[Q] Can't Change Notification Sounds - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently reset my TF101, running stock, unrooted ICS. In Settings>Sounds, the only notification sound I can change is the "General" notification. I seem to recall that when I first set up the TF101 (running Honeycomb), there were options to change the sounds for a number of notifications.
Am I missing something? Did this capability go away in ICS, but I didn't realize it?

[Q] TouchWiz Custom Vibrations

I just got a new samsung captivate and have been enjoying it so far.
I saw on a forum that on most android phones you can go to
Settings --> Notification Settings --> Vibrate Pattern --> Custom
and give people custom vibrations patterns when they call.
I went to try it out but TouchWiz doesn't have a Notification Settings option in the normal Settings area. Am I missing something? Is there any way I can set custom vibration patterns on TouchWiz?
Thanks,
Michael

Notifications bar

I know Asus probably felt like they just had to bring their contribution to ICS, but the minute I saw the noticiations bar I realised this just couldn't have made by Google (too ugly, doesn't fit in and laggier than the stock one). So is there any way to get the stock ICS notifications back?
Maybe you should take a look at the settings before asking a stupid question like this.
lol would anyone like me to port these to ics?

Go into settings, select ASUS customized setting, then under notification panel uncheck Use ASUS Quick Setting.
After this it shows the old honeycomb notifications bar, what i dont unterstand is, why you can't deactive notifications in the new asus bar.
To remove all notifications, tap the X at the bottom of the notification screen.
To remove one notification, swipe from left to right on that notification and it is gone.
I don't mind it tbh.

[Q] Change Messaging notification back to default?

Recently purchased a (used) HTC Inspire, looks like running Android 2.3.3.
Apparently, the previous user had changed the Notification sound specifically within Messaging, and so when I change the general System Notification sound, the sound within Messaging doesn't change with it.
Is there a simple way to return the Notification within Messaging back to Default (so it responds to/with changes to the main System Notification)?
Thanks in advance.
Bump, I was going to post about the same thing but it seems there's already a post, I might as well bump it to get someone to answer.

Won't get a notification and/or vibration when I get a message

It has been like this for awhile, but it hasn't really been bothering me I guess until now I realized the importance of it, which I should of done this long ago cause it's been like this for a couple of months. Notifications are on, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
So, with notiication, do you mean just the sound and vibration? Or also the message in the upper tray?
It's not much information. So here are some possibilities:
- you have installed a skin and have not selected any sounds.
- in the accessability men you have set: play no sounds/feedback at all (it's for deaf people)
- You have some kind of do not disturb mode on, without the notification in the tray saying so.
- You have backgrond syncing of, and now apps only sync when you use them. So you get no notification.
- sound settings and vibration settings are off (not likely of course)
- the phone is instructed to play notifications to another device (watch or some other bluetooth device)
- your phone is not working properly. Try to restore to factory default and see if it is something in the software, or hardware. If not working after reset, ==> waranty
EDIT: in the title you say: when I get a message. you mean text message? NOtification sounds can be changed. Sms messages can have their own sounds en settings. It's in the sound menu.

Alright this may help or not, but let's say you message me thru the default standard messaging thru the phone. Usually, the recipient would get a notification of that message, shortly after being sent depending on the area's signal. I, however do not get a notification, vibration, ring, I do not get anything that notifies me in any way that I got that message, so I could being doing whatever on my phone, receive an important message about work or something, and never know about it. However I do have Smart Launcher and the messaging icon does have notification numbers to the top left of it, but that doesn't help really.

Where did you check if notifications were enabled. In settings AND in the app itself? you can also try to clear cache and storage of the app.
Ok I'm dumb notifications were on when I went thru messaging, but when I went thru the application manager they weren't on. Honestly don't remember how that'd happened, but thanks for the help bro.

How to assign Message tone to a contact in Galaxy S7

Hi, I am trying to assign a message sound/tone that specific contacts as you would do without the the ringer to be. I can't find 'message tone' under settings. any suggestions. Thanks

It's not called "message tone" it's called "notifications" under the sound settings. However there is no option for you to do what your asking with Stock firmware you'll need to find a custom Rom to have this option. I think Lineage Rom let's you do this.
Has this been removed in android 8 or is this samsug s7? (i don't have this phpne longtime yet, bought it 2nd hand for my car that has android auto) there used to be an option in sound settings that had 4 options like email, sms messages and 2 more, you could change the notification sound over there and in sms app there was also an option in the settings to change the sound of receiving an sms but i can't seem to find it ?
EDIT nevermind found it, its in messages app/settings/notifications/general notifications

I think you've misunderstood the OP, notification for a specific contact like your mother in law or something. Ive only ever seen this in a custom ROM.

That used to be in android by default also.
I charged my old samsung s4, it has kitkat 4.4 stock rooted firmware and in there you can select a different ringtone, sms notification sound and vibrate pattern for every contact.
Edit, i just checked my samsung A5 which has android 7 and the option to change the notification sound for text messages was still there in android 7
