No usb no root please help - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a tf101 that I rooted and everything was fine then I did a factory restore. After that it would no longer connect to pc. Comes up with the 43 error no amount of drivers will get it to pull up. I tried Ubuntu just hoping maybe it would see it. Nothing. I read downloading and updating a stock rom from Asus would fix it so I tried that now I have no usb, no root, no recovery at all. I am stuck. Any suggestions? Thank You.

Sounds like a bad USB cable.
It may charge, but it may not work for data transfer.

Did you type lsusb in Ubuntu to see if it shows nvidia. Or is it Asus. I forget. Anyway if it shows you can download the ics stock. Rom here in the forums. Then depending which sbkversion (sbk1/sbk2) you should be able to use nvflash for sbk1 or wheelie for sbk2. I think sbk2 is b80+
wheelie I think works for both. Just execute the appropriate script. Put the wheelie files in the roms folder. I assume that means you must unzip it first. I hope it works for you. Then you can root it again etc.
I forgot to mention the tablet must be in apx mode (power+volume up screen goes black) . If you have windows and not Ubuntu I think you use easyflasher. But I don't know about windows.

I bought two cables just to make sure. Still nothing.

2 suggestions:
1 - enable USB debugging in settings and see if your computer recognizes it as an ADB device.
If so, use PERI (Windows).
2 - Boot to ADB (VOL UP and POWER) and see if your computer recognizes it. If so use NVFlash or EasyFalsher (Windows)

Peri windows?

This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155

If your tablet is recognized by a windoze PC with USB debugging enabled, you can root using the PERI tool that Thing O Doom developed. The commands work on Linux, but you have to type them out manually. The .bat file only works in Windoze.

Nothing so far
Thank you for all the input so far but, still nothing. Windows will not reconize it in APX or normal mode. Ubuntu Does not either. When going into recovery all I get is the little guy on his back. I did download wlanadb and my computer will reconize it but honestly I have no idea what to do from there.

APX issue

I'm trying to get adb running to see if I can root (I have a B70). I have followed the instructions for using BRKs method, APX shows up properly, but when I try adb "devices", APX disconnects. I'm running Windoze 7 Ultimate, I have all the correct drivers, and I have tried it on a 32 bit and a 64 bit OS.....does this mean I have the new SBK?
Edit: USB debugging is enabled

Adb wont work in apx, apx is for use nvflash, try tu run nvflash in apx and see if it works.
If you have the error: usb write fail, you have the sbk v2
Ok, then it is what I've feared....I can't root...yet

Help used B70+ nvflash on B60 pad

hi guys,
i used this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429/
for my B60 pad. it bricked my pad. i tried to unbrick with:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688012&highlight=nvflash
but it doesnt helped. i know, i am total idiot, because i used B70+ on B60, but if someone could help me, i would really appreciate.
Thank you very much in advance
I think peri should do the trick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155
Its a solution brought to you by user things o doom
it didnt helped, the screen is still black, drivers that installed in my PC are NVVIDIA USB BOOT recovery driver for mobile devices
EDIT: when i am using this tool, i cant see my pad in the list of devices in this progrem
it didnt helped, the screen is still black, drivers that installed in my PC are NVVIDIA USB BOOT recovery driver for mobile devices
EDIT: sry for duplicity, but i dont know how to delete this post
So you see peri do the whole nine yards and still the same black screen?
I've gotta say Things o doom made this app and it should solve soft bricks. Thats why i thought about peri.
you acctually run the .bat as administrator though ?
Peri retains the data the topic says. Things o Doom says that won't work if you wiped it allready with cwm
Must admit we should ask things o doom because of the fact he build the app and knows lot about the nvflash programs. As he can give you a better advice!
I mailed him too let you know in this topic what possibilities are for your tablet
Just use wheelie NvFlash and reinstall stock fw.
Download this: http://xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=Asus/Asus+Transformer+(TF101)/STOCK+ROMS/ICS+.24
extract to a folder.
Then download this: http://androidroot.mobi/2012/05/31/wheelie-for-windows-beta/
and extract it to the same folder, overwrite files from the first download with the wheelie files. Then plug tab in APX mode and run reflash_sbkv1 to unbrick
Edit: ^^This happens way too often doom
It is impossible for NVFlash not to work unless you have a 101g or a Slider. Get yourself into APX mode and run NVFlash again
i followed Thing O Doom's instructions, this is my screen after flashing.

after that i disconnected the cable and switched it off and tried to switch it on again, but there is no reply. but if i connect the cable again, thereis sound from my pc, like if i connect known HW and if u start flashing again, it goes to APXautomatically without power button + vol up. i think, that the pad is still in APX but i dont know how to exit it.

