APX issue - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to get adb running to see if I can root (I have a B70). I have followed the instructions for using BRKs method, APX shows up properly, but when I try adb "devices", APX disconnects. I'm running Windoze 7 Ultimate, I have all the correct drivers, and I have tried it on a 32 bit and a 64 bit OS.....does this mean I have the new SBK?
Edit: USB debugging is enabled

Adb wont work in apx, apx is for use nvflash, try tu run nvflash in apx and see if it works.
If you have the error: usb write fail, you have the sbk v2

Ok, then it is what I've feared....I can't root...yet

FIXED
Ok I fixed it if you have Windows 7 and it says Nvidia driver you need to right click and unistall it when the window pops up make sure you check the delete driver box then reboot your computer and it works. You have to make sure you find APX under portable devices though it did not just pop up for me i had to search for it

Heimdall odin

I know heimdall has its own Drivers,
BUT! Even after I've installed drivers using every possible "mode" of the phone, I still can't get my phone to be found in download mode in Odin, only with enough screwing around am I able to get heimdall to work, and only on my MacBook. And neither in windows.

not following...I r not smart...:silly:
so you cant or able to get heimdall to work?
Can get heimdall to work, only on Mac, only after installing the drivers from heimdall, if I try it on PC it doesn't work, neither does Odin. Also, heimdall on Mac isn't very reliable.

adb cannot detect device after ics OTA update

Hello,
I did an ICS OTA update for my Atrix 2 here in India. After that I tried the mentioned root mechanism as given in the DEV section. (I was root in 2.3.6). To my utter dismay I found that adb cannot detect the device. I tried reinstalling latest Moto drivers umpteen number of times with no avail. I came across a thread which says factory reset is the only way to get it detected by adb. What a pain!
Does anyone have any other work around for this? Will be grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Sayantan
USB debugging selected?

Usb debugging is on..
(And tried all possible combinations- install drivers with usb debugging selected, deselected, machine reboot and the lot.)

Are the right moto drivers installed? If you type "adb devices" what does it say?
You need to update your drivers. If that doesn't get it immediately, reboot your pc and you'll be good to go.
I installed the latest drivers, thrice, from the link here that gives the root method in ics. (and rebooted too). Did not work. Adb devices says "no devices found".

Also I tried on two separate laptops, one with win 7 64 bit another on winxp 32 bit. Got the same result.
Please help me out.

Try another usb cable.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784689
The phone requires a factory reset. Without that it wasn't identifying itself as ADB interface.
Had to do a factory reset finally. Damn! Got adb working and rooted. Anyone tested the overclocking thing in ics? Working fine?

No usb no root please help

I have a tf101 that I rooted and everything was fine then I did a factory restore. After that it would no longer connect to pc. Comes up with the 43 error no amount of drivers will get it to pull up. I tried Ubuntu just hoping maybe it would see it. Nothing. I read downloading and updating a stock rom from Asus would fix it so I tried that now I have no usb, no root, no recovery at all. I am stuck. Any suggestions? Thank You.

Sounds like a bad USB cable.
It may charge, but it may not work for data transfer.
Did you type lsusb in Ubuntu to see if it shows nvidia. Or is it Asus. I forget. Anyway if it shows you can download the ics stock. Rom here in the forums. Then depending which sbkversion (sbk1/sbk2) you should be able to use nvflash for sbk1 or wheelie for sbk2. I think sbk2 is b80+
wheelie I think works for both. Just execute the appropriate script. Put the wheelie files in the roms folder. I assume that means you must unzip it first. I hope it works for you. Then you can root it again etc.
I forgot to mention the tablet must be in apx mode (power+volume up screen goes black) . If you have windows and not Ubuntu I think you use easyflasher. But I don't know about windows.

I bought two cables just to make sure. Still nothing.

2 suggestions:
1 - enable USB debugging in settings and see if your computer recognizes it as an ADB device.
If so, use PERI (Windows).
2 - Boot to ADB (VOL UP and POWER) and see if your computer recognizes it. If so use NVFlash or EasyFalsher (Windows)
Peri windows?

This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155
If your tablet is recognized by a windoze PC with USB debugging enabled, you can root using the PERI tool that Thing O Doom developed. The commands work on Linux, but you have to type them out manually. The .bat file only works in Windoze.
Nothing so far
Thank you for all the input so far but, still nothing. Windows will not reconize it in APX or normal mode. Ubuntu Does not either. When going into recovery all I get is the little guy on his back. I did download wlanadb and my computer will reconize it but honestly I have no idea what to do from there.

[SOLVED] Nexus 5 shows up in adb but not fastboot.

Okay so I did read up on another post about the same issue but it didn't really explain what fixed it. I only have a windows xp or vista or something computer. Its a 32 bit. I have installed and uninstalled drivers from SDK manager, manually installed Google drivers, universal drivers. All of it. I originally tried rooting using cf auto. Than tried to do it manually. That is when I realized it was a fastboot issue. I'm in fastboot mode during my attempts. Should it say fastboot USB when plugged in?

Have you endabled USB debugging under Developer options in your Settings?
Yep. More details
I have uninstalled and re installed all drivers from
lgs driver .exe
From the universal. Driver.
And google drivers
via sdk manager.exe.
I did that after i re set up android SDK in the c drive,s root. and ran the commands from directly in the platforms folder. Still my device is only seen under adb devices. Not fastboot devices. I just type in fastboot in the promt and it shows all the commands listed so I assume it has been set up.
Now it seems SDK manager won't open. A promt pops up and closes with no program open thereafter. I wanted to retry googles drivers because I uninstalled and re set up android SDK. I wanted to re download the packages and start fresh.

Google tool adb fastboot drivers xda. That should get them working

You're still thinking of HTC phones...
When in fastboot it will no change on the phone itself, you check by running 'fastboot devices' in the command prompt. If you see your serial number, it's fine. If you don't, go into Device Manager and manually update the driver
If you run 'adb devices' when connected in fastboot nothing will happen as adb is ONLY FOR WHEN ANDROID IS RUNNING (how many more times does this need to be said??).

I'm sorry eddy. It seems you misread my posts. Im not having an issue understanding the difference between adb and fastboot. Allow me to clarify. While phone is on. With USB debugging enabled. I type
adb devices
in the command prompt under platform tools.. My device shows up and I have authorized it
When my phone is in the bootloader in fastboot mode. I type
fastboot devices
Nothing. That is my issue. Feel free to scroll back up and read the details. Any help is good help

I quoted myself by mistake haha. PS
I have manually updated drivers. After uninstalling them to be clear. That's what I meant when I said I tried the universal drivers. For the record. All attempts I have made to get fastboot to recognize my device have been done using forums with detailed instructions.

Sounds like Windows isn't wanting to use the driver. Manually update the driver and point it to the *.inf file in the SDK. It should then work fine
Solved. Such a small detail. Eddy you were right. Before I could see your post I realized. Vuala! I needed to update the drivers manually with the phone plugged in in fastboot mode!. That was my mistake. Cf root did the rest.
In device manager you will see a yellow triangle under other devices when the nexus is plugged in on fastboot mode. I installed drivers from the .exe found in this thread.tool adb fastboot drivers. I let the computer search on its own for updates. Done. Rooted
