

Are you serious? Is this really something someone would lie about?
I can do both on my One S. I didn't even know about Power + Home until it was mentioned in this thread. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean others can't and/or it's not a feature.
Yes, I have a TMO-US One S.

Hold Power then press the Home button.
Not to be that guy but this question has been asked a few times before, please search the forums first, also there is a Noob Q&A Thread for stuff like this. "Noob" not being derogatory.

Here you go, I made a Youtube just for you!
(And this thread, to prove that they both work)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqdip6XJUJs&feature=youtu.be
Yes, I have that much free time since classes just ended for the summer.

Both methods work
Method 1:
Press power and volume - at the same time
Method 2:
Hold power while tapping the home key

Power and volume down hold them then let go.

Yea just tested both my self -vol+power seem to have a shutter sound and have to be pushed at the sametime as for the power+home just flashes the screen and power can be pressed befor tapping the home button.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA

Also one gets put in the screenshots subfolder while the other goes in the cameraroll....
the QA on this phone leaves me cold.

How to restart phone without removable battery?

Ok so normally if a phone were to freeze up or something happend you just pull the battery and then put it back in and start it up... is there a button combination or something that no matter what will alwaya restart the phone?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
volume up AND down AND power will force a reboot
Wrong
In official user manual on page 180 is that the when not responding press power button for 10 seconds then release to restart the phone

Well my method works and its confirmed by others. Now the OP knows 2 ways to reboot

Your method works because you are holding the power button. The volume keys have nothing to do with it you don't have to press them.

yeah i totally knew that

But seriously, Thats whats been mentioned a few times around here so thats always been the method i use...

Screen shots

Is there any way on the stock device to take a screen shot?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
Power button and the home button works I think.
And a second method is power button + vol down. I find the timing tricky and sometimes end up switching the phone or the volume off but it does work when I get it right

IMO it works better if you press and hold the buttons until it says "Screenshot Saved"
Yes...it works! I don't have to spent $4 at the market!

I've found that if you're holding down the power button and tap the volume down or home button it usually works.

Do you all know that power + volume down takes a screen shot?

Well you do now.
Just asking because I see screen shot in most of the power options in the ROMs for the HOX and I don't understand why. XD

Pretty sure default has always been power+home. Power down doesn't do jack for me....well, it turns off my screen after my phone goes to vibrate.
Learn something new every day...
[POWER] + [HOME] on stock 1.85.
Power + down is the stock ICS way of doing it and it works...sorta. You have to get the timing right or else it'll just turn off your screen, bring your power menu up, or mess with your volume.
Power + Home is just so much easier though...

Well geeze guys! Just sharing my discovery! XD
Also, I wish it'd get taken out of the power menu. Don't need 3 ways to take a screen shot.

And nobody says there is anything wrong with that!
I was just pointing out the fact that HTC has included this feature since before Google decided to incorporate it in ICS.
Also, its interesting that HTC decided to include both their own method, and the Google way. HTC typically seems to prefer their own way of doing things, and removing the more "AOSP-ish" components.

Holding power and volume down at the same time is native to ICS and will save the screenshot to
/mnt/sdcard/pictures/screenshots
if I'm not mistaken. The One X can also take screenshots via home and power button. This will save the screenshot into a new folder DCIM or just drop them into /camera. I cant remember.

I hate the volume down+home, lol. When I hold the phone in my left hand and go to press home with my thumb it sometimes takes a screenshot.
On a random note, I feel like the HOX and a lot of other phones are easy to use one handed. I have slightly larger than average hands, but people should just put their pinky right under the home key on the edge if they need to. ANYWAY

How to exit download mode

I booted into download mode to check and see if it said I had a custom recovery installed or not.
Now how do I get out of download mode without pulling the battery? Is that possible?

Have you tried this and had it work? No amount of pressing/holding/thumping-on the power button exits download mode for me...
To avoid removing the case, I also tried power + home, power + volume up/down, power + licking the screen :silly: to no avail.
Battery pull works every time.
I can confirm: holding down the power and ONLY the power for long enough to finish a bowl of popcorn restarted my galaxy tab 2 from download mode. Phew! The battery on that would've taken longer to pull!

Gotta call bulls*it. adb does not work In Download mode
Holding the power button for a few seconds does the trick - just tested it
I had the same question and the actual answer, which I found worked on My Samsung Galaxy S2, was, and I quote---"the same way that you entered Download Mode"--i.e. in my case, holding Volume Down, Home and Power On buttons simultaneously--worked for me.
This was first mentioned by XDA Member 'zoot1'--so he deserves the credit.
