wifi connected but no data - HTC Sensation

others on xda have asked this, but my issue is slightly different
at home i have no wifi problems at all, it connects instantly and has a fast connection
at a friend's house, i can connect to the wifi router but i actually have no throughput...i 'forgot' the network, rescanned and added with no change...i restarted the phone, took the batter out, checked all settings on the router iself, changed channel, no change
2 friends next to me could connect no problem (HTC Desire with GB ARHD, and a HTC Sensation GB stock)....and i'm sitting there with an ICS Sensation and no data throughput
i could connect to the same router on the same phone with a rooted GB ROM last week
any guesses/suggestions??

Are you running Darkforest at the moment?
Are all ICS roms the same?
Have you tried wiping cache & Dalvik?

yes I am running Darkforest...I have wiped cache + dalvik multiple times, but are you suggesting I should do that the next time I have this issue? ill try that, but how would that help?

Still having very bad wifi issues.

Okay I posted a while back about this. For the past 2 weeks my wifi will connect and about 5 mins later won't load anything, but says I'm still connected. I've unplugged my router ( At&T router) and plugged it back in, no difference. I had att replace the router today and still having the same problem. I have it on wpa. I need to fix this, I run everything through my phone and this is really affecting my day to day. Any advice?
Infuse running infused v2.0.2.
If you're still using the stock ROM like I am, I'm finding the WiFi reception on my Infuse to be the worst I've ever experienced on any phone I've ever had. Lets hope the Gingerbread update fixes it.

Download wifi analyzer from the market and look see if there are several wifi networks on the same channel as your wifi. If so, change the channel on your router and see if that helps.
Also, what's the model on your router?
Even I've faced this issue ever since I got the phone but still there's no fix.
The problem is with a particular make of the router. I read online about it and there are more than 2 problems here.
1. If the router is a multiprotocol - bgn router, it might be a problem if the router is running in mixed mode. Our phone supports only b and g. In any case, if u enter the MAC address of ur phone into ur router, it might solve the problem.
2. If the router is not broadcasting the SSID i.e in hidden SSID mode, there might be wifi issues. Change the settings to remove the hidden SSID.
3. There is a PSP mode (Power save polling) mode in the hardware which will put the wifi to sleep if the phone goes to sleep (It is different than the wifi sleep policy) If the phone goes to this mode, some routers wont be able to send packets to the phone and this causes wifi to get disconnected.
If you try to connect to a public wifi, u should be able to connect. I guess the problem is only in ur home. I have the same problem but sadly i cant change any router settings since I stay in a university dorm...
Hope this helps!

Wanted to say I have a Verizon Actionteck router with FIOS and I am having the same issue with my Samsung Infuse 4G, only I am not using WPA I am using WPA2. I have to restart my device and then the device will work. Currently with WPA2 and I hide the SID and have the setting "Connect even when not broadcasting" enabled.
Thoughts ? I still have the 2.2 OS yes rooted.

Wifi connection time out

I just flashed BHS on my Inspire. When I go to connect to the wifi router, it shows a strong signal. However, when I select connect, the signal drops to no bars and times out. My Vivid connects fine, my Inspire connected fine before the flash. I tried it a few times and nothing doing so I decided to go back to my previous rom until I could figure it out. However, I gather something on it as well. Any ideas as to what is happening or has happened? I wod have posted this in the roms thread but it did it on 2 different roms. Could it have to do with me forgetting to full wipe prior to both flashes?

[Q] HTC inspire 4g wifi is always out of range not working

A couple days ago I had used my rooted inspire with rcremix Rom to setup my old netgear wgt64v4 router to my cable modem and as believe this was last time the WiFi functioned normally. It tells me no networks in range and scans for a second or two then stops with no networks in range. I'm not sure what to check other than being enabled and trying to scan. I'm now running trick droid Rom. I grateful for any help or suggestions.

Terrible WiFi after WiFi firmware update

About a week ago, I flashed the WiFi firmware update from turges thread. Ever since then I have been getting atrocious internet speeds (like less than 1mpbs down on a 20 down/5 up connection), as well as some hangs in connection. The phone shows that it is connected the whole time, but there are periods of no internet connection. I flashed different ROMs with clean wipes to no avail. All the computers in my house are not suffering from this issue. Is the WiFi firmware update permanent and does not get reset in a clean wipe? And is that even the issue?

JB WiFi Issues

I just updated my AT&T One X to the 4.1.1 update. Since then, my phone will connect to the WiFi of choice but no internet connection will go through. I have tried different Wifis and resetting the router. There isn't an issue with the router for my laptop or computers. Just the One X not getting internet connection through the WiFi even though it says connected

Sounds like it's completely stock, never rooted, no custom rom or S-OFF? Is this correct? If so, you can try doing a factory reset within the rom. I know it's a pain but this may help.
Edit : Nevermind. That was a stupid question. Still not fully recovered from St Patrick's
Tehehe

Ok, so the factory reset did the trick. My wifi works again. Thank you
