Hey guys,
My apologies if this is in the wrong section.
I was hoping someone could tell me/direct me to a unlock screen launcher or theme or something.
The unlock screen of my phone (Xperia Arc S 4.0) is incredibly ugly. I like having my phone protected though, usually by a 4 digit code or something but (call me ridiculous) the fact that I need to unlock my phone on this incredibly ugly unlock screen really puts me off the whole thing.
Basically what im looking for is to replace the digit lock screen with a different one (pattern is not worth it since its too easily guessed).
Is there any way I could make the screen which unlocks my SIM (which looks nice) unlock my phone too?
The best of course would be something like that but with out having to press OK at the end. (A bit like on the iFail where when you type the passcode correctly it unlocks with out making you press ok)
If anyone knows of something like this I would really appreciate a link or the name of the app or so.
Thanks!

If u want to simple n neat app as a screen locker, ill suggest Holo Locker

How can I disable it, Every time I unlock the phone with the lock ring pull up, the entire screen spins around meaning I have to wait a second before being able to do anything. I have disabled animation but can't find anything anywhere about it !!!!!!!!
I don't think you can.
That's what I am thinking, might have to lock the phone whilst off the carousel, as that's the only time it doesn't spin around.
Choose another launcher ( I use ADW EX, the paid version is snappy and neato!) and then use Titanium Backup to freeze Sense. Whammo!
Matt
I have never ventured onto a different launcher, waiting to catch up with a friend who swears by launchers. Will take things from there. But would be nice to disable this spinning....

Its pretty simple to do...Go to the market, DL ADW EX (paid version is a few bucks and well worth it). Set it as your default (it will ask you when you try to return to the homescreen. If you are rooted and have Titanium, look for Sense and freeze it. DONT remove it!
If you have decided to do that, post back and I will tell you how to set up ADW ex for speed.

Okay I've been viewing and using the forums for a while, but never had a reason to join until now. I've had my HTC one X for over a month and in that time frame I've managed to accidentally call 911 over 8 times (all inside my jean pocket, even 3 times in 1 day). Is there any mod to disable emergency call or remove the emergency contact of 911 from the list when its locked and the button is pushed inside my pocket? I've searched everywhere and can't find a fix. I've even edited my build.prop to read "ro.ril.oem.ecclist=123" instead of "=911". I know there has to be a way to fix this issue but I haven't been able to find it.
I was going to post in the development section but because I just joined I'm unable to post in that thread.
FYI: I"m rooted, unlocked bootloader, CWM, and running CleanRom 3.0.
Please somebody!
Anyone? I really need help on this one, I'm afraid of getting into some serious trouble if I can't fix this issue. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Ohh I get it, you use a security lock.
Do not use a security lock?
With the standard lock screen(security lock set to none) there is no emergency dial button.
Other thought though is to buy a flip cover so when the phone is in your pocket the entire screen will be blocked by the cover?
You can buy them online for just a few dollars.
How do you do this? Even with the emergency dial button, it asks you to input the number.

Those are both good suggestions, but I'm kind of a security nut, and I'd hate to cover up this gorgeous phone. I took my case back because I hated covering it up, but maybe I can find something nice on Amazon. Thank you for the reply.

There's my issue, it brings you to a dialpad but it also has 911 as an emergency contact at the top of the screen. Even if my pocket dials an insane string of numbers, if it ever touches that top contact or I touch it as I'm pulling it out because it's vibrating and I'm at work, it automatically dials 911. I just thought there was a way to remove that contact.
Just to be complete, also consider a pouch. That way you can just slide it in and out as required. Better suited to car mounts and keeping the phone slim
You have to compromise somewhere...Either keep dialing 911 and eventually get your number blacklisted by them or get in trouble OR stop using the security lock screen. Simple as that, seeing that you don't want to cover the screen with anything.

You've overlooked option #3: Learn how to develop for android, and make my own mod to solve my issue. Anything is possible and I think it's my only option left, If anyone knows any of the specific files, folders, or APK's that may be in question please let me know. Other than that I'm off on a wild goose chase that I hope I'm able win. Wish me luck!

With.mine using a pin.lock, you have to.unlock the normal screen, then the emergency dial pops up. Which way do you have you phone in your pocket, like screen in or out?

