I bought my tablet with the TF201 keyboard a while back since its identical to the TF700 keyboard. It's always connected and locked, but every once in a while i notice my external mouse, which is plugged into the usb port of the keyboard, stops working due to the fact that the keyboard magically unlocks itself from the tablet. the lock bar or whatever it's called doesn't retract though so I can never tell unless I try to slightly lift the tablet away from the keyboard and lo and behold it comes right off. I noticed this tends to happen more often when the tablet is opened about 100 or so degrees from the keyboard.
Do you think I may have a faulty keyboard or has this happened to others?
Mine locks properly, so I can at least say it's not normal.
Mine locks safely too. But I do have to push relatively hard until it "clicks" into the dock and to be extra safe I tend to slide the lock slider all the way to the right.

+1. I've had my TF700 + dock since July 16, 2012. No issues as far as connections between them are concerned, though the tab sits a little loose. The clasps don't grab the tablet tightly anymore. There is some play about 5 degrees. Anyone knows how it can be tightened again?

That's the weird thing though, mine clicks and locks but i can only push the slider to the mid point.
My Transformer doesn't stay tight on the dock any more, because the tiny little clip inside the tablet itself has broken on one side (I think). The result is that it seem to clip in correctly, but then I can rotate it to the right and the left clip come free without any resistance.
I've done quick searches to find people with similar problems, but haven't found anyone else yet. Doesn't look very fixable, due to the size of the small clip. Don't know if you've got the same issue, but to check, look where the dock latches onto the tablet with a good light and see if your clips are still there.

Amazing... we both post on the same day... could be this is the start of an epidemic of broken platic clips inside the tablet section. Not sure if they are plastic or metal but they do look plastic and in any case clearly are not fit for purpose of docking/undocking dozens of times a day.
I sent mine back... see my post. They are blaming me! I barely had it 6 weeks and it never left my house. Never dropped. Only ocassionally used extra force to dock it because if you don't then the locking tab does not click!!!! SIGH
the only problem that i have with the dock is that the spring in the hinge has gotten loose

I posted in your thread as well -- locking pin snapped off yesterday. It is plastic, which makes it a Prime example <pun intended> of use of plastic in places that could do with metal. :S I'm going to take it up with ASUS Netherlands once my blood pressure comes within more or less normal limits.

We should track our own and any subsequent replies over time ... as long as it takes ... really ASUS should consider recalling these to reinforce the pins. Its highly likely some will witness their tablet fall off the dock and smash in front of their eyes... while assuming they forgot to secure it properly!
I have confirmed that It was plastic materials.
When it first happened to me about 1.5 months ago, ( at that Time, I didn't know why it was doing that)
I noticed that my Tf700 does not lock properly, doesn't make a clicking sound, doesn't hold the device in place,,,and etc.
So at that point, i decided to pull it out of the key board ( i always had it with my keyboard as it was mostly used for my university lectures)
As soon as I pulled it out, i noticed that plastic pieces about ~5mm fall out.
So as of now, my solution was to have an armour-like screen protector and skinomi carbon series (to add a bit of bulk).
It doesn't lock in, but it s enough to have friction to hold it in place a lil more nicely.
I used quite a few strips of heavy-duty doublesided tape.

Yep, I found the piece of plastic too, which is what made me look for where it came from.
I have gotten into contact with ASUS Support in the Netherlands, and without even seeing what the issue is, they said that as far as they are concerned, it is user-induced damage and therefore not covered by warranty. I am planning of getting into contact with my lawyers and just have a talk if this is something they'd be able to crack open. I'll let you guys know the outcome of said talk.

the problem i started having with my dock is ill clip it in and close it. when i come back to it and open it up the screen doesnt want to come on even if i press the power button. if anyone knows a solution for this let me know please it would be greatly appreciated.

With regards to the broken/insecure docking issue, I've posted a POLL in the transformer forum:

I would like to see how many people are affected.