[Q] Bricked TF101, tried brk tool, easyflasher, peri

Good day, I am new here as a member. I think I bricked my TF101. The other day I installed 2 apps from play store if i remember it it was yousendit. I am running on stock ICS. then it just automatically turned off. i tried to turn it on again but when it goes into the asus screen with circling dots it just turns off again. tried cold booting it, still the same. then i used wipe data. but an hour has past still my tablet is still showng the android with a rotating orb in its belly. so last night i downloaded every tool i could research. first i tried PERI but it says it does not recognize my device, then i use brks tool v8, i tried installing stock rom as instructed, no success. then i tried easy flasher today and now i cant even see the first boot screen.
I hope you can help me, i use this tablet at work and presentation to my clients. I am new with this OS and seems that i wrecked my tab by solving it myslef, I hope this was not the case. BTW i have a B60 tf101. i bought it second hand with my savings so i have no warranty.
can you please give me a step by step solution, i am very desperate here, thank you.

Easy flaher is the way out,
1) Download universal naked driver and unzip into a folder
2) Download latest Asus transformer firmware and put it in firmware folder.
3) Uninstall all Asus drivers from your laptop.
4) Disconnect your laptop from WiFi/internet and make it offline
4) Now plug your tablet and let windows install required driver.
5) If windows cannot install driver( mostly it won't as laptop is not connected to the net) then use "manually install driver" option and select the folder where you downloaded and unzipped "universal naked driver" and that should install the naked driver.
6) If that doesn't then goto device manager, there you should see unknown device, select it and update the driver manually.
7) Once the driver is installed, then unplug the tablet
8) now connect the tablet back and press volume up and power button together till laptop starts installing APX driver.
9) If it doesn't then try repeating step 5 or step 6 and that will install APX driver.
10) Launch EASY FLASHER and unroot and install stock ROM...
Good luck

Sir i still cant get it to work i followed your instruction.
BTW here are my details. I guess I downloaded the correct update.
TF101

I am using an old HP laptop with XP as OS. And I adownloaded this from the asus website and placed it in the folder inside the easy flasher folder WW_epaduser9_2_1_27UpdateLauncher.zip.
Thanks in advance.

I tihnk a PART of your issues is that you got the wrong file. Instead of the WW version you should be using the US_epaduser file. This is of course thinking that you are in the USA.
I downloaded the WW version thinking that the pad was bought here in the Philippines (second hand). Or maybe I am wrong. Thanks for the idea I'll download the other update and give it a try.
You have a B60 tablet, just use NvFlash via APX mode manually. Much less room for error than anything else IMO, first download image from here http://xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=Asus/Asus+Transformer+(TF101)/STOCK+ROMS/ICS+.27
Pick WW for ww tablet, or US for us tablet. (I believe yours will be a US tablet, purchased in the Philippines)
Then download wheelie (NvFlash tool) from androidroot.mobi. Copy and paste the files into the other folder you downloaded earlier, overwrite everything with the newer wheelie files.
Put TF into APX mode (Power off, hold volume up while plugged into computer, power back on, screen will remain black and computer should detect device in APX mode.)
Run Reflash_sbkv1.bat (make sure it is sbkv1 not sbkv2 as you have a B60)
If runs successfully you should be unbricked.
You can then reroot with PERI or other if desired.

It doesn't matter what version of Asus you download ( I'm in US and I downloaded WW version), but can you explain what problems you facing while you try to follow the steps I mentioned... also screen shot of laptop would help I have bricked my tablet at least 10 times and easy flasher (wheelie) always brought it back....

Pics and more info would help ^^
Easy flasher *should* work, from what I've heard of it.
I was wondering what's supposed to happen after I launch sbkv1, my tablet just seems to disconnect and the screen stays black.
im trying on whellie tonight
so here are my screenshots. i downloaded from the link you gave me, and downladed wheelie then extracted wheelie on the same folder as the rom. clicked on reflash sbkv1 and on to the next screenshot, how many minutes sholud i wait for it, it says done, but when i switch on my TF nothing happens.
I followed again the whelie using the US and this happened. will it automatically boot my TF or should i manually boot it?
I also used easyflasher and i got stuck with this? what am I doing wrong?
guys i found the box of my TF and shot a pic of the serial number just to be sure.
i researched a bit on other forums and i think im in an permanent apx loop which some say is unsolvable. is this true? i hope not.

