Hey Guys,
Just wanted to know if anyone had any success flashing some Tmobile radios on their Skyrocket with a Jellybean ROM?
I am currently running AOKP JB Rom, and I have a Tmobile signal, I can make calls and text, but something seems to be blocking my data. APN settings show T-Mobile US, so I know there is a connection.
My current Baseband is: T989UVLH1 <----Is that the problem?
Thanks in advance.
I'm running R4INS AOKP Oct 24 build. Unfortunately I can't seem to get hspa working correctly no matter what radio I flash. I'm going to try a few other ones and report back. I get edge without a problem, but it has issues with H+. I get widely fluctuating strength and terrible down speeds (5kbps). The upload speed is better (300kbps) but not what I should be seeing in my area.

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon's Network .I"m on a Verizon network extender at home and everytime I've installed any AOSP ROMs (Cyonogen Mod,Paranoid Android,Carbon ,Pacman etc,) my phone goes into roaming ,so I don't have a data connection or a phone connection, in my home with any of these ROM's. Outside of the network extender, the ROM's work. Currently I"m running Touchwiz Rom Jellybeans version 19. Stock or any Touchwiz ROM's work when I"m on the network extender. I've searched for a solution and have found none. I have owned my Galaxy S3 for over a year and haven't been able to run any of these ROM's because of the network extender issues. It's been very frustrating ,can someone please help with the situation?

I have to use a network extender at home as well. It's an older version so it doesn't handle data. I've used it on both TW and AOSP Roms without a problem, so what you have should work.
On AOSP roms, do you get the two tone note when you try to call? You should only need to dial #48 to register with it and then call out.

There are two different network extender models. On the older one, there is no data connection. The newer one offers 3G as well as voice I believe. So if you're on the older model you won't have network data and will have to rely on wifi. When you dial out, if you hear 2 tones before it begins to ring, then you're operating off the extender.
As long as you're on a stable version of a ROM, it shouldn't have any significant impact. I've used several TW and AOSP roms without noticing any real difference.

Hi, thank you for responding ,I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I've checked with Verizon and I"m on the newer network extender .On stock or Touchwiz ROM"s I do get a phone connection and 3G. I also get the the two tones when I dial a number before it connects. From what was explained to me that means I"m under the network extender. When I dial # 48 on an AOSP or TW ROM, it tells me that I'm under the network extender's connection.
95% of the ROM's I've used have been stable. The others have been Cyonogen Mod nightly's . On my Droid Razor Maxx, when running and AOSP ROM, I never had these issues.

In CM under
Settings > Wireless & Networks > More > Mobile networks
Do you have the data roaming options selected?
No, I've gone into mobile networks and changed it manually, rebooted and the "R" for roaming as shown in the photos is still there. I've manually forced it into 3g only and it remains the same. No data connection

Update: Currently I am running an AOSP Rom (CM 10.2 09-19-2013) and it's working. To get it to work, I installed the last ICS OTA modem (the VRLHE) and I am now getting data at home under the network extender. No more "R" for roaming! The modem is not as strong as the Jelly Bean VRBMF1 modem, but it's working. I still can't get any AOSP roms to work on JB modems and I don't know why. I was thinking of contacting the CM team for a possible solution. I am still glad it's working even though it's on an old radio.
I had the same issue two days ago when I flashed to the latest MIUI Rom. Here's how I fixed it.
Go into settings, mobile networks, make sure subscription is set to SIM. After that open the phone, type *#*#4636#*#* make sure it's set to LTE/CDMA/AUTO
Reboot phone and all should be well.

ok, so those with verizon network extenders, are you having issues connecting? I actually am, and want to make sure its not my phone.
I thought all the data issues on AOSP/CM were fixed. While I was on vacation, my phone (running SlimRom) showed 'mobile network disconnected' and had no data, while other people running Verizon (other Galaxy phones, iPhone) had no problems at all. Tried to switch airplane on/off, reboot etc, nothing worked.
So I'm starting to think a TW based rom might give better data?

TW based roms will always provide better reception then AOSP. This is due to the fact that the radio software for the S3 is closed source, so in order to get it to work we had to backwards engineer the radio software so that it will pick up signal from the network.
Hi all, I think I've searched applicable threads and come up but who knows.
So i've been playing with a few of the TW based 4.3 ROMs and have noticed that I do not have simultaneous voice & data anymore when the modem (ML1) is in 3G mode. Has anyone else seen this? It had worked great on 4.1.2 whether using stock TW or a custom TW ROM. I've reflashed the modem a few times and I have not seen a difference. FWIW I've noticed this on Alliance, MOAR and CleanROM for 4.3.
All other functionailty behaves as I'd expect, a few annoyances, but those are all well known.
But simultaneous voice/data in non-4G areas was one of the reasons I bought the S3, and I'm sadly leaning on reverting back to a 4.1.2 ROM to regain this ability.
Any thoughts/suggestions on what to try before flipping back to 4.1.2?
Thanks
John
Well, for any who care. I rewiped the phone, reinstalled the ML1 modem, and installed Alliance 22, and now simultaneous voice/data works again on 3G. Not sure if the rewipe did it or if something is different in the ROM/kernel. But back to what I want.
Next up figuring out why Bluetooth fails to connect in the car after having played for a while and been off for a while. Short of a reboot or walking away from the car for some amount of time it's stuck. But that's another search to do for another 4.3 issue (worked great on 4.1.2). fun fun

I just installed the latest CM12 nightly on my Nexus 5. The experience has been smooth for the most part, but my connection to T-Mobile's network has been pretty unreliable.
In places where I used to get LTE with stock Android 5.1, I now randomly switch between HSPA+ and 3G. I have a feeling that something is borked, but I don't know for sure. Any suggestions? Thanks.
+1
There shouldn't be anything from the ROM side that messes with your connection. I would double check your APN settings and you can try flashing other radios to see if your connection gets better. Is T-Mobile doing any work in the area? In on T-Mobile and have had no such issues on any aosp based Roms. I'm not much for cm but haven't noticed anything while running them.
