I have a European LG P500. The problem I have is that no matter what SIM I try to put in it, it always says "No Service". I'm thinking it is either the card reader or a sim lock at this point. Before I spend 10 euro on an unlock code, is there a way to check if it is locked to a certain company for sure? Is there any other reason as to why this phone says "No Service" no matter what. By the way, I have rooted and flashed the device with no results. Would changing basebands help? Where can I find 64 bit drivers?
thanks in advance
There is fix below in my signature. Flash the first link.
If you stil face this issue.. download the first link.. unzip and and paste it in /system/lib using root explorer.
Mount r/w in root explorer.
After pasting 3 libs.. set permission x.x.-, x.-.-, x.-.-.
PM if you have doubts.
I have already flashed this zip. I downloaded and flashed cyanogen mod 7, and this fix was listed there for the older baseband users. The problem is, this phone didn't read sims even before I flashed it. It has nothing to do with the rom. I can safely conclude it's either the baseband or some other part of the firmware, the sim reader, or an internal hard-coded sim lock. Please help Thank you
I updated the baseband to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and now it acknowledges the sim but it insists that I am making calls "outside of service area". In other words I cannot make any calls. I take it this is its way of saying i'm simlocked to a certain carrier. can anyone confirm or disprove this?
Check if you have balance to make calls.
Check with other sim cards.
Stil you face this problem.. you need to get ALL GSM unlock code. Search.
To use the unlock codes.. you need to flash a stock rom.

Did you try inserting "a SIM card not attached to your current provider (e.g if you have T-mob use an ATT SIM CARD) and turn on your phone?" (credit sanfranx415 post) edit: maybe try a different gsm carrier in the same country you reside.
From what I have read and understand different versions of busybox will work or are compatible for different things (maybe somebody will tell me if that is not accurate).
Here is a video that might help.
Good luck!
Try contacting t mobile and tell them your going overseas for a few months and want to take your phone with you and is there a way to unlock it so it can be used in another country.

When you insert the sim card and power up the phone, as you unlock it it should give you a network lock screen that only lets you use the phone after inputting the unlock code.
ok so heres the deal. i have a lg spectrum (lg vs920) i have rooted and installed a custom rom. Now that i have done this am i able to use any sim card in it? i would like to go with simple mobile but dont know if i have to do anything else.
thanks for any help
I think SIM Lock is something else. I think it still has to be removed, although now that you're root, it is likely to be trivial.
Why don't you check first, by trying to boot with a SIM card from another provider (active one). If locked, it will ask you to enter a "subsidy code".
EDIT: Nevermind, I called ATT to double check and they gave me a different code that worked. Sorry for the post.
I know this gets asked alot, but the information, situations, and answers out there are so many it is difficult to determine what needs to be done, so I am hoping someone can at least point me in the right direction.
I had unlocked my bootloader using htcdev, installed 4ext recovery, and flashed latest Cyanogenmod. I have been wanting to switch to T-mobile (I know about the possibility of not having 4g with that) and come to find out, entering the Network PUK code doesnt work in Cyanogen..
I gleaned that I needed to re-flash stock rom and then try to unlock, but I did this, and it still isnt accepting the code, argh. Do I need to relock my bootloader or do anything special? I got this code straight from ATT. With the ATT SIM in the phone, it doesnt ask for it, I restart phone with my T-mobile SIM in, and it asks for the code, but always says its incorrect. How is it checking this anyway, as it doenst seem to be communicating over the mobile network.
Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.
So as well as my issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/help/cust-fail-reset-please-help-t2988366
I'm also having a bigger one- the SIM card isnt being recognised. I think this is because of flashing the wrong rom (seems a few people here have been misguided into doing that)-
and now it doesnt work at all with a sim card in it. It's not a physical issue.
I have a feeling the baseband is wrong for the UK - this is the L09 with only 1 sim slot I think, currently running build:
MT7-L09V100R001C00B121SPO5
The baseband is 21.213.00.00.031
When I try 'fastboot flash radio/modem modem.img' from the extracted dload it just returns a 'FAILED (remote: Command not allowed).
I tried renaming the modem.img to radio.img just to see, and that didnt work either.
The bootloader is unlocked, before you ask
Please please help, it's all going wrong, do I have a bricked phone here?
Could be a physical issue. The tray terminals might have separated due to forceful insertion of the sim? My one sim is also not working. I took to service center and they told me that that the tray terminals have been damaged. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure the sim tray is fine, I quoted the baseband on the hope someone would at least tell me if that works in the UK or not? Is anyone able to point out some things to look for?
Any head way on this subject...... I am in country in Africa at the moment and stuck/pissed with my phone... lol
Sorry, no headway - I ended up sending mine into Huawei. There needs to be clearer warning about this all over the Mate 7 forum methinks - unlocking the bootloader and gaining root access does NOT gain you 'full' access to ever part of the phone - it's very locked down and flawed. You also can't relock the phone without it leaving a bit 'relocked' text in red. So, unlike other phones were you can sort of 'revalidate' your warranty to an extent, once you root this phone etc you can't go back.
Hello there, I am not new to xda but this is my first post. I've a question regarding my M8 Verizon bought from ebay. Its been a year now and everything was going well since one day I accidentally did s-on and locked the bootloader while using HTC ONE M8 Toolkit by Squabbi.
Then I again s-off'd my device using Sunshine method (firewater didn't worked as it was discontinued). So I paid 1600₹ to get my device s-off'd and unlocked bootloader. But since then I am unable to use any Indian sim whether airtel, idea or any other. I tried many possible solutions found on the internet as well as here on xda. Like I flashed firmware (old and new both), flashed radio firmware files old and new both but no luck. Either I restored my device to stock Verizon rom using the RUU provided by Dottat. But I couldn't find any luck and I'm still unable to use my sim card. My phone is unable to detect it. My device doesn't even pops up any notification for sim card now. Please Help. :crying:
Is there any solution for this? I'm in a need of this.
Waiting to be helped as soon as possible.
Hi,
I do not know if same pb...
Phone is working fine on Lollipop on european Gsm/LTE (sometimes going back to cdma by itself, a bit boring), and is asking for SIM pin number.
When going to marshmallow (by RUU or by OTA) the sim is deribed to be absent or invadid, and It did ask for the SIM pin number
I did not find any clue...
regards
After a lot of tries, it finally worked. And the sim is now detected. Thanks to Me.

I disassembled my M8, then replaced the sim reader inside the phone, then removed and reinserted the flex on the board. Then turned on the phone, and edited the system file located inside root/system/customize/ACC/default.xml to change the value of sku_id and region located at last in the file default.xml
You can search on google for SKU LIST XDA. It will show you the list for all regions.