Screen towards my thigh, maybe my jeans are too tight. lol
Well my update for the night (if anyone is interested) is I browsed through the .apk's in cleanrom 3.0 and unzipped 5 of them that had relevant names: DialerLauncher, HTCDialer+, Idlescreenbase, Phone, and Phonesky. Opened up the .dex files in those with notepad just to take a peek at what's readable. found a lot of interesting things in Phone and Dialers. Just went into adb and dexdumped those to read through them all without all the formatting issues in notepad. I'm so new to all this that I have no idea if I'm on the right path or not, but it seems like solid progress to me. Gotta hit the hay though it's 2am, I'll try more tomorrow. Take care everyone and feel free to leave me any suggestions (or encouragement at this point)!
Warning!
I don't recommend dexdumping phone or phonesky! I sure hope my answer isn't in there it's MASSSIVE! Also thank you Corythug for the encouragement lol

I considered this but because other screens have cracked and died from sharp table edges with the screen facing out I prefer not to store my phones screen out.
Flashed my DS with ICS and thought the face unlock function was great.
One of my friends mentioned that it would work with a photo of my face.
All we did was take anphoto of my face and lined the camera up with the other screen and removed the glare and the phone unlocked.
Its a great function but not as safe as i had hoped.

Is that just to prove that it is a living person? And not a photo?
While on this topic can someone explain the Samsung S3 thing were it unlocks when you look at it or something?

Basic face unlock is the same (without wink), but there is also a second option with face and voice, but I can't tell how safe it is and if it can be tricked with a picture and an audio record (have vpn set up and can't change to this unlock method).
But I guess it is still not as save as pattern, pin or password (this 3 are at least those I still can choose from).
About the wink within the gnex, sure safer, but still can be tricked with a video I guess.

Sliding a ring to the center of the screen is much safer method, for sure!
Pattern unlock can also normally be guessed from looking at the greasy smudges onscreen!

If there is many overlapping it's not that easy, pin and password can also be easily cracked if you use your birthday or name of your kid I.e.
In the end every method can be cracked, but at pattern, pin and password you at least are able to make it safer while using complex pass keys.
But sure your right that password and pin are the safest methods when they are used in a safe way.

Are u trying to hide porn from ur girlfriend? Lol jk. Sorry
I used to put a password but then after getting a data plan and included in a few group chat, they lock just seem like an additional unescessary option.
Unless ofcourse ur're a type of person who has a habit of leaving the phone around or have friends who will use ur phone facebook account to make random embarrassing post and have sensitive password inside then it is a must.

Yes my friends do like to make messed up jokes like that.
But as they said with the patern if you overlap your path its not as easy to see and you can make it invisible then it only shows the wrong patterns entered.
I have a nice function on my phone tjat when someone enters the pattern or password in and its wrong three times in a row it takes a photo with the front facing camera and emails it to my email account. Did that with a app called cerberus
http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.lsdroid.cerberus . Its like the ultimate security app for android phones.
It does more than what I've mentioned.

Hi,
After noticing that ICS has owner info on the lock screen I thought about it and decided to edit my lock screen wallpaper.
Since it is a transparent image, it shows whatever launcher wallpaper I have underneath.
What is a suitable ammount of information to put on this?
I have attached a screen shot of my current effort.
Thanks.
It's all about personal preference to be honest. Whatever amount you feel comfortable with, is the right amount for you.
I, for example, have nothing but a wallpaper and unlock slider.

Just put your name, address, and e-mail
It will help you if you lost your phone...D
Or you can write everything that come to your mind
I was kind of wondering if putting home address on lock screen info was advised?

I personally wouldn't suggest having your address on there. Maybe just name, email and another contact number incase you lose it, someone will know to contact you on the backup number.
But it's all about what info you feel comfortable having on there really.

Yeah exactly. Having an address on there could be more risky, in my opinion.

I would just keep it simple, with the text:
If found, call **********, thank you
Then you will be able to give the finder your adress or something.
I just have a message on my splash screen:
Put a weather widget too.
P.S. Don't give too much info about yourself.
I ended up sticking with the screen shot in the first post :good:
The simple the best!!!
I like it very simple...
Hour
Time
City
But I agree that at least it would be good to avoid putting personal information on it
Music control
Personally I just put a beautiful wallpaper, with hour, the weather (with icon and small text) and music app control whih is very useful when I use Spotify in transport for example.

Mind telling how to get an unlock slider on ICS??
I kinda don't like that ring design much.....
I just picked up an M8 today. Haven't played around much yet, but do have some questions regarding the lockscreen. Is there a way to completely remove shortcuts and swipe direction functionality from the lockscreen? I really just want the unlock icon and the only thing to happen when i swipe it is for it to take me to my pin keypad. I've seen similar posts with no solution to do so. Some state that they will be whatever shortcuts are on my homescreen. I know i will be running unrooted for a few months so no custom lockscreens for me yet. Thanks in advance!
bump
i was playing around with my girlfriend's note2 and hers does this too. i think i just am so used to having a custom lockscreen that i dont remember having these shortcuts. not sure...
Do a Google search for HTC aosp lockscreen. I saw a how-to near the top of results
ah, saw those. have to be rooted though. i'm giving my phone at least a month or 2 stock before i root. maybe... thanks though!