When you say rotate it to the right do you mean lift the right side and turn the tablet anti-clockwise and then the left clip comes free...
or do you mean lift the left side and rotate it clockwise (right) and the left clip comes free? :cyclops:

Choice 2. My left clip is broken, so the left side can lift free. Doing so causes it to rotate clockwise (right).

On mine, both clips have degraded severely. However, the release from the dock is right side first.
Broken left clip here... I noticed it today. And I'm pissed. What a BIG FAIL from Asus. I won't even bother trying to get it repaired, it's unlocked anyway.
I was beginning to love this thing since I installed CleanROM Inheritence... It's was a nice and fast tab. Well, now it's a broken and fast tab. I'm thinking of selling it before it falls into pieces. It's sad because I love the size, the keyboard, Android, etc.
The right clip will probably fail soon too. What a let down...

When I hold my pad and have my thumbs on a border (where there is a minimal glass/chasis separation), i can feel (very slight, but still annoying) that they come apart slightly. English is not my primary language so it is hard to describe. It only happens when i hold in landscape and more on the left side (where micro sd and micro hdmi is).
Does anyone else have this? Is this normal or....
I was wondering if this is enough to replace tablet with another or is this something i am just too worried about
I think this is what we were discussing in relation to some reviews even before we got our devices.
Do you have a clicking sound when you press the screen? Mine bends a little in the place where the speaker is located (right side of the tablet)
Hey, as a matter of fact, I do.
So this is "normal"?

In a way. It has been described in some reviews and we were discussing it here. Some notice it, some don't. I wouldn't worry about having received a faulty unit if I were you, seems like many of them has this type of clicking. Doesn't affect normal use for me, as I don't feel, hear or see it unless I want to.
Agree.
But once you know its there its hard to dismiss it.
I am currently constantly testing it
It will pass i think.

When you actually use the tablet, I don't think that small separation is going to change anything.
Ive been having a similar issue to this on both of the tablets I have handled... less so with my personal one. My sisters unit has a constant click just below the sd port "when the sd port is facing left in landscape". Where on my tablet it is in about the same spot, but tends go away on its own for a while.
My only guess is that a screw was not securely tightened on the frame and gives the glass just enough leeway in the area to allow it to "tap". This is the only reason I can think of for the trouble spot to be in about the same area on most affected units.
The only other reason I can think of is that the bezel "part holding the glass to the frame" at those area's has cut outs in it for the speaker and sd slot, so little or no adhesive is put there because of the small surface area and the minimal deformity's in the glass gives it just enough room to "tap" in the area when pressure is applied.

I have the same movement but no click. I'm also getting the movement just over the left clamp hole on the bottom of the tablet while facing up. Weird.

I did try and search for this but it didn't seem to have been posted before. First of all my tablet dock has a label saying TF201 on it, is that normal?
The main issue though is that when I open the screen/tablet so that it leans back, quite often the rear of the dock seems to pry apart, and I have to squeeze the dock to clip it back together. It's not always this happens, and I'm not sure if it's just because I'm pushing the screen back too much. Should I return it or is this just normal???

The label is normal. For the second issue, when you docked your tablet, did you make sure that the lock button is slided all the way to the right? If the lock button slided to the right and your tablet stills slip out of the dock then there is a problem with the dock's locking mechanism, you should return it. It's not normal.

Its not the screen falling out, its that when i recline the screen fully the rear of the dock sometimes clicks and prises open. The tablet part is not the issue. Ill try over in tf201 land if its the same dock.
My TF700 dock does that as well. Too much weight on the back and the plastic snaps come apart. It's annoying but so far it doesn't seem to affect anything.
I had the same problem but I fixed it. I peeled off the closest rubber foot and discovered that the screw had come loose, very loose. Almost 3-5 full turns. Now, No more clicks

This! I had the same issue with my dock and after removing the rubber foots I found the screws to be loose. The two back screws were actually completely off! After screwing it tightly I never had any issues with the dock.

