Terrible WiFi after WiFi firmware update - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

About a week ago, I flashed the WiFi firmware update from turges thread. Ever since then I have been getting atrocious internet speeds (like less than 1mpbs down on a 20 down/5 up connection), as well as some hangs in connection. The phone shows that it is connected the whole time, but there are periods of no internet connection. I flashed different ROMs with clean wipes to no avail. All the computers in my house are not suffering from this issue. Is the WiFi firmware update permanent and does not get reset in a clean wipe? And is that even the issue?

wifi connected but no data

others on xda have asked this, but my issue is slightly different
at home i have no wifi problems at all, it connects instantly and has a fast connection
at a friend's house, i can connect to the wifi router but i actually have no throughput...i 'forgot' the network, rescanned and added with no change...i restarted the phone, took the batter out, checked all settings on the router iself, changed channel, no change
2 friends next to me could connect no problem (HTC Desire with GB ARHD, and a HTC Sensation GB stock)....and i'm sitting there with an ICS Sensation and no data throughput
i could connect to the same router on the same phone with a rooted GB ROM last week
any guesses/suggestions??

Are you running Darkforest at the moment?
Are all ICS roms the same?
Have you tried wiping cache & Dalvik?
yes I am running Darkforest...I have wiped cache + dalvik multiple times, but are you suggesting I should do that the next time I have this issue? ill try that, but how would that help?

Wifi connection time out

I just flashed BHS on my Inspire. When I go to connect to the wifi router, it shows a strong signal. However, when I select connect, the signal drops to no bars and times out. My Vivid connects fine, my Inspire connected fine before the flash. I tried it a few times and nothing doing so I decided to go back to my previous rom until I could figure it out. However, I gather something on it as well. Any ideas as to what is happening or has happened? I wod have posted this in the roms thread but it did it on 2 different roms. Could it have to do with me forgetting to full wipe prior to both flashes?

JellyBean WiFi signal

On ICS, in my room I get 3 bars when connected to WiFi and it never drops.
On any JB ROM, my phone sees the connection at 3 bars but when its connected its only 0-1 bar. 1 if I'm lucky. I'm sitting right next to my router and I'm getting only 3 bars.
I changed the WiFi region code to USA already and doesn't help at all.
Is there a radio I should flash or a modem? I'm on the latest firmware. 3.33 I believe. I'm on Bruce's cm10.
Is this a known problem?

if you are on tmous i believe wifi disconnecting\not connecting is a known issue as well as low signal on jellybean all around. U should consider urself lucky that you get any wifi connection I can't use jellybean roms because I need wifi and when I activate wifi it keeps losing signal then eventually causes my phone to reboot.
I don't get data at all on Cm roms so your doing pretty good with data and Wi-Fi.
I am however on a jelly bean rom that I received both good data and Wi-Fi. It's paranoid Android. I'm happy with that rom. It seems the others I can't get any data.best wishes

JB WiFi Issues

I just updated my AT&T One X to the 4.1.1 update. Since then, my phone will connect to the WiFi of choice but no internet connection will go through. I have tried different Wifis and resetting the router. There isn't an issue with the router for my laptop or computers. Just the One X not getting internet connection through the WiFi even though it says connected

Sounds like it's completely stock, never rooted, no custom rom or S-OFF? Is this correct? If so, you can try doing a factory reset within the rom. I know it's a pain but this may help.
Edit : Nevermind. That was a stupid question. Still not fully recovered from St Patrick's
Tehehe

Ok, so the factory reset did the trick. My wifi works again. Thank you

[Q] OTA Causing Data Issues

I was stock unrooted and i got the ota. now my data handoffs are weird. in my house were i get 3 bars of 4g lte (-100ish dbm) i now have 2 bars of 3g and it switches between 3g and 4g. it didn't do this before. i then odined back and installed the ota again and same issue. Any suggestions?
New radios won't be the same for everyone. The new one may hold 4g for somebody else, but knock you down to 3g all the time. It all depends on your location. I say give it a few days to see how it is, then go back to the olds radios (MB1).

Interestingly enough, every time I receive an OTA, I factory reset for a fresh experience ( placebo or not, it feels like dirty flashing and never seems to run as quick or as smooth). However, every time I did so on MD3, and I tried 3 times, after the reset my data would barely work. Had a signal, showed 4G, just never loaded or indicated data transfer most of the time I tried to do anything.
I wanted the update obviously, so I ended up Odin-ing back and flashing the recovery-based version. Still using LK3 and its faster and more responsive than MB1 ever has been for me. Just food for thought.
Edit: LK3 modem vs MB1 modem
