Hey all,
recently I have encountered a rather big and annoying problem on my phone. It has to do with my battery. I've looked it up on xda, but nothing was really exactly like my problem.
The problem is that my battery level has gone absolutely crazy.
First, charging my phone takes many many hours. After around 5 hours it still wasn't fully charged.
Then when rebooting the phone, it magically said 100%. However, after this the phone drained extremely fast. Think around 20 percent per hour, while using it normally!
Secondly, around 40 percent the phone automatically turned off, without the usual HTC logo. When I turn it on again the battery level is suddenly 2 %. After a few times turning off and on the battery level goes up to 30 percent. This can be seen very well on the pictures.
The phone is 1,5 years old and I haven't installed a custom ROM.
Am I dealing with a broken battery or is the problem in the software?
Hi,
I'm not an expert, but I think your battery is exhausted.
But before you run buying another battery...
What charger are you using? Stock HTC or custom? If custom, what are the Voltage/Current output values?
probably your battery is dying as the above user said
or the battery it doesn't connect properly
check it

While reading on some forums about a better battery for the Sensation I haven't encountered Mugen, only Anker, which has some good reviews.

By how much it is better than the stock battery? After how much you need to recharge it in both moderate and heavy usage?

Yep, me too. One thing I have noticed about batteries (cheap extra ones or the originals) is that if they give any kind problem I clean the contacts. I use the pointy end of a penknife or similar to carefully scrape the surface clean. same goes for both the phone and charger contacts.

Anyone got more info? Just bought this battery for thr o3x.
Use this battery now for weeks and it seems as it is a lil improved battery life wise. From a 10 hour use I could squeeze with those battery pack 12 to 15 hours. Still not acceptable but hey 2hours more is 2 hours more

Is this battery safe for the phone
Is this battery safe for the phone circuit? I mean damage caused by over current or over voltage? Does the battery comes with any warranty? Definitely the battery warranty should not cover damage caused by battery to the phone? I do not want to put my phone in risk for just some extra time.

Don't know if I just got a bad battery or what, but I bought one of these and the battery life is aboslutely terrible. I put it in the phone, left it switched off and charging for a solid 8 hours, then tried to use it. With Bluetooth on, WiFi off and the phone just sitting in standby it barely lasted 6-7 hours before I was getting battery warnings. I let it charge up again, thinking it might take a few charges/discharges for the battery to work correctly, but the next discharge was even shorter!
Did you wipe your battery stats when you changed for different sized batteries ?
I keep having the phone turn off when I unplug it from my charger or if I don't hold the cord the right way it powers off. Now I checked the cable and the phone, the connector is fine. The other problem is I check the power level and the battery is at 100% but the moment it's unplugged it powers off again. So I replaced the battery and checked the contact pins to the battery and it's both good also.....so I am not sure what the next step is?
Can anyone please help? Also the phones never been dropped or gotten wet.
I know they keep saying that it shouldn't matter, but... might want to grab a battery calibration app or delete the battery info yourself. Alternatively, with the phone off, try to charge the battery.
Could be that the phone believes the battery is full when it's actually bone dry, and because it's disabled the charging, you're stuck whenever you aren't plugged in.
Bad battery? Is it swollen and puffy?

No, battery is good. I think the person above maybe right, if the battery is not charging because the phone is saying it's full when it's empty.

You should try to wipe youre battery with some app, just google it, ive seen much of them.
I would suggest something like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
Especially since it's free. Which beats any app with 'paid' in the internal name. But hey, if you have money to throw around, the other app does claim it knows what the real level is even without wiping it.

Okay. Here's one that says it works without root and is free. Ad supported, but how long after it's done are you going to keep the calibration app?

That is exactly the cause. On my stock battery, it got all puffy and I kept getting random reboots and extremely fast battery drains. It definately is the battery and you should get it replaced. Try out this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KVTNYE/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00. Its really good

Thanks! That's kind of a relief, I thought it was a problem with the software. Hey would the battery you're suggesting need an extended cover to accommodate the size because I believe our native battery capacity is 1600 mAh.
Our native OEM battery came with 1650 mah. I recommend buying the same (just did in eBay for 8$) instead of some untrusted manufacturer sh$t.

Hi everyone. I'm a bit of a noob but anyway I wanted to buy the following battery from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230803704348?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
I was wondering if anyone has a similar battery and if they noticed any improvements over the stock 1450mAh battery
Thanks
To be honest they could write 2500mAh and atill it can be worse than the stock one. For me it looks like a risky business.

Right. I've got a problem. The extended battery won't charge and I get a warning message saying the battery is using more power than the charger can provide, I've tried with 4 different chargers and it won't charge but the stock battery is fine. If it's on it just stops charging and when it's off, I just get an orange flashing light. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi, I found your post simply because I ran across the exact same battery and just as you was thinking of buying it.
I was wondering if you had any luck resolving your issues with charging the battery? And if not, did you also remove the yellow tape near the electrode, as they write in the ebay add? Because to me that sounds like the kind of thing that might screw up the charging otherwise...
Cheers.

I can't remember how much I paid but it's excellent. Check the Accessories section, I made a thread there
I bought a "Polarcell" battery on ebay and have a real good experience with it. It says 1600mAh. With Jelly Bean (MIUIzero) and the new battery my phone now always runs for a whole day sometimes 1.5 days. This really surprised me because on some early JB roms and with the old battery the phone was always dead in the evening.
hi fellas,
i have a sensation z710
i have random shuwdown problem for a while.
i tried different roms, different kernels, firmware update, battery calibration. i put a piece of paper on the bottom of battery
but i still have same problem.
and i noticed that when phone has %70-80 charge and when it shut down, after i start it again, it says low battery and shows %10-15 battery.
i wanted to try another battery but i dont want to spend money for that before i would be sure, problem is my battery.
is there any thing ı can do to fix this problem?
thanks for helping

YES! Please get Anker Battery from eBay or Amazon. It will make your life more easier

battery lifetime does not only depend on age, but also on usage.
for my knowledge (correct me if i am wrong) lion batteries suffer age and heat (so usage in my opinion has a little impact only). i received my htc sensation some mounths ago from my brother that changed phone and the battery was swollen. in fact the phone shuts down very much. i have an anker battery from some days and the problem disappeared check if he battery is swollen, if yes change it!

They are affected by chage and discharge as well. The charge and discharge is hard on the battery and causes it to wear out. But that's also how you use it. So basically using it wears it out. Same as car tires. They will last a long time if you keep the car parked. But the more you drive the faster the tires wear out.

Hi, I'm also looking into this. How did it work out for you?
I just installed the battery Neozen21 mentioned today. Went in without problems. It was 62% charged right out of the box, so I suspect it is fairly fresh.
It took much longer to charge than the old one did, so I have high hopes that the original capacity has been restored.

A fresh quality battery in these Galaxy tabs takes twice the time to charge the first time they are run straight out of the box. After that, the charge will settle to normal, especially if you charge/discharge properly as much as is possible.

All credit to Neozen21 if this turns out to be the real deal -- which leads me to the point: How is it working out? I find the best test of a decent twin cell solution (like the battery in the S 10.5) is to turn it off, charge to 100%, disconnect the charger and then see how much charge the battery reports if you power it on (or reconnect the charger) after 1 day. If it reports anything less than 99%, it's going to drain abnormally quickly.

It seems to be marginally better, although not dramatically so.
I've run AccuBattery Pro on the new battery, and it says that design capacity is 7900 mAh, estimated capacity is 7450 mAh. Unfortunately, I did not run the app on the old battery before replacing it, so I have no comparison.
I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money on the battery...