It seems my Keyboard dock is falling apart. I keep it well looked after, but despite that the top is coming away from the bottom on the top right corner. Is this happening to anyone else? I can get it replaced (good old john Lewis) if it gets worse, but i haven't heard of this anywhere else.

Mine was loose around the dock area. Would make a loud click if pressed, like something wasn't screwed tight.
Sent it back to Asus and they sent out a new one. You might as well get it replaced now
Odp: Keyboard falling apart?
You're not the only one. I noticed the same fault yesterday, also the top right part. I wonder if it can be fixed without sending back the device.
Guys - carefully peel off the top 2 rubber feet - carefully - you will see two lose screws fall out. :silly:
Tighten them up and I suspect your issue will be resolved.
I have no idea how this got through Asus Q&A but everyone seems to have the same problem.

Nothing here... No clicks, no loose screws, no friction, nothing..
I dropped my keyboard once...bent the metal around the power input. I had to pry it back into place to get the charger to go back in :crying: now it doesn't really fit together at the top left side near the dock. I'm really bummed out about it. I wonder if square trade would consider it as part of the infinity in my warranty.
My TF700 dock has a similar problem. The only difference is that problematic area is along the docking port. Has anyone disassembled a dock and knows whether that area is held together with screws or just some plastic tabs?
Hey all. One day when I picked my pad and dock up by the screen it just came apart. Thinking I might have hit the slider earlier I didn't think anything of it. Next time it happened I looked at the locking ports. It looks like there were little plastic tabs that swivel up and down inside there? I used a pin and moved to back to its horizontal position and didn't think anything of it. However a few weeks later the same thing happened and when I looked in there I could see those plastic tabs on the tablet anymore. Now it just slides off and is there something you can do or do I just never remove it from the poetic case I bought.

I'm not sure if this is going to help you out, but over time my dock started to hold the tablet *very* loosely. I could pull the thing out without touching the switch. I ended up putting a couple strips of electrical tape on the padding inside the clamp (stacked on top of each other). Now the connection feels as solid as ever. If something has snapped off you might be out of luck, but it's worth a shot.
FYI, I was worried at first that the tape might scuff the bezel over time. After two months it hasn't been an issue.
I have the same problem. Its a bit annoying considering the price you pay for these things.
Mine just started doing the same thing not sure tape will help in that the locking mechanism does not catch at all. Has anyone contacted asus on the issue? Haven't dealt with their support at all didn't know if it was a lost cause
Been there done that:

Hi guys, I have been using the Flip 3 for a few days and noticed that when the phone is fully folded, the two parts of the phone can move slightly.
I first noticed this when I tried to use Samsung Pay with the phone folded, and when I pushed the power button, the top part of the phone body shifted a bit.
I wonder if anyone else noticed this on their flips?
I just tried wiggling mine when it's closed but it's solid, no movement at all.

Thanks for your input. I reckon it's within normal tolerance as it is a moving part after all. It's fine to me since once the phone is open, there's no budge
I have two Flip 3. One Flip has this problem. The other not. Samsung itself only offered me to send the device back and then buy a new one.
How did you get on with Samsung on this? Mine has started doing it!
Mine does it as well. About 1 mm at the most. I'm sure this is within tolerance. Those that don't probably will at some point. It's completely normal that the hinge loosens a bit with use.
Yep tiny bit of movement so acceptable/expected I guess
No movement on mine. I got it day 1 and it's gotten some pretty heavy use.
Had mine since Sep 3rd and when there's no case on there's zero movement, though with the offical leather case the two halves have some slight play(might be due to the case providing more of a bumper along the screen).
Hey all,
Happens on mine as well.
Before this one, I had another unit for testing purposes and that wan't wasn't moving at all. Mine moves a little bit... not worried to much about it, but it's there.
Mine has a bit of play, it also has the tapping sound when running my finger across the top from what sounds like the screen Separating.