As far as I can understand, your laptop is recognizing your tablet in APX mode otherwise easy flasher won't work. So plug it back in apex mode and click on "flash Asus stock zip" it will push stock unrooted Asus rom, WAIT for it to finish, it might take some time but WAIT!!! Once its totally finished then you can reboot into a stock ROM.... WAIT for EASY FLASHER to finish.
if you like to root again then use the same to flash recovery and superuser
Sent from my Transformer using xda app-developers app
Thank you for your reply sir. I waited but it seems the while flashing as shown on the screen the TF gets disconnected. I counter check it on the device manager and the "nvidia boot reccovery" was not showing.
It never happened to me, it takes time but it always pushed stock zip through, if that's not happening then I'm out of ideas. I'm sorry to say I'm out of ideas. But sometime back I saw some where, some one suggested a way to unbrick using ADB, I'm not not sure how to ho about it, search the forum, you might find it.. good luck
Following is the last option if nothing else helps and no one can provide you an answer then try following
Instead of flashing Asus stock ROM, Use easy flash to push twrp recovery, i know its not conventional but if you get recovery then you can flash a custom rom... GOOD LUCK

Thank you very much sir for your time and to all that replied to this problem. It really disconnects after formatting the 10th partition. I researched on how to use the ADB and that requires a lot more knowledge on programming. I will still try the last option, im crossing my fingers it will work or else ill call the asus service center her in the Philippines. Hopefully they can fx it and it wont be an expensive fix. Thanks again!

Having problems with installing recovery

I have finally been able to unlock my TF300T!!!!! But now I'm trying install TWRP or CWM so I can root and I'm having a few problems...
I've been trying this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845377 ) and I'm stuck on Part 3 step 3.
The command prompt is reading :
C:\tf300tsoftware>adb reboot bootloader
error: device not found
Then when I just plug in the tablet I can transfer any files from my pc to the table, but it will not read anything on the command prompt. Any help would be great. I've re-installed the drivers, and re-installed all of the software many times but I'm just at a loss.
Thanks again.

This sounds like you are trying to run adb, before plugging in your tablet?
Using adb generally requires your tablet to be plugged into the USB port of your PC.
Anyhow, another way to get into the boot loader is to hold the volume-down key, while switching on the tablet.
Hope that helps.

Need to know if you have the proper device drivers. You can transfer files from PC to tablet because that uses different drivers.
What happens when you type 'fastboot devices'?

You can accomplish part 3 step 3 without adb. Power tablet off. Power on by holding power and down volume till you see the bootloader menu, release both power button and down volume. Now continue with part 3 step 4.
Good Luck!

I am having the same problem. I connect the tablet and it seems to connect fine (MTP) but adb doesn't see it. When I enter the command above it just returns the next line with no results.
I loaded the Asus sync from their website which doesn't seem to have made much difference either.

Did you try to plug a USB stick into the dock's USB port? You should be able to flash from there.
Not sure about TWRP as I am currently trying Phil'z recovery (though will go back probably).
If you want to try Phil'z you can flash that via fastboot from the bootloader screen (hold vol-down).
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Awww, a pity, the dock might have helped. Oh,well.
When you are in recovery, the tablet is not recognized by your PC? You should be able to use ADB in recovery.
Have you ever used ADB before? On Windows you might need to install the "USB naked drivers", just search for that (sorry, I am a Linux user).
If "adb devices" shows your serial number and "recovery", you can run "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard", of course replacing ROM.zip with the path to your favourite ROM. Then TWRP should find that file on the internal sdcard.

As I understand it, you should install the naked drivers on your PC before plugging in your tablet. Installing the drivers on your PC does not require the device, but your PC should recognize the tablet once you have them installed. Maybe better to reboot the PC after installing the naked drivers, just to be on the safe side.
If the tablet is still not recognized, try another USB port or possibly another PC. If that won't work I am out of ideas, sorry. Never used ADB under Windows and under Linux it just works. Ahh, I remember people suggesting to run Linux in a VirtualBox and use ADB from there, might be a last resort. Maybe a Windows user looks into this thread and can help.

Weird, but sorry again, never tried myself under Windows.
Well, if you can't use ADB, can you use fastboot when you go into the bootloader menu (vol-down)?
In that case you could flash the original Asus ROM via fastboot: download, unzip twice to find the blob and use fastboot to flash that. Once you booted into that you can install recovery again and then flash your favourite ROM.
Otherwise... no adb, no fastboot, external sdcard in the slot won't work and no dock... hmm, can't think of any other options right now, sorry!

I think there are also USB adapters you can plug into the tablet without a dock, might be cheaper.
And don't despair. Another Windows user should be able to help you getting either adb or fastboot to work. Or do a little more research, there have been tips and discussions on that all over the forum. As a Linux user I just didn't pay too much attention.

Well, if the plug in the tablet is damaged, probably not, as they use the same plug. Might be your cable? A new USB/charging cable might help in that case. I also had a bad USB port in a PC once.
There are so many things involved, hardware and software. Hard to tell, where the bad link is.

Im on 2.5.0.0 TWRP, is that good ? And i have same problem as thread creator - PC didn´t recognize my tablet and i have installed android skd and adb utilities.
EDIT: microSD card works, i flash rom thanks to it. But iam scared when i restart and it wont work i didnt get back into recovery.
Thank god I made it. I formated only /sdcard data so i just install ROM from that folder and everything works properly.
