Company just ordered a few First Gen Xoom's, which I will be modding. Curious to know what everyone would recommend for a most current Everest ROM for US Cdma Verizon Xoom 3g.
Any feedback would be much appreciated!
Everest is gsm 3g, so generally Europe. You want stingray, which is cdma US xooms. CyanogenMod personally I'd recommend. But EOS provide excellent xoom roms

Lol. Thanks for that clarification.

Last week I purchased a XOOM from a local importer (way less expensive than our telco's), but im not exactly sure what region its from.
Model : MZ601
Firmware Configuration Version : GAS_ASIA_USAEVRSTURTIRD_P037
Build Number: H.6.5-17-1
Has 32gb, 3g + WiFi , and also came with a UK power plug.
If anyone could identify what region my XOOM is from, or if its one of the GED models I've heard of (but im doubting its GED, I think they are just USA?
If I can find out where its from etc, then id know whether to wait for an official XOOM ICS update ofr it, or root & flash something custom.
Any help, greatly appreciated.
Thats a EU 3G Xoom.
And it likely won't be recieveing ICS from motorola or google for a while.

I suapected it was a uk model, but the firmware naming had me unsure. I had a look at the motorola xoom support site which lists the stock firmwares (always good to have a backup of stock just incase) but not sure which to download.
Us it worrh waitinf on stock for official ics, or is there a particular custom ics thats really worth flashing? ( bearing in mind im not that fussed on 3g capabilities at this stage.)

OK, so I finally flashed a custom rom. I was happy for the beginning of it. Then after using the browser for a while I noticed that sometimes when I try to go back to a page, it won't go back. It will reload the current page which is quite annoying. Now what I really wanted to ask is whether there is a Stock Jelly Bean rom with root available for the UK MZ604 Wifi only model? I'm guessing that in the Stock Jelly Bean there shouldn't be any minor bugs at all, right?
Any help at all would be appreciated.

So sorry but isn't that for the US Wifi Xoom as it states in the thread? Or is it compatible with all the WiFi versions?
which rom did u flash? on eos 3.0 i dont have this problem
Hey.
EOS V3 stable release wasn't good on my UK wifi only Xoom, however V2 EOS is great so I went back to it.
I found web based videos were slowing down and jerky, also some web pages loaded greyed out almost which was annoying.

It is officially for US WiFi MZ604. But it works on all MZ604s, I have flashed it on mine (a month or so back). I have a UK MZ604

From what I recall it ran perfectly, I just prefer custom roms for the features

Is it possible to rum my zoom on AT&T simm. Running latest EOS stingray build. Get simm from unknown source error. Thanks in advance. Want to use use 10$ shared data plan for emergency infrequent use.
Ok. I think the answer is no, note with Verizon radio. I would need a GSM radio. Can anyone confirm?

Yeah. Also, see this thread for more information. I've been considering it, and since I'm headed to Australia soon might get it done sooner than later.
Please post all questions in the Q & A section. Thanks! Thread moved.

I never got my Xoom updated for 4g. It seems there is no development for MZ600. Two questions:
1. What roms work for my Xoom?
2. Is there a method for me to upgrade to 4g?
Thanks.
Basically you have options
I converted my xoom to mz604 (wifi only) to get all updates pushed from google, latest 4.1.2.
Or you can unlock bootloader, fladh custom recovery and flash any of the wingray and stingray (make sure stingray supports 3g).
I never activated my 3g, nor did i upgrade it. My current setup is in my sig at the bottom.
Everything is in this forum that you need to know....good luck.

Yes. I restored my backup until I figure something out.
Hey all,
To be brief, my wife is mostly done using her Xoom 1, which means I can get my greedy hands on it to root/mod it etc.
My understanding at reading this forum is that there are several different versions of xoom (stingray, wingray etc.) And that my ROM I download needs to match it. My understanding is that I have a stingray which is a Verizon LTE one. My question is that since my 2 year contract is up, I will be discontinuing the network and only using the device on wifi - in doing so, does my device become a wingray or something else now? or should I plan on downloading and flashing some stingray rom even if I don't use the LTE?
I also saw that safestrap 3.1 was created, but the post I saw was specifically for the Xoom 2. I'm very used to and love this version of recovery from using it with my Bionic, and wanted to know if its compatible with the Xoom 1? Or do I need to use a different recovery? If so, which.
Sorry if these have been answered, but I didn't see the answers if so. And thanks a ton in advance.

It's still a stingray, it's possible to install wingray on it, but it's generally more trouble than it's worth if there are both stingray and wingray roms for the rom you want.
You probably want TWRP (touch enabled and the current version is recommended for the latest EOS builds,) for your recovery (nothing for the Xoom 2 is compatible with the original Xoom unless it specifically says it is, they are completely different.)
Very speedy and to the point! One of the many reasons I love the users on this forum! Thanks so much!
